Overall Score

LAST UPDATED: January 24th, 2024

Guardzilla's basic home security camera system was introduced to the market recently as a simplified security system for the average consumer. It is controlled primarily by a Smartphone app and can be linked to several devices.

The company offers six different HD camera models, ranging from $99.99–229.99, with different features including indoor and outdoor options, a field of view up to 360°, night vision, two-way communication, and built-in audio alarms.

The Guardzilla 360 ($199.99–$229.99) is the first-ever of its kind to deliver two-way audio via built-in speaker and microphone, plus 360° live HD video. It was even honored with a 2018 CES Innovation Award.

Through the Guardzilla app, users can view live video and any motion-triggered recording, any time of the day and night. Professional monitoring is offered for $9.99 per month and cloud storage is available for $4.99–8.99 per month.

Read on for pros and cons, plus Guardzilla reviews from real customers.

The Good

  • Affordable
  • Mobile App & Storage
  • Features
  • Compatibility

Affordable

This camera provides a way for lower incomes and smaller budgets to get at least a basic level of home protection. The camera body is priced at only $99; the only additional purchase you might have to make would be a microSD card. This is only if you want more local storage; otherwise, the basic model is sufficient. The camera body is compact and easy to set up in your average home or business location.

Mobile App

The Guardzilla app makes using the security less intimidating and complicated for every member of the family with a phone of their own. It requires nothing more than a press of a button to manually engage or disengage the alarm.

The Guardzilla app allows you to do a variety of things from the convenience of your smartphone. From anywhere, you can arm and disarm your cameras' motion sensors as well as schedule auto-arming for automatic arming and disarming of your cameras. You can also use the app to monitor live HD video and save images of the footage.

All motion events from your video feed are saved in increments of eight seconds and saved for free via cloud storage for two days. Free storage clips only have video, no audio is recorded.

Additional video storage and professional monitoring are available for relatively small annual or monthly fees. For 49.99 per year or $4.99 per month, you can get cloud storage of audio + video clips on a seven-day loop. For $89.99 or $8.99 per month, you can upgrade to a 30-day loop.

The professional service is available for $9.99 per month.

Features

They offer 180- and 360-degree fields of view outdoor and indoor camera models. Each device is small and compact, but they all offer multiple features, including night vision and a motion detection system that will send emails, text messages, or push notifications when triggered. The Motion detector has precision PIR motion sensors that catch movement in every direction.

Its shrill, built-in alarm is more of a scare tactic than that of a sophisticated system, but it can still be very useful in warding off intruders with a 100dB siren.

Several models offer the option of using the power cord or battery power. You can even use the plug and then the AA battery backup in the case of a power outage.

Compatibility

If you want Wi-Fi security cameras that are compatible with Nest, Google Assistant, Amazon Alex, Samsung SmartThings or IFTTT, then Guardzilla will work for you. Guardzilla's compatibilities are on par with other security providers and make it convenient for customers who want to make home security cameras a part of their home automation.

The Bad

  • Guardzilla Reviews
  • Experience
  • Customer Service
  • Limited Products

Guardzilla Reviews

The majority of Guardzilla reviews are negative, giving the company a low star rating from consumers. This is concerning for potential customers and may deter people from purchasing Guardzilla security cameras. Guardzilla reviews note unresponsive customer service and poor camera quality. We suggest looking into the company's reviews to ensure you are interested in doing business with Guardzilla before making your purchasing decision.

We talk more about specific consumer complaints in the below points.

Experience

According to our consumer reviews, many had issues with the cameras staying connected to wi-fi. The mobile apps have middling reviews. Android shows 3.4/5 with 3800+ reviews and iOS has a rating of 3.2/5 with 940+ reviews.

Customer Service

Our reviewers also state issues with unanswered phone messages and emails after contacting Guardzilla support for customer service. This is a bad sign for such a new company in the marketplace.

