OneNeighbor was established in 2019, providing homeowners in Texas cost savings by hiring home services as a group. The company's mobile app allows neighboring homeowners to manage services they would benefit from. It does not require clients to sign a long-term service contract and has a myriad of services for clients to choose from. OneNeighbor offers a customer satisfaction guarantee.

The Good

  • Wide Variety of Services Offered
  • Group Purchasing Structure
  • Online Platform
  • Background Checks and Insured Professionals

Wide Variety of Services Offered

OneNeighbor offers a wide variety of services, including the following:

  • Lawn mowing
  • Lawn fertilization
  • Pet waste removal
  • Pool cleaning
  • Bush trimming
  • Weed pulling
  • Leaf cleanup
  • Mulch installation
  • Mosquito control
  • Lawn aeration
  • Fire ant control
  • Grub control
  • Dallisgrass control
  • Christmas lights

Group Purchasing Structure

By using OneNeighbor, clients pool together to hire services at a drastically discounted rate. OneNeighbor uses a mobile app to manage customers’ accounts. The more homeowners in a neighborhood that sign up to use OneNeighbor, the lower the cost will be for the services rendered.

Online Platform

OneNeighbor has streamlined customer relations with an easy app that manages payment, communication, account services, and feedback.

Background Checks and Insured Professionals

Before hiring any company, it’s important the consumer checks credentials of those providing services. OneNeighbor claims to background check all its contractors. It also ensures the providers carry liability insurance in case any accident was to happen on property you, the consumer, wouldn’t be liable.

The Bad

  • Cost Variability
  • Limited Service Area

Cost Variability

Without a long-term service contract, which OneNeighbor does not make members have, the service cost can vary. For example, if a group of 15 neighbors join to use One Neighbor’s lawn service, the price will be X dollars. But if three of those neighbors aren’t happy with the service provided, they will drop out and the price most likely will increase for the remaining 12 neighbors still using the service.

It’s hard to guarantee the satisfaction of a large group.

Limited Service Area

Currently OneNeighbor only provides services in certain residential areas throughout Florida and Texas. Customers interested in using its services would need to look up if the service they want is offered in their area.

The Bottom Line

We do not feel this company deserves a recommendation at this time. Although the concept is intriguing, there are many potential pitfalls of tying your satisfaction with the company with your neighbors' experiences. The company would be well served by establishing a solid reputation based on customer reviews to encourage confidence in potential customers.
