TouchWood Movers is a family-owned team of Mississauga movers, working from an office on Derry Road East and a second location on Yonge Street in North York. The company handles residential and commercial moves for houses, townhomes, condos, offices, and warehouses across the Greater Toronto Area, and its list of service areas runs past the GTA to Hamilton, Guelph, Kitchener, and Niagara Falls. Moves to another province or across the U.S. border are handled with its partner, Cross Border Van Lines.
Most jobs are quoted by the hour, with the office matching a truck size and crew count to a rough description of what’s being moved. The clock starts when the crew reaches the pickup address and runs through loading, the drive, unloading, and any furniture reassembly, stopping once the truck is empty and set-up at the new place is finished.
The fleet includes 17-, 20-, 24-, 26-, and 28-foot trucks as well as 53-foot tractor trailers, and the 20- and 26-foot trucks have tailgates. Larger jobs can get more than one truck, and crews arrive with blankets, dollies, shrink wrap, and mattress covers.
The condo and apartment crew advises on timing elevator reservations and parking near the loading area so a move doesn’t run into building delays or penalties. The site lists experience with low-rise, high-rise, duplex, and loft buildings, with belongings protected by padded blankets and plastic wrap.
Digital keyboards and small uprights go with two movers, larger consoles and uprights get extra hands, and grands go to the most experienced crew, with legs removed and finishes wrapped. Extra movers and equipment are added for stairs, and piano moves are offered both within the GTA and between provinces.
For renovations, new flooring, painting, or a reorganized office, crews will shift furniture and appliances within the same property while protecting floors, walls, and doorways. The site says a job can be as small as a single piece.
Short- and long-term storage runs through the company’s partnership with Access Storage, in climate- and pest-controlled units. TouchWood crews wrap, pad, and label items, arrange the unit so pieces you’ll need sooner stay reachable, and can later deliver everything to your home or business.
The company won’t move pets, livestock, fish, perishables, indoor plants, guns and ammunition, or hazardous materials such as poisons, oxygen and propane tanks, flammables, and explosives. Hazardous, perishable, and flammable goods are also barred from storage, so those items need a separate plan.
A booking isn’t confirmed until a deposit is paid, and that deposit is lost if you cancel. Rescheduling requires at least three days’ notice and depends on an open date, which matters if a closing or lease date could still shift.
The terms put elevator and loading-bay reservations on the customer, and the condo page suggests booking both buildings six to eight weeks ahead. Time spent waiting on an elevator or keys is billable, and parking tickets are the customer’s responsibility.
TouchWood Movers is built for households and businesses moving within the Greater Toronto Area, from a studio in a Mississauga tower to a detached house, an office, or a warehouse of inventory. It makes the most sense when the job calls for a particular truck size, a piano crew, help working within building rules, or a stretch in storage during a renovation.
The quote form on the company website starts with the basics of each address: property type, bedroom count, and whether there’s an elevator. Decide early whether you want an hourly or a flat quote, because a flat price depends on a full inventory, including any piano, safe, hot tub, or pool table, and the terms let the company add crew when something wasn’t disclosed.
