BEWARE of their authorized dealer program. Two sensors improperly installed and no mention of three year contact. System did not work....error message door open...NO DOOR WAS OPEN. Called ADT and was told it was batteries.Wrong batteries for my my system was sent. Finally called a manager/supervisor and he explained about the authorized dealership program. He told me if I stayed through the two year period, cancellation would be possible with a modification of fee. A real ADT person was sent out to fix sensors correctly. My two years are up and I have cancelled.......... No, sadly, there was no adjustment on the cancellation fee. ADT needs to either eliminate the authorized dealer program or make provisions to customers that received shoddy workmanship due to a authorized dealer's deceitful methods.

I purchased a security system through ADT with the understanding that I would only need a monitored service for about two years. I was clearly advised that I could still use my system as an unmonitored burglar alarm after my two year contract expired. I fulfilled my contract and after 4 years decided to cancel my monthly monitoring service to save on monthly expenses. Imagine my surprise when the effectively disabled my entire system, advising me that I would have to renew monitoring fees to get it operating again! They advised me that there was no way to effectively bypass a communications system error indicator and use it as a stand alone burglar alarm. I called around and was able to find a technician to bypass their communications error message which was an annoying chirping sound. With the push of a few buttons the technician was able to bypass the need for monitoring. Should we be more concerned about the deceit with ADT or the thieves they are claiming to protect us from!

To those of you who say you "feel secure", DON'T. Had ADT for 18 years. In March, my home was burglarized. (I was at work.) When I arrived home unexpectedly, the alarm was still armed. Thief broke a window to enter. ADT still hasn't explained why the motion sensors didn't trip the alarm. "Sorry" they said, and offered to install glass breakage sensors "for only $620". WTH! I had to call the police, have them search the house, attic, crawlspace to make sure the intruder wasn't still inside. Many of the items stolen couldn't be replaced, ie, my late mother's jewelry, and pictures of grandparents long gone. No, don't feel secure if you have ADT!

Complaint Description: ADT installed my security service May 10, It's May 16 and No time set for servicing the unit. Unit installed on May 10, May 12. The unit went off while in stay mode and I put in my code. Then it went off again while it was in Stay. The person had me turn off the motion sensor. I don't want to pay for anything I can't feel secure with. This is after all a Security system!! It is now May 16 and nothing from the office about servicing it. so I still want to cancel my account. Your Desired Resolution: First night I set it in Stay and it worked. Second night I set it in stay and I got up from the computer and walked into the kitchen. Alarm went off. keyed in code and turned it off two times. Called ADT She had me walk into rooms where there was no motion sensor and it went off. someone had me turn bypass the motion sensor. I have set it in away a couple of times? I can't have a system that won't work and I faxed a cancel within 3 days. I believe I will go with a more reputable company.

Absolutely the worst service I can remember getting from a company! First off they didn't tell me that the police don't have to respond to the alarms (which they don't where I live). Then the alarm started going off on it's own. I just called them and spoke with another idiot there, and she said that if I paid them another $99.00 I could have my service turned on again. I had it turned off due to false alarms. Well, Tansy, or whatever her name was said that I could have my system turned back on if I signed another 2 year contract. Hello?! I have to pay until Sept. so why does she want to stick me with another installation fee and 24 month contract? Too be mean I'm sure. Some of the worst idiots I've talked to work there and I hope people boycott this company!

I was satisfied with my ADT system until I decided to add cameras - the cameras are awful - can't see anything in dark but some white figures -they catch the first 30 seconds and then go blank for 4 minutes -bad - When switching to cameras - they rewired my whole system and NOW, the alarm is so quiet I can't hear it I called ADT and they said I was wrong - comes from factory quiet!- it did not come quiet originally! Before I added the 3 cameras - the alarm was real loud and I could hear it all over the house - it cost me an additional $624.00 to add 3 cameras that don't do the job at all and my monthly went from $42.84 to $56 77 after cameras were installed and I am stuck with this for 36 months!

First they gave me an estimate of how much I would pay per month, then they said it was a mistake and that I should pay about 10% more. I accepted and they gave me a new contract. I called them about 3 times in a period of 6 years but their visits were always with charge to the client. I finally canceled the contract because I was not willing to pay when it was not my problem.