Limited Products

Guardzilla only has six security camera options to choose from. Many security companies have a wider variety of products, making Guardzilla a less robust provider. Guardzilla offers the following security cameras:

  • 360 Outdoor Camera: 360° HD Video, AC/DC Power, 2-Way Talk/Listen, and 90dB alarm
  • 180 Outdoor Camera: 180° HD Video, AC/DC Power, Night Vision, and 2-Way Talk/Listen
  • 360 Indoor Camera: 360° HD Video, 2-Way Talk/Listen, and 100dB Siren
  • 180 Indoor Camera: 180° HD Video, 100dB siren, Night Vision, and 2-Way Talk/Listen
  • Outdoor HD Camera: Weatherproof, HD Video, and AC/DC Power
  • Indoor HD Camera: HD Video, 100dB Siren, Night Vision, and Auto-Arm

The Bottom Line

At its worst, the Guardzilla security camera could be considered a gimmicky attempt at easy security, though the controls and image quality have been improved from earlier versions. Considering its low price, however, it's arguably a worthwhile investment for anyone hoping to boost their security a notch or two with either indoor or outdoor cameras and a wide-angle lens offering HD video with either 180 or 360-degree field of view.

If you're looking for the peace of mind that comes from knowing there's no movement detected in the house, then the Guardzilla all-in-one security device is an affordable way to do so, especially with the new Guardzilla 360 model.

However, Guardzilla reviews are mostly negative, raising concern at the quality of the company's products and services. Be sure to check out the company's reviews below to determine if Guardzilla is the right security option for you.

For my purposes, I love the product! I have four security cameras , with. Fifth on the way. I am not a fanatic, I just want to see the basement of my house, key rooms in the house and the perimeter of my grounds anywhere in the world I also have 3 other cameras from other companies that provide a sense of security for me, whether I am home or away. Setting up Guardzilla cameras are easy to work with, they provide good live pics day and night and they are easy to install and maintain. The negatives: I deal with four different brands of security cameras, I must say Guardzilla is the most difficult to get customer assistance from, especially LIVE, SOMEBODY TO TALK TO! The best is Kuna with Ring a close second and Night Owl, not too far behind! All four of the companies do their job for the most part. To end on a positive note for Guardzilla: Their cameras are very easy to set-up and their prices are the BEST!

Read this review first! So I started with lithium batteries and was disappointed because it would active for no reason. Also I suggest spending the 5 bucks a month for the cloud because you in turn get 30 second clips. I was also disappointed that the batteries only lasted 2 weeks. HOWEVER, I decided to run the wires and avoid battery cost after experimenting with rechargeable batteries. They work perfectly now! Only picks up ppl moving and large objects. As far as what quality of picture to use, it depends on the distance from wifi and quality of wifi. Basically, run the wires and get the cloud plan and these will be the cameras you're looking for!

The cameras just worked (I have 3 of them) and I have used them for nearly 3 years now without issues. I just have the basic all-in-one cameras $99 each) and no subscriptions or cloud service. They fullfilled my needs primarily to monitor my dogs when I am not home and to check on the garage. Picture quality was good on 2 of them and fair on the third, with night vision being passable only. I never used the company's customer service. The app worked just fine with rare connection dropouts. So basically I think I got my money's worth out of these cameras for what thd price and honestly was overall satisfied with them given the lower quality of the product in general. Unfortunately, and to my chagrin, I was not able to connect to yhe cameras via the app today, and just found out that the company went out of business. And that's that... Time to start looking for another set of cameras...

I had purchased the guardzilla all in one initially due to it being on clearance and i wanted to see how these things worked. I was rather happy with the product for almost a year when suddenly I got a message saying there was an update for the camera. When I updated the camera the camera stopped working. Until then the picture quality was acceptable and night vision even worked pretty good. When I contacted the company about the issue they said I would have to ship it to them to get it repaired (the shipping was more than I paid for the camera so I still have a non functional all-in-one. As I still wanted a camera and the clearance prices were still good on these I decided to give them another shot with the 360°; so far it has worked pretty good but picture quality isn’t the best and there are many times it will freeze when viewing. The biggest downfall the 360 has is that you MUST purchase a subscription to the cloud to record as there is no sd slot as the all-in-one has. I don’t personally think I would stick with this brand for future purchases.

