Founded in 1996, Lendmark Financial Services is a consumer finance company seeking to help consumers meet their financial needs through personal loans, debt consolidation loans, and automobile loans. Offering loan amounts ranging from $500-$25,000, all payment activity is reported to the three national credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion), providing borrowers with an opportunity to build credit in addition to financing their needs.

Loan applications are begun online, but you must visit a branch location to complete your application if approved.

Check out Lendmark Financial Services reviews below to see what customers have to say about the lender.

Top Ranked Companies

The Good

  • Variety of Loan Solutions
  • Fixed Rates, Terms, and Payments
  • Collateral Loans Available
  • Mobile App

Variety of Loan Solutions

Lendmark's personal installment loans can be used for a wide range of purposes:

  • Debt consolidation
  • Car and home repair
  • Large purchases
  • Back-to-school supplies
  • Travel
  • Medical care
  • Holiday expenses

Fixed Rates, Terms, and Payments

Although specific rates, terms, and payment details are not listed on its site, Lendmark offers fixed rates. This means that your rates, terms, and payment amounts will not fluctuate during the lifespan of your personal loan. This provides stability for borrowers and makes it easier for them to plan for monthly payments.

Lendmark interest rates are not stated explicitly on its website. In order to get any sort of estimate on what your monthly payment and interest rate would be you will need to complete an application, which could impact your credit score.

Many other personal loan companies will offer estimates or an online calculator to help give you an idea of what your interest rates may look like.

Collateral Loans Available

Lendmark Financial Services offers collateral loans - also known as secured loans. A secured loan requires you to put up collateral as in case you default on your loan. In this case, the company would seize the collateral on whatever outstanding amount is owed.

Secured loans are a good option for borrowers with poor or bad credit, and increase their chances of approval, as the lender is secured for any risk. In addition, secured loans often result in lower interest rates.

It is important to note that Lendmark requires collateral for any loan amount above $8,000.

Mobile App

Lendmark offers a mobile app for Android and iOS devices. Customers can manage their account, make payments, and contact customer service through the app.

The Bad

  • Lack of Information on Website
  • Limited State Availability
  • Low Maximum Loan Amount
  • Negative Customer Reviews

Lack of Information on Website

Compared to many of the financial services companies that we reviewed, Lendmark provides very little information on its website. Below is a list of the information that is not outlined on the website:

  • Maximum loan term
  • Length of short-term loans vs. long-term loans
  • Interest rates for bad credit customers
  • Minimum credit score requirement and other FICO score factors
  • Funding timeline
  • Possible credit card, processing, and origination fees

Also note, Lendmark Financial Services does not list its fees on its website, so it's unclear whether or not you'll have to pay an origination fee, prepayment penalty fee, or late fee out of your loan amount.

Most online lenders provide much more information on their websites. This is the biggest Lendmark complaint — little to no information on its site.

Limited State Availability

Lendmark financing is available to residents in only 19 states throughout the country. This is important because borrowers must visit a Lendmark branch location to complete their application if approved. Lendmark loan products and services are only available in the following states:

  • Alabama
  • Arizona
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Idaho
  • Kentucky
  • Maryland
  • Mississippi
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Virginia
  • Washington
  • West Virginia

Many lenders provide entirely online application and loan approval services, in addition to almost nationwide service, so if you don't reside in the states listed above, we suggest looking elsewhere for your personal loan needs.

Low Maximum Loan Amount

Lendmark's personal loan amounts can range from $500 to $25,000. This max loan amount is quite low for a personal loan lender and may prove to be insufficient for many potential borrowers.

If you're looking to borrow a larger sum of money, we suggest looking into other personal loan companies that offer higher loan amounts.

Negative Customer Reviews

Although reviews are currently limited, many Lendmark Financial reviews are negative, frequently mentioning high-interest rates, bad customer service, and hidden fees.

On the other hand, positive reviews outline good experiences with customer service, and loan approval even for those with poor credit.

The Bottom Line

If you are considering a Lendmark loan, it is important to note that there is very little online information available about Lendmark's products and services. Without calling and speaking to a branch manager, it's hard to know how it compares to other lenders.

In addition, Lendmark's maximum loan amount is not large. But this likely makes it possible for subprime borrowers to qualify when they may not get approved elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a large loan amount, Lendmark would not be your best choice.

With many negative reviews and with the little information we do have, we suggest looking into other top-rated personal loan lenders to meet your needs.

Lendmark bought out our Springleaf loan, they have been very polite and professional since they took over. I had the original Springleaf loan set up to auto pay and never even realized that no payments had come out since Lendmark took over, once they got ahold of me they immediately waived all late fees on my account before I could even ask if they were willing to help me out. The next month they called me before the end of my grace period to make sure that I didn't get charged extra fees then either. I have always made my payments on time before, but that was with another company, so I really appreciate their willingness to work with me and the excellent customer service they have provided. Obviously it would have been more profitable for them to charge me for my late payment the first month, or to call me after instead of before my grace period the second. Good company to work with!