I have never encountered such a predatory company as ADT. Their customer service representatives totally ignored my wishes as the customer from the outset. Simply put, it was their way or the highway. I chose the highway. ADT is totally unsatisfactory in its business approach to customer satisfaction.

If I could give lower then one star I would! Worst company I have ever dealt with. They said if your system is going off due to a faulted sensor they don’t call you. This happens all the time! Very displeased with my service. I get woken up in the middle of the night to “faulted sensors” and they don’t even give you a call to alert you the sensors faulted. Doesn’t make me feel very safe. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!

Terrible customer service. Scheduled for equipment upgrade twice and first time technician no showed and second time showed up late. Called customer service to complain and they absolutely had no response other than we can reschedule for another four hour window they probably won’t show up for. There are plenty of other alarm companies out there to choose from and I will switch my business alarm ASAP and home alarm when the contract runs out. So, if you are busy and don’t have time to waste with incompetence go with someone other than ADT

I had ADT for more than 9 years, they called recently to upgrade their wireless unit from 3G to 4G. They send a technician from dish network who had no clue on what he needs to do. After 3 hours of trying to change the unit and get the system running, he said I am sorry I can’t do it. Called ADT and requested an ADT technician, appointment was scheduled in 2 weeks. Same dish network technician comes back and says I am not sure why send me back. Horrible company horrible service, not worth the money.

they hide the true part numbers of the cameras and equipment and then they overcharged be more that 4,000. on equipment. I could have easily bought the equipment for over 4,000 less money. the salesman was very dishonest. He yessed me to all the requirements mentioned and it wasnt until the last day in the last few hours that I learned that the cameras did not work anywhere near adequacy on the back of my house. DONT USE THEM FOR CAMERA MONITORING!!! ALSO, DONT PAY THE EXTRA MONTHLY FEE FOR THE WARRANTY. ITS MUCH CHEAPER TO INCURR THE RISK YOURSELF IF A CAMERA NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

Our salesman lied to us on several topics First he told us we had until the following Monday to cancel which turned out to be false. We also knew when signing we planned on moving so we inquired about relocation and he assured us they take care of it no fee. Turns out they make you sign a new contract or buy out your old contract! The communication is also awful, we would heavily advise against this company

I had been told we were on a month to month contract, so I asked to see the signed contract that said six months. They haven't sent it because they don't have it. They still insist on my paying for the next six months that I won't be using them.

I called and was told I needed to replace batteries, I explained I am a widow and I don't know what kind of batteries, etc. I was told I would receive new batteries with instructions. Wanted ADT due to discount offered through USAA. After the installation was nearly complete, the tech let me know the doorbell camera was not compatible with our door chime but was a simple fix. 2 electricians later, I have no doorbell or camera; and ADTs solution is to return the camera??? The camera system was the whole point of adding security. WARNING - they are not responsible.

I did not like anything about this company. The service was lousy and the cameras never caught anything of value but one incident of my bike being stolen but the image was so dark and grainy, I could not identify the person. The camera was always late catching anything and was constantly offline for some reason. Lastly, when I finally cancelled the service, I discovered that the $700 in cameras I bought were useless now. Total waste!

I sold my home and moved into a rental while our new home was being built. I bought over $1k in equipment from them, and had it installed, with the understanding/selling point that we could take ALL of that equipment with us to the new home. A year later I’m moving into the new house and they tell me they have a policy that DOES NOT ALLOW them to move equipment. Btw, it’s ALL wireless. In my talks with them they’ve offered me a $400 discount on a new system. 🤣🤣. I hope whoever I go with can do better than this.

Good Service and Options. More Expensive then most. This company operates to make sure that you stay with them on the monthly fees. If your needs change and you no longer required the monitored service, then your in-home alarm system is reset from the main office and basically useless. You will not be able to use the alarm without paying them monthly. Make sure that you ask all alarm companies, what happens when you needs change and you want to be able to arm the system but just not have the system monitored with center center.