I have had four Guardzilla 180 Outdoor Cameras for several years, and loved them. I understand that Guardzilla went bankrupt in June, and with no warning, shut down their customer service, phones, and servers. This has disabled everyone's cameras, and made them useless. I read rumors that someone is putting together a law suit. I was happy with my cameras, until now. I was paying for cloud storage, using PayPal. PayPal reinbursed me for my last Cloud storge payment. I am still out over $400.00, and just had to purchase another security system for $600.00. This is a real bummer!!!!

I have had two Guardzilla cameras for two years and they have worked well. Starting on 5/31/20 I could not log into the phone app, could not get the app to send me an email for forgot password, and the Guardzilla website has been now down for two days. No way to contact the company. Wondering if they closed shop? My ratings are based on before the current issue, as I don't really know what is happening now.

Simply never worked. I bought a camera from Walmart and it just wouldn't connect to wifi no matter what I tried. Customer service through email only. That is ridiculous I do not have time for days of back and for the email trouble shooting steps. I'm not a tech, that's their job to fix. I returned it to the store and the employee who helped me stated that they get a lot of returns on guardzilla products in general for not being able to connect. I will never buy the brand again.

Bought this camera last July.. it worked well for what I needed it for. There were a few instances where I was not receiving notifications/movement alerts did not record video, but eventually this would get corrected. Over the last few weeks I was unable to receive any kind of notification but was at least still able to access the feed. At some point I was logged out and I kept receiving an error message every time I would attempt to login. Found out yesterday when trying to go to their support page that Guardzilla is no longer in business - ahhh???? So now what, the camera is just completely useless??? Not at all happy!!!! Is there any way to still access a live feed when your at least connected through your own WiFi???? because this is some BS!!!

Bought a 360 indoor camera from them and it worked ok until a few weeks ago then it stopped and I can’t login. I tried to contact the support team but the webpage is unavailable and the phone number is out of service. The camera itself is not very good as the picture isn’t always clear and night vision is just par at best. I took it down and bought a camera at Walmart made by Merkury for $27 and it has HD and great night vision and is 10x the camera of the 360. The ONLY drawback is it doesn’t give a 360 degree view. Don’t waste your money on the clowns at Guardzilla. I think they took the money and ran

Yeah - so I bought this on base (yes, military) and it was $199.99 - looked awesome, had all The features I was looking for (WiFi, 360•, HD, cheap cloud storage, mountable, alert, alarm and you can talk to the person) - perfect product right? Wrong! This thing sucks. It dropped connection, did not detect movement, actually didn’t even go off the majority of the times. The app would crash when I set movement and noise sensitivity. Messages and alerts would not be sent via email, text or notification. And the final straw - I went into the location I had it installed, opened the door, walked in (while it was armed), spent about 5 mins in the area (about 2-3 feet away from Guardzilla 360 mounted on the ceiling) no alarm those first 5 minutes - then the alarm goes off - startled me - I went to “Disarm” via the app, and the App logged me out and was having technical issues. I was done! 21 days - unplugged and back to base for a refund. Don’t waste your money - get a high end product for $30-50 more.

The camera itself is really not bad. It does have problems going on and off line sometimes and can't connect at times so if you need really accurate and at the moment live viewing, you might look for a better quality. My biggest complaint however is there god-awful customer service. There used to be a phone number now there is none. It takes them forever to answer an email and this is the worst: My camera completely stopped working so they told me to mail it to them which I did and I did not have to pay for that but I have not gotten the camera back and it's been almost a month. They have stopped answering my emails about where the camera is. So now they have my camera that I paid for back in their hands that they can reuse and are now ignoring me and not sending me back either a fixed camera or a new camera as they promised. The customer service sucks and I would never ever ever buy anything from them again.

