Behavioral Neuroscience Institute (BNI) Treatment Centers for Teens is a southern California-based residential behavioral health treatment program designed for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17. The CARF-accredited program was founded and is currently operated by two physicians — Dr. Arastou Aminzadeh and Dr. Oliver Ahmadpour. According to BNI’s website, both doctors have long-standing experience in the field of psychiatry and medicine.
In addition to the two founding physicians, BNI has a few other medical professionals on staff including a family medicine physician, two primary therapists, a consulting psychologist, and a clinical pharmacist. BNI’s program treats a variety of conditions including anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorders, borderline personality disorders, behavioral issues, compulsive lying, self esteem issues, video game addiction, substance abuse, oppositional defiance, and more.
BNI has an inpatient program that includes a stay at BNI’s residential facilities in California. The program’s residential facilities, according to the organization’s website, includes luxury accommodations, high-quality care, meals, amenities, and 24/7 available staff and nurses. Potential program residents can view the facilities virtually on the organization’s website.
Although the organization does not appear to provide specific cost details on its website, those interested in the program can request a free consultation by filling out a simple form on the organization’s website. BNI’s program seems to accept a few different types of insurance including federal employee insurance, union health insurance, and more. The program, however, does not accept Medicare, Medi-Cal, or IEHP insurances.
Although BNI’s facilities are located in southern California, the organization does accept clients outside of California — from both across the nation and outside of the country.

Since BNI’s patients fall within the adolescent school age range and treatment can take some time, the organization recognizes that, without support, there’s a chance that patients within its program may experience academic roadblocks.
That’s why BNI instituted an on-site academic support structure within its treatment program that is designed to help students stay on top of their school work.
According to BNI’s website, students who are obtaining treatment “will continue to engage in their studies through a coordinated effort between the school representatives, the parents, and the student.”
BNI also recognizes that some students may require additional schoolwork assistance while they are in the treatment program. Because of this, BNI offers on-site tutors and computer stations that teens can use to complete their schoolwork.
Overall, this academic support structure is in place to make sure that patients do not fall behind in school during treatment and can return to their school classes post-treatment without experiencing much academic hindrance.
Although BNI provides information regarding its staff, treatment facilities, therapies, and academic support structure, the organization does not seem to provide information about the following:

Although BNI does accept quite a few insurances, the organization does not currently accept Medicare, Medi-Cal, or IEHP. Those who wish to use these insurance options will have to find a different method of coverage/payment for the program’s treatment services.
