I just turned 66. I was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago with a recurrence happening 1 year and 6 months ago. When setting up my supplemental plan through Boomer Benefits I advised them of my situation. I told them it was imperative that I get everything right because I will not be able to pass underwriting once I am all set up. Boomer Benefits recommended Accendo Supplemental Insurance even though this company had a very limited history, assuring me that it was a subsidiary of Aetna Insurance and they would be rock solid. Well here I am one year later. I was given an increase to my premium in excess of 25% and Accendo no longer is writing policies for Wisconsin (which means this is just the beginning of large rate increases for me). And now I have no economical options available to me. Needless to say I could not be more disappointed with the advice I received.

Hi Jack - Accendo's increases caught the whole industry off guard this year as they are part of Aetna which has historically had a good record with rate increases and we use the parent company as a guide when looking at Medigap plans offered by a subsidiary.

This is an unfortunate part of the business where no one broker can be 100% sure of what the future holds when it comes to increases. Our team does its due diligence in researching what data is available and recommending accordingly.

The person I dealt with provided me with the wrong year for plans. I needed plans for 2022; she gave me plans for 2021. Not just once but multiple times. She also provided plans for Iowa, not my state. I specifically said I did not want HMO plans and she provided HMO plans, not the PPO plans I requested. Very disappointed in the assistance. I found my own plans after several false starts. She also did not spell my name correctly in any emails even though I included the correct spelling in every email response. I will not recommend them to anyone looking for assistance.