If I could give less stars I would. I noticed a blue indicator light on the device which surprised me because it's always green. Then I began to receive random pictures of myself sent to my phone. It turns out the blue light means it's recording. I don't have my device set up for monitoring, yet on more than one occasion, the device sent multiple pictures (52 in total). It never does this when I'm not home. I reached out to Guardzilla customer service via email multiple times and then through the Better Business Bureau. Still no response. I finally got through on the phones and was promised a call back by upper management. That phone call never came....but the monitoring stopped.

What attracted me to this product is that it was relatively cheap and can be used with no monthly fee. If you choose not to pay a monthly fee the camera is almost worthless and the product is cheap for a reason. Very poor quality and constant application issues. I have had my camera for less than a year and the only thing I can view when I try to monitor with it is a blank white screen. Customer support is almost non existent too. Can't get anyone on the phone or in the chat window. I think you can email but at this point I am going to cut my losses and would not recommend Guardzilla for your home security needs. Spend a little more money and get a quality product that works.

My girlfriend and I bought 3 of these all in one security cams. At first it was difficult to get working. With no help from Gaurdzilla, I figured it out and they worked great that is until they updated the app. First problem I noticed was if your viewing it out in public it would not work if you were using Bluetooth. So if you were checking on your kids everyonevareoubd you would hear. Second issue it would start lagging weather I was in a good WiFi or on phone data. Then one morning I got a message that there was a new firmware update. I figured they come up for a fix so I went ahead and updated the firmware on 2 out of the 3 cameras. Now thosec2 cameras DO NOT WORK at all, can not reset them. Customer service is a joke. I explained to them what the issue I was having to the T and they tell me I should reset the camera. Save yourself some time and money DO NOT BUY GAURDZILLA!!!!

Purchased my Guarziila outdoor 360 about 6 months ago. The first camera failed in 2 weeks. I made about 10 texts and calls before getting help. I received a replacement and it works, but not very well. I have tried to contact support so many times with no response that I have given up. The Camera video is terrible and the app is even worse. You would be wise to pass up on this camera. As a point of reference I m very tech savvy.

I ordered three indoor/outdoor 180 cameras. Upon setup one struggled to be setup. After four attempts it finally setup and I connected the first camera to try it out. To my dismay the view is not 180degrees as advertised. It is more like 90 degrees viewing unless you reposition the camera. Secondly the first camera didn't make it through the night with a consistent connection to the wiri network. It repeatedly would disconnect and lockup. Thinking it may be a troublesome camera I connected the second camera only to experience the same scenario. After a 2 days the second camera completely died and I was unable to reset it even with a hard reboot. I contacted support online three or four times before finally acquiring an RMA#. After returning the cameras and paying the shipping, I received notification the cameras were received. That was a month ago. I have since requested resolution three or four times with no response form Guardzilla. I feel I've been scammed out of $300. 00 and my only recourse will be to take legal action to recover my losses. I would not reccommend ever dealing with this company. They are not responsive to customers. Although they provide a chat support time there is no link to initiate a chat with support. Keith

We were given Guardzilla as a Christmas gift to keep track of our dogs while away from our home. It more than not won’t go from connecting to disabled. When it does disable 50% of the time it freezes and you have go out of the app and start over. As of 11/18 the app isn’t working and they have “no eta” really?

I own 7 of these cameras and they worked reasonably well until about 2 days ago when they ALL stopped sending video. They will only send a snapshot when polled. Over the period of time I have purchased these units, their customer service has gone from phoning a human in the US, chatting with a human abroad, to emailing and maybe getting a useless generic answer days later. Even though this problem appears to be a result of their latest software, they suggest deleting and resetting each camera even though some were mounted in remote, difficult to reach locations. This is all independent of the fact they may look at the video on your cameras at any time and do as they wish with the data. I'm worried I need to junk the entire system and go with something else.

