High Financial Strength Ratings

Amica has received a high financial strength rating from A.M. Best. This rating shows that the insurer is financially stable and will likely be able to make necessary claims payments.

Dividend Policies Available

Amica stands out from other insurance companies because it offers home insurance policies that can earn dividends.

Amica can make this offer because it is a mutually owned company. Although you may pay a higher premium for a dividend-earning policy, you can earn dividends up to 20 percent of your annual premium.

Competitive Coverage and Discounts

Through Amica, you'll find the standard coverage options for insurance like dwelling, other structures, personal property, loss of use, and personal liability coverage.

You can increase your coverage to include identity fraud expense coverage, home business coverage, and more.

Amica's signature Platinum Choice Home® policy offers replacement cost coverage for the dwelling and personal property. It also includes coverage for water backup/sump overflow, computer, credit card, business property, valuable items, liability, and medical payments coverage. It also includes a loss assessment plan.

You'll also benefit from many ways to save when choosing Amica:

Many insurers offer similar discounts, so these offerings make Amica competitive.

Contractor Connection Service

Amica offers a Contractor Connection service to help its policyholders connect with licensed contractors when they need repairs on their home. This kind of service isn't commonly offered by insurers, so it can make Amica an advantageous choice.

Additional Insurance Product Options

In addition to home insurance, Amica offers home business coverage, renters, and condo insurance. You can also get assistance purchasing flood insurance.

The Bottom Line

My home was insured with a major brand for which you see TV commercials and stadium naming rights. The cost was very competitive, but when it came time to help us repair our roof after multiple hail storms in our area, we were denied each time. Found out about Amica and did a little research. Amica has been around for a long time and has an excellent customer service track record. After hearing honest reasoning for the expected premium on our house, I decided to make the switch. Amica is not the cheapest insurance, but they are there to help explain what the insurance does and why it may be at a particular cost. Thankfully, we have not had to make a claim yet, but I feel Amica's service and claim teams will be much more helpful than our last insurance company. For what it's worth, if your insurance company spends millions on TV ads, stadium naming rights, and other marketing, guess who pays for that? Amica seems to put most of its money back into the service and support of its customers. They do advertise, they have to, but it seems appropriate and not at the expense of their customers. Amica seems to put customers, not shareholders, first. If I had one wish, slightly better premium prices would put them over the top and unquestionable five stars. It's 4.5 stars from me even though I can only choose four stars. :)

They are in the process of settling a claim for an incident that happened on our property perpetrated by our neighbor who cut down our tree. Not satisfied with the settlement.