I chose ADT to protect my business it is the worst service I have ever had from a vendor.Lot's a of promises to get the order, many many phone calls to the sales rep who asked me not to call the company but to call him and allow him to take care of me with issues. Well that never really happened. Right now I have a businesses left unprotected by faulty sensors and I have to drive an hour to my business to reset the keypad. When I called to speak with customer service the first person conveniently hung up on me. I'm done!

HAD A SYSTEM INSTALLED IN A NEW HOUSE IN FLORIDA. SMOKE DETECTOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND KEPT GOING OFF. This company is horrid. They are not only extremely overpriced, but they are very dishonest and their customer service is a joke. BEWARE: their cameras only record for up to 30 seconds when there is motion, and then they won't record again for 3 minutes. They are completely useless and they don't offer any other options. I would strongly recommend buying a Google Nest. They are much cheaper, record 24/7 and the monthly fee is less than half of ADT's.

I had many problems with them and the equipment but we had a good experience. The calls in the middle of the night because of a hardware issue. After the tenth time at 2am it took them 3 tries to get it working again. Don't do maintenance in the middle of the night is a good idea.

This is the WORST COMPANY I HAVE dealt with bunch of liars and bad customer service. Don't get them. I'm totally dissatisfied with the cameras their outsorced installers put in. They put an indoor camera OUTSIDE and my door bell camera has never worked. To top it off I did not get my $100 visa credit because you has to submit a request within 30 day otherwise u forfiet the credit which the initial installer did not tell me. Now I'm paying for nothing. I'm going to small claims court.

ADT has a great brand, but they use that to overcharge their customers, especially relative to the new start ups in the space, like SimpliSafe. On top of that, they lock you into multi-year contracts and if you move or need to cancel your service, the only option is to pay off the entire balance. I understand this model if you are paying off equipment, but for them you buy all equipment up front as well. I highly recommend you try anyone else.

We have used ADT for over 25 years. At one time we were satisfied, but we live in a rural area and the people who serviced our equipment were very good. For several years the service has been next to non-existent, while their monitoring fees continue to rise. Now, if I want a service technician we must wait for the nearest tech (ADT claims that is ~100 miles) to be in the area. I'm cancelling ADT this week.

ADT has the worst service! Don't sign up with them! We were at a rental which the contract should have only been 2 years but they had us for 3 and said "sorry can't do anything for you." They are making us pay for 1 full year in a house we are not even living in. Since we want to close the account, we have to pay the full term of the contract that's left. Also, their video camera service is the worst and not reliable. Very cheap quality and over priced. There are much better security services out there that don't take advantage of you.

BEWARE DO NOT USE !!!! - installer came to my home and didnt talk about any prices of any equipment. Then told me he was going to his truck to retrive items so he could show me and while i was in my kitchen he began drilling into my dry wall installing wall mount without my consent or any permission. I would not have believed all of these negative reviews if it had not happened to me ! I am an ADT customer for 25 years ( ! ) , and my system recently went down. I was told by the 1-800 person that replacing the broken system would be at no cost. When the salesman came, suddenly it was $ 600 and a three year contract . Spoke to a variety of " managers" and "supervisors" and THEY ALL LIED !!!!! Just like these reviews say, they are dishonest liars. Nothing they say can / should be believed. Did not get past the sales stage, but unimpressed by that. I asked for a quote, so I could compare one or more other quotes, but you get charged an installation fee anyway. I was promised I would get an email with everything that I had discussed over the phone before the service engineer showed up, this did not happen. Service person looked around and scribbled some notes on the back of a paper how much the equipment would cost to install. Comes across as unprofessional for such a large company.

Be sure you get a hand written amount stating the cost of each item of equipment. Do not reli on the company form. Be wary of the old bait and switch. Ask were the call center is located in the US and also get the direct phone number of the tech support, you will need it. Also be aware that the call center does not always communicate with the tech service personnel. One last piece of advice, Always get all Deals in an email from the home office, don't let the company rep make you feel like you don't need to.