If this company is less than a year old, they just bought it from someone else as I have had two cameras I bought at Best Buy in 2015. The system was buggy and then in 2016 the app seemed to improve. Since then (now July 2018) it does not want to connect away from home on my iPhone 7. I can get the camera set up at home on my own WiFi and then nothing away from home. I then made the mistake of purchasing the 4.99 per month cloud storage as I was going on a trip. Have never been able to access nor can not cancel the subscription. The app settings and support states I need to cancel in the Apple AppStore. The AppStore description states I can cancel inside the App under settings with no further instructions. Neither one provides the opportunity. I am about to go to the Florida Consumer Protection and State Attorney General. Update - what is never explained by the company is that the subscription is not cancelled under the Guardzilla App itself but under your generic AppStore settings where after searching I found a tab for “subscriptions”. My account is now canceled. This does not change my 1 star rating as the support should provide better instructions that clearly inform the consumer how to cancel the cloud storage... it only cost me 13 months of a monthly charge and great frustration. During the 13 months never was I able to access my video on my smart phone when away from home.

If the app actually works, which is about half the time, it's a decent system overall for $100 bucks. My issue with the company is their CONSTANT push notifications about promos! I filed a complaint again this company in June regarding the push notifications. I don't think a security system company should sent out push notifications, or at least have an opt-out option. I mean, if you see a notification on your phone, your first thought is your system is going off! I was told by their company that I would be taken off! This morning, I woke up with HUNDREDS of notification - one every MINUTE since yesterday evening! They are still being pushed out every minute about a stupid holiday promo! I am deleting the app, so it doesn't drain my batter, and sent them an email. Their up selling promos are ridiculous!! Often times if you open the app, you can't go around their homescreen promo without shutting down the app!!! Ridiculous!!

The outdoor camera is a piece of junk. It disarmed itself constantly and was unreliable. Calls to support went to voicemail, with a promise to return calls within 24 hours. They never did. Any time you touched a button on the app, the camera went to sleep or showed searching for camera, all day sometimes before it would arm. I had a motion detection at my front door at 4:01 AM, so I pressed live view. The camera disarmed. That was worthless! I have no idea who was out there. Another thing, I paid the $89 to get videos for a year. After the first week, it stopped recording videos. It only sent texts when it detected motion but no pictures. I returned this to Wal-Mart. This company should stop selling products. There are so many complaints it seems fraudulent to stay in business.

the camera works fine and does notify you when it sees movement for 7 seconds when you go to review. i I needed more than that so i signed up for the 7 day 30 second of video for 4.99 a month and if worked well i would upgrade. It did not work and no matter how many times i called there customer service or chatted with them online they made every said i should unplug for 1 hour while they reset and then it was they were going to have a supervisor call ( they never did) then they were going to escalate to someone higher. The next time i called they would ask do you have a ticket number ( no one ever offered me a ticket number) and the same conversation would start and never with any resolve. I canceled my subscription and only lost the 4.99 but still pissed me off. so now I have 2 cameras that only record for 7 seconds. I am sorry I ever bought these cameras. They do not follow thru and they take the money and never give you the service. Just so wrong!!!

I regrettably have 6 Guardzilla cameras at two locations. The HD quality of the new outdoor camera is far superior to the original indoor canera, but I get repeated false alarms with the outdoor camera. Customer service. ..well...it sucks. Emails go unanwered. Calls for setup help are answered and they do help, but tech questions never get answered and promised followup calls never arrive. Because emails were not answered I decided to write CEO Ted Seibenman a letter, but the corporate address was not to be found. So, I found their registered agent (attorney) through the state's corporate filing and sent a letter via him. Seibenman did call and even sent a free camera, but I am still waiting for techie answers regarding false alarms, trying to set cameras to different levels of sensitivity, etc. You'd think after a guy spoke with the CEO his file might get flagged for special attention...but apparently not so. I cannot in good conscience recommend Guardzilla /Practecol Inc. Sorry Ted, you have had months to get my account straightwd out, but you didnt. Oh....battery compartment door came off the outdoor camera and it's going back for warranty replacement. That took over a month of email attempts and a direct text to Seibenman's cell went unansweref.

This is a decent outdoor camera for $100. however the Guardzilla app absolutely sucks. Videos have not recorded on my camera for the past 3 days even though I get notifications that there is motion. Totally unreliable equipment for any use. I help trap lost dogs and rely on wireless camera equipment to assist in this process. Very disappointed and dissatisfied with Guardzilla. Will never purchase again!

