GhostBed is a mattress company offering direct to consumer memory foam mattresses since 2015. It is owned by Nature’s Sleep and all mattresses are built in the United States.

GhostBed sells three mattress options, adjustable bases, mattress foundations, the GhostPillow, GhostSheets, GhostBed Protector, and other accessories directly to consumers at ghostbed.com and on Amazon.

There are three mattress options: The GhostBed, GhostBed Luxe, and GhostBed Flex, all available in twin, twin XL, full, queen, king, and California king sizes. The focus is on affordable, high-quality mattresses, so materials include aerated latex foam, gel memory foam, a high density foam base, and a plush cover.

What is the difference between GhostBed, GhostBed Luxe, and GhostBed Flex?

Basically, GhostBed is a medium-firm memory foam mattress, Luxe is a little softer and has cooling technology to help reduce heat retention, and Flex is a hybrid mattress (foam + coils) with some cooling tech.

The Good

  • Free Shipping
  • Financing
  • Refund Policy
  • Warranty

Free Shipping

GhostBed offers free shipping and returns. Once an order is placed, your mattress will ship within 24 hours from one of the company’s seven U.S. warehouses.

You will get your mattress most likely within 3-5 days of placing your order.

Financing

Customers have the option to finance with Affirm at 0%-30% APR with monthly payments for 6, 12, or 18 months. Depending on your credit, you may get 0% financing for the entire term.

With Affirm, checking your eligibility doesn’t affect your credit score because it is a soft credit check.

This is more of a payment plan than a line of credit or loan.

You can also finance your new mattress with Katapult (formerly known as Zibby). Katapult is a lease-to-own payment option (no credit required).

Customers also have the option of paying for their mattress through Amazon Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Refund Policy

When you buy a mattress from GhostBed, you get the peace of mind knowing that it comes with a 101-night in-home sleep trial. This means that you get quite a bit of time to figure out if it is the best fit for you.

You do have to give yourself 30 days to adjust. After 30 days, you can contact customer service and ask about a return or refund. You don’t even have to try and put it back in the box. The customer support team will help to get it donated to a local charity.

Warranty

The warranty for GhostBed is great. It is 20 years for the original GhostBed and 25 for the Luxe and Flex editions.

The Bad

  • Few Options
  • Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii

Few Options

GhostBed offers three mattresses, in limited firmness options:

  • GhostBed — 6.5 on the firmness scale medium-firm
  • GhostBed Luxe — 5.5-6.0
  • GhostBed Flex — 6.5

If you need a mattress that is either soft or firm, you won’t be able to purchase from this company.

Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii

While shipping is free within the contiguous 48 states, it isn’t free for Alaska and Hawaii. Residents of these states are probably used to being a caveat on most “free shipping” purchases, but in this case, it costs $600 to ship to these states. It ships freight which means that it will likely take longer.

Additionally, all sales are final to these states, so customers don’t get the benefits that those in the continental United States do.

The Bottom Line

GhostBed offers direct to consumer bed-in-a-box mattresses that ship quickly, for free to most states. Alaska and Hawaii are excluded.

The company offers three mattresses, one latex foam, one that sleeps cool and is softer, and one that is a hybrid innerspring memory foam mattress. Warranties last for 20+ years and customers (outside of Hawaii and Alaska) benefit from a 101-day free trial period.

We can recommend this company if you are in the market for a high-quality, medium to medium-firm foam mattress, and you live in the continental United States.