Motion sensor inside my living room when goes off only makes alarm sound, doesnt notify ADT, WTF... Unfortunately, the MF's entered thru my windows that didnt have sensors. Líes!!! We are still waiting to get our $206 refund...They promise so much and they do nothing they say! We canceled the alarm on the same day they installed it because it was not what they promised. They immediately charged two months ($98) to monitor an alarm they disabled right after our cancellation request. I was with ADT for 2.5 years and was moved for work. I told them I had temporary housing and will install service when I get a home. They insisted I pay $319 and I will get it when re-install. Poor customer service. Now you get no money and you lose a customer for life. Too many other choices for Security Services, stay away from them. I have the service for about one year The alarm panel keeps making a loud noise for the past two weeks customer service refuses to send a technician to look at it without charging me $138. And when I said that I wanted to cancel the service they wanted to charge me $600 cancellation fee Stay away from ADT. We had them for 2 years the alarm would go on and we wouldn’t receive a call, the phone would be disconnected and we are supposed to receive call on our cell phone right but no no calls the police doesn’t show up the fire truck doesn’t show up because they don’t actually care to call and check up if you are alright. I have experienced nothing but problems with my $8000 ADT video and alarm security since it was installed 8 months ago. The initial installation was poorly done and several modifications had to be made to get it to work. Since then, I have had chronic problems with loss of computer connection to video, camera failures, and window sensor failures. Almost every month there is a ADT failure. I would not recommend this system and would excercise ADT 6 money back guarantee if it were not 8 months since installed

Do. It even try or else you will be screwed. I thought I had 3 days after installation to terminate my service but wrong, they back dated my installation in the system and charged me over thousand dollar. Beside the scam their products are really cheap quality the Honeywell panel is really outdated and cheap made in china outdoor camera ughhh. I wish someone had warned me about this.. I thought ADT was long in business so would be reliable Wrong !! Will recommend people to not even attempt to get quote since you will only be step closer to get scammed.

Several issues with system malfunction related to cellular phone - responsiveness of ADT to down system poor - technicians not available - told different things by different technicians and spent LOTS of time on hold on the phone - very disappointing after having been ADT customer for almost 2 decades - system upgraded 2014. So far this year have had two technician visits - system still non-functional and third scheduled visit technician did not come during scheduled visit times and when I called to reschedule it would be at least a week. I say try another system!

We were burglarized a few days ago, thieves came in the garage. I checked the ADT camera mounted by the garage door and found out the camera did not capture any image of the thieves at all. I called ADT to see if they had anything from their end. I was told to call back in 2 hours, 2 hours! Whatever happened to 24/7 service. Completely useless. Cop said get a better camera. I'm getting a better security company, period.

When closing an office I cancelled my ADT account in Feb 2018. It is now July 2018 and I am still getting bills. Also in March I paid a closing down fee of over $512??? I have had 3 calls with ADT to stop the continuous billing cycle. I have employees ID number to prove it. They all tell me it is closed until I et a bill and call in again. Same routine again and again. Almost seems like a scam.

Hi just installed ADT monitoring security device nd decided to cancel 5 business days later . They told me if I canceled I would have to pay $1500. Now I’m stuck with a system that is really not good at all. The Ring door Bell is $10/ month and is a way mbetter system. Customers be ware don’t fall into a 3 year contract when you can get a way better system for only &100/year vs $720/year. Will never make this mistake again. Oh and customer service sucks they are very nice when they are trying to sell you the alarm but when you try to call for an issue the are quite rude.

Worst. Had the service. Did a remodel which required revolving contacts. Therefore no monitoring. Called to let them know. Rather than suspend until they could continue monitoring again they continued to bill. Then turned me over to credit company for a $1,000 early termination fee. I would not use this company under any circumstances - ever. Beware!

My experience with adt was as one dispatcher put it a “train wreck”. We found uninstalled door monitors on the floor numerous false alarms techs that never came out and confused customer service agents telling me no tech had been requested. My electrician and I personally ripped out the system ourselves. Called adt and told them I was not paying them. The cocky customer service agency said adt was not worried as Nightwatch would collect. When I wrote nightwatch a long letter they very kindly told me they would not be billing me for the reminder of my contract. Up yours ADT