I had to get a loan with them back in 2016 and I needed it FAST. My boyfriend fell into a tough place and had his car repossessed. We needed 1500 fast to get it back. Went in to apply and was told I was approved for it. I had to wait until the next day to get the check and sign all the paperwork but after that I never had a single issue with them Yes interest rate was high but its a personal loan from someone other than your bank, what do you expect honestly. I paid off the loan early and there was no repercussions on my end. They gave me a payoff amount and that was that. I got insurance on my loan so It was a little bit more than what I would have liked but again, there for me when I needed it. I went in just this week for a debt consolidation loan and was approved almost instantly. The manager was able to get me the dollar amount I wanted. They wrote the checks for me to everyone I wanted to pay. And then a little bit left over for myself which I instantly just gave back to them honestly. They are a good company for when you need them. Interest rate being high and all. Will continue my business with Lendmark financial in Bremerton, Washington

Satisfied Customer Salisbury, MD

The LendMark of Easton Maryland is top notch. They were friendly, welcoming, and didn't treat me like a beggar. They were attentive to details and took time to answer my questions as we went through the process. It's embarrassing enough to have to ask for money but I left there with my dignity intact. Thank you to the Manager and person who worked with me. You are a great team!

I love the people in paintsville ky and pikeville ky. Yes you have to take higher interest rates but to reestablish your credit as long as it is not 25000 dollars is the best way. April and the team in pikeville are good people lots of experience and will help you in anyway they can

Approved for a loan with spring leaf on line. Went to sign the paperwork very professional, but now they were Lend mark. On disability social security income needed to pay off credit cards. 36 mo loan ,but paying it off in 24 mo. Less interest of course, no early repayment penalty. Thinking about asking for a second loan to pay of more debt in 24 mo. since the first loan is going so well. Beavercreek Dayton Fairborn Ohio office good experience thus far credit score 640's at the time . Not a LG income, but documentation provided for manager. Since loan approved credit score has increased almost 15 points since may2016.Convenient loan comes right out of my checking account mo..thanks to all joy

Applied for loan. Was denied because of credit rating. The loan was the better the credit issues. Won’t consider you if you don’t have perfect credit. If I had perfect credit I wouldn’t need a loan. They were short and abrupt on the phone. I DO NOT recommend even inquiring with them. They are not customer friendly.

Incompetent staff. I was set to take delivery today and when I stopped by the branch yesterday they told me for the first time they needed my wife's Pa State ID. Well during this corona virus that's not easy to do. It took me well over a week and $48.00 to get my birth certificate, which only costs $20.00. I would highly recommend you never deal with them.

Last February I took out a loan for $6500. It is now August, 6 months later, and the principal balance is only $6,344.53. I paid it off today thinking that was all I owed. NO. They added $115.78 accrued interest and a fee of $250. The "fee" is a processing fee. It cost me $6,710.31 to pay off the loan today. First of all, borrow money somewhere else. Second of all, if you do borrow from these loan sharks be sure to read the fine print. These predatory lenders will only serve to get you further in debt. Best advice - Pay it off as soon as possible if you do business with this company. They need to be investigated. They do not send out monthly statements showing how much is owed, so you have no choice but to access your account online. The online account of your loan is different from what they tell you when you come in to pay off the loan.

They are crooks. They tell their employees to tell the customer they can't go by what the web site says. Yet I've been tracking my payments and the website is correct in what I owe. Not the office. There's a $400 discrepancy between what the office is saying and what's on their website. Then they play this little game if not sending you any info with the statements. For the past 4 months the statements have been coming with a 'pardon our progress' comment and just what you pat every month. So there's no ability for you to see the progress of your loan payments except to track it online which they're now saying is wrong. CROOKS!!!!

This is probably the most rude and unprofessional loan company there could be. I recently called their branch in Whitehall PA and multiple times spoke with a lady Rosealee (I'm not sure if I spelled that correctly, but her name was similar to that). Each time I called she kept giving me the runaround saying it was in review for the loan I was applying for. I never had received a call back from her I had to keep calling her back each time over a span of 4 days. On the last day I called back once again asking the status of my application and she said I needed a co-signer. She also point blank said she didn't believe the incoming I was making despite sending her several copies of my paychecks and W-2 forms. In all honest I don't even think she put my application through. Why, I'm not exactly sure. Maybe because I'm 21 years old (despite the fact I was seriously intrested in the loan and have very good income. And an even better credit score especially for someone my age. Maybe she's just plain lazy. Whatever the exact reason, I don't know. Eventually I got fed up with her bull crap and this company's bull crap and applied elsewhere and got an approval within 2 hours. I'm not sure how this company stays in busnuiess. I guess they're just really good at ripping people off. In the long run I suppose she did me a favor though with all these other negative reviews. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.

I borrowed $2000 that was supposed to take only take 2 years to pay off. Fast forward 4 years, I have paid exactly $9,789.36 and still have a 'balance' of almost $6000. My advice to consumers is DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. This is a loan shark that will offer you gold with a 'payment plan' and the first time you are late on a payment the amount you owe triples under the guise of 'insurance protection'. Then after all of this they have the audacity to drag me into small claims court and seek a judgment against me. Run as far and as fast as you can AWAY from this company. They will ruin you financially

I had a last minute quick loan from Spring Leaf, who became Lendmark. Charged me a late fee because I paid Spring Leaf on time. Found out after the due date I now have to pay Lendmark who charges Payment Handling Fee?! I doubt if they give anyone who comes in a loan for less than 27% interest. If you can help it, don't do it!!! It's a vicious circle and it's never ending. Think about paying $120 a month for the rest of time... So your $2000 loan becomes $5000... Don't do it!!

If you can get a loan with anyone else, do it. If you dont pay on the due date, they will call you daily and harass you. And then they call and harass your refrences. I got a 5k loan and im paying over $2000 in fees alone. They are crooks. Stay away!

Quoted me a pay off rate and 5 weeks later I called to get it again(was paying loan off) they had it over $400 more then previous and said I was miss quoted by their staff. I think they are trying to rip me off!!!! They had no record of my call or who I spoke with in their computer - I had the day, time and length of call on my phone bill.