Lousy customer service number1 !! Nobody ever gets to you about anything. I'm still waiting for another e-mail on my continuing issue !! Number 2 apparently Guardzilla had an update and now my camera doesn't work at all. Its been fine for months but the past 2 months I'm calling ,chatting, emails nothing back. Looks like I'll be going elsewhere for a DEPENDABLE camera!!

We have 3,cameras 4 th one got stolen from our garage. We’ve had them 2 years. When we first got them we were happy with how they worked . No conectivity is due in the beginning. Each update improved until this last update in July. Doesn’t connect 90 percent of the time. Won’t connect away from home anymore. App crashes after a few minutes of watching the camera. Terrible customer service. They never resolved the issue. I want to throw them in my fire pit. Getting something else. I do not reccomended.

Awful customer service you have to chat through the internet, talking to NICK right now who won't answer me(because they don't answer emails), and just says they are working on fixing the problem. told him I didn't pay 100.00 on a camera for them to screw with the app that now has my camera not working, only answer I got from him was they are working on it and I cannot give you an ETA because I don't know... really Guardzilla really, I can betcha the next one I buy won't be from them!

The reason I gave it a one star is because they don’t have a minus one star.... totally useless security system, I have two that are headed to the garbage. Will not hold programming, auto arm does not work.... does not alarm.... provides a false sense of security. They worked fine for awhile, they changed their that does not match their documentation and made the the alarm units useless..... DON’T BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP !!!!

There are two problems with Guardzilla. The first one is the incredible number of false alarms. I get at least two per day, and I have tried changing the sensitivity level and it makes no difference. The second problem is that the app does not seem to recognize that there are two users. When I come and go the Guardzilla disarms and arms properly. When my husband comes home it treats him as a intruder and when he drives away it ignores the app instructions for arming and disarming. I really can’t stand this device but now that I invested $100, I don’t really have money to start over

The recordings get deleted...They have more adds than what's suppose to show in recordings...when a thief is in the home only records when hes giving his back and never showing the front of the face that triggered the camera to start recording...DO NOT BUY..Its not even good for a baby monitor....Oh and now they deleted phone support and the chat never works!! Very bad service and support..I give a -10 stars

I bought a Guardzilla to watch my home while away on Summer vacation, and it worked ok for one week, I then let it sit, unused, until the following Summer, and then it would no longer connect to my Android phone or my wife's iPhone. Their Customer service was difficult to reach, but when reached, they are not helpful. Basically I have a $99 paperweight. DO NOT BUY a Guardzilla product. Bad product and bad service.

I currently have 5 cameras from guard I’ll, for nothing. I think it’s highly unprofessional of the company to abruptly shut its doors/app and not advise customers through email or something. While in use, I enjoyed the system, which is all to be said. I believe customers should be entitled to payback for a system that no longer works.

As of today, I found an announcement from Guardzilla stating they have closed and will no longer support any of their products. They blamed it on Covid-19, but I'm afraid this was merely the excuse they used to finally abandon all of their products. Their phone and website are gone. $700 worth of door stops.

I actually liked this device. Yes it dropped off line occasionally but no big deal. I could check on my senior mother in her house. BUT NOW...what the heck happened? Nothing in the app works! And their website shows nothing!

I have had repeated problems with this system since I bought it. I can no longer log into my system and I have repeatedly requested help to reset my password. I have had no responses from customer service. I would not recommend this company or its products.

Would give it no stars, couldn't register the device on Guardzilla web site, no customer service help, tried to install again and the item then threw a Trojan into my computer resulting in loss of Cox internet service (verified by Cox security) This thing is junk. I purchased it through Heartland America and they agreed to take it back

I have 2 indoor HD cameras that worked fine until Guardzilla did updates, now only frozen snapshots and no live streaming. Customer Support is nonexistent , no response no phone number. I will make sure the next brand that I buy will have a phone number for customer support. You can be sure that I will never buy Guardzilla again.
