Community Labor Partnership (CLP), founded in 2020, is a labor broker and moving services company that connects you with local independent moving contractors in your city.

The company has a network of over 40,000 contracted laborers in over 300 cities across the nation. Contractors range from professional movers looking for extra work to people seeking to supplement their income.

CLP’s contracted services provide a more affordable option for moving services and the company can provide same-day service because of its contractor network.

The Good

  • Same-Day Moving Services
  • Variety of Moving Services
  • Affordable Moving Services
  • Additional Contracted Services
  • Community Engagement

Same-Day Moving Services

CLP is one of the only moving companies in the industry that offers same-day/on-demand moving services. This is possible because of the company’s large moving contractor network that can connect you quickly with moving laborers in your area. In most cases, CLP can provide moving services within as little as three hours.

Most moving companies cannot offer same-day service due limited resources and personnel. However, CLP’s broad labor network provides more flexibility for customers, making it a good option if you need to pack or move with short notice or within a limited timeframe.

Variety of Moving Services

CLP offers a variety of moving services, including packing, loading, and unloading services. Residential, business, and commercial moving services are available, and you can get contractors who can assist in moving items from appliances and furniture, to heavier items, such as pianos and gym equipment.

Affordable Moving Services

The fact that CLP operates through a network of contracted movers significantly lowers overhead costs for the company and allows it to offer competitive pricing compared to other leading moving companies.

The company is known for providing cost-effective moving services without compromising quality, making it a more accessible option for budget-conscious customers.

While the company doesn’t disclose specific moving rates or moving quotes on its website, you can be confident that CLP will be a more affordable option for your move. If you would like a moving quote, you can call and speak with a CLP representative to discuss your move and estimated costs.

Additional Contracted Services

In addition to moving services, CLP has a network of contractors for landscaping, painting, general labor, house cleaning, and local handyman jobs.

It is worth noting that any labor work done through CLP will typically be more affordable. For example, for landscaping services you can expect a rate of $4 to $12 per square foot of your lawn/property, typically amounting to a total spend of $2,500 to $10,000 based on the size of your property.

This cost is significantly lower than you would see with a professional landscaping company or even with private landscaping contractors. However, it is important to note that prices will vary depending on your property, project, and needs.

Community Engagement

As the company name suggests, CLP excels in involving local communities in its operations. They often hire local individuals for their labor force, which contributes to the development of the community and fosters a sense of belonging.

In addition, CLP often partners with local charities and nonprofit organizations, demonstrating a commitment to giving back to the communities in which the company operates.

The Bad

  • Inconsistent Moving Services Quality
  • No Long Distance or Cross Country Moving Services
  • Limited Moving Resources

Inconsistent Moving Services Quality

The quality of service with CLP can vary depending on the local labor force it employs in your area. Some customers report excellent experiences, while others have encountered issues with professionalism and efficiency.

CLP does indicate on its website that it only hires reputable contractors, and you can request your contractor to clear a background check during booking. However, the nature of a labor broker company is that quality cannot be guaranteed, and will vary from move to move.

No Long Distance or Cross Country Moving Services

One of the significant drawbacks of CLP is its limited geographic coverage. While the company has contractors in hundreds of cities all over the country, contractors primarily serve local communities, which can be a disadvantage for customers looking for long-distance or cross-country moving services.

Limited Moving Resources

CLP may struggle to handle larger or more complex moves due to their smaller size and limited resources. In addition, laborers in different locations will have access to different equipment and trucks, which may not be best equipped for larger moves, for example. Thus, customers with substantial moving requirements might find it challenging to work with CLP.

The Bottom Line

Community Labor Partnership (CLP) is a moving company that has been making its mark in the industry with a unique approach to moving solutions since 2020.

The company engages with communities across the country, hiring contractor movers. CLP contractors range in experience from professional movers looking for extra weekend work to students seeking a flexible income. Because of the varied moving experience of contractors, quality cannot always be guaranteed.

In comparison to leading national moving companies such as Allied Van Lines, Mayflower, and U-Haul, CLP offers unique advantages, such as its ability to offer same-day service and lower rates.

But, CLP also faces limitations compared to leading companies that can often provide broader geographical coverage, including long-distance/cross-country moves, more comprehensive services, and a consistent level of quality due to their extensive resources and experience.

If you are looking for an affordable moving company, CLP is an excellent option. The company also engages and supports local communities across the country by the nature of hiring contractors to its extensive network.

Chris Davis

This service is 100% a scam. In late May 2024, I booked 2 "painters" for 8 hours each for two days. Both days, neither painter showed up on time or worked the agreed upon 8 hours. In fact, one day one showed up 4 hours late and only worked about 4.5 hours. After two "days", the two bedrooms and bathrooms I wanted painted were still not finished. In addition, they left a huge mess everywhere. I mean, I have paint on my carpeted stairs on two levels and I can't even explain how much paint was left all over my hardwood floors. I literally had to take a day off work just to try to clean up the mess they left behind on the hardwood. They even managed to paint over the electrical outlets in one room! I immediately reached out to the customer service agent, explained the situation, and was told a "manager" would contact me. After several days, I called back again because they never followed up. I was again told they would return my call. Still to this day, I have never heard from them. They essentially took my money and left a huge mess for me and still didn't complete the work they agreed to do. I CANNOT SAY THIS EMPHATICALLY ENOUGH: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING!!!
