Based in Farmington, CT, Recruiter was launched in 2013 and is known for its large network of recruiters. The company recently partnered with Pocket Recruiter, a leading resume matching company, and their network of other popular recruiters such as Monster, Snagajob, and ZipRecruiter continues to grow.

The Good

  • Price range
  • Reach
  • Resources and learning materials
  • Special features
  • Customer support
Price Range
Job seekers pay nothing to access Recruiter's job listings, and neither do employers-unless and until a match and a hire is made. Recruiter does not charge for posting a job, and there is no time limit for a job's listing. It is completely contingency-based, and the contingency is 20% of the job's first year's salary. This system is much different from most payment models, where a monthly fee or pay-per-click is charged, regardless of whether the process leads to a hire.
Reach
Recruiter's reach is impressive. They have a database of over six million jobs gathered from 13,000 employers and a network of 35,000 recruiters across every industry vertical. The company has over 3 million followers on its LinkedIn group page, the most popular employment networking source at present.
Resources and Learning Materials
The company runs the largest online recruiting publication in the world, Recruiter Today. This career and employment magazine consists of almost one hundred web pages of quality career and employment content. They also have several free employment-themed e-book downloads on their website. The review team noticed that much of Recruiter's educational content mirrors its job recruitment outlook: a focus on data-based hiring methods. Recruiter is starting many exciting conversations about the continuous evolution of online recruitment. Blog articles cover ATS (applicant tracking system) function and pricing, Facebook dynamic ads, digital structured interviews, and mobile recruiting.
Special Features
For job seekers, there aren't any special features that stand out. The benefit of having over six million jobs to scour through is probably the most important one, though. With Recruiter's unique employer payment plan described previously, employers can use Recruiter's services knowing that they won't pay without seeing results. They also enjoy the benefit of having just one Recruiter.com team specialist to consistently work with. This prevents the bombardment of calls by support staff members who aren't familiar with a case-all too common in other companies. And where the employer payment is 100% contingent upon a successful hire, Recruiter is involved with all desired steps of the hiring process, including sourcing, qualifying, and re-qualifying candidates, and scheduling interviews until final hires are made.
Customer Support
Recruiter has a live chat window on their website as well as the option to submit a support ticket with specific questions. Not to mention that their information Help Desk is legitimately helpful, with user-specific (job seeker, employer, or recruiter) topics for browsing or searching.

The Bad

  • Experience
Experience
Founded in 2013, Recruiter is one of the youngest employment search companies. In some ways, this puts them at a disadvantage to companies that have been in the industry for over twenty years. On the other hand, Recruiter has already made an impact with its emphasis on the technology aspect of recruitment.

The Bottom Line

Based on job listing numbers alone, it is clear that this newbie to the job search industry is anything but lagging behind. Recruiter seems to have a strong future in the job recruiting industry and is leading conversations about ATS technology. But the company could better set itself apart from the others by developing a tool, website feature, or app that makes the company and website truly memorable.

Mo Jr O ,

This site is OUTRAGEOUS! I didn't see how much they were going to charge me to upload my resume to the site! THEY CHARGE YOU A FEE, TO HELP PLACE YOU AT A JOB, THAT YOU STILL MAY NOT GET. SMH. I HATE THE FACT , I HAD TO COMPLETELY SIGN UP AND ATTEMP TO UPLOAD MY RESUME, BEFORE THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A FEE. I NEED JOB PLACEMENT, AND MY MONEY IS TIGHT. I RATHER WALK BUSINESS TO BUSINESS ASKING FOR A PAPER APPLICATION BEFORE I PAY A SMALL FEE FOR YOU TO HELP ME SEEK OUT A JOB, NOT EVEN A GUARANTEE YOU WILL LAND POSITION. I HAVE NEVER BEEN ON A SITE, IN NEED OF JOB PLACEMENT AND THEY ASK FOR MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION. I DEFINITELY WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS SITE TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR JOB. I MUST SAY, THEY DO HAVE SOME NICE CAREER PLACEMENT IDEAS, JUST NOT INTO PAYING FOR JOB SEEKING SERVICE THAT DOES NOT 100% GUARANTEED ME THIS POSITION.
