The Good

  • Plan Options
  • Member Benefits
  • Insurance For Employers

Plans Available

Florida Blue offers health plans for individuals and families. To view a health insurance plan's coverage and monthly premium costs, input your zip code and other demographic information on Florida Blue's website.

Medicare beneficiaries can also find Medicare Advantage plans, Medigap (Medicare supplement plans), and prescription drug coverage through Florida Blue.

Member Benefits

Like many health insurers, Florida Blue offers 24/7 virtual health care. This benefit allows members to get advice and have access to health care professionals all the time. It's useful for non-emergency situations.

Florida Blue stands out with its Florida Blue Centers. At these centers, members can take free fitness classes, participate in wellness programs, work with insurance agents, learn more about health care tech, and more.

Florida Blue members can also participate in Blue365 for wellness rewards and discounts.

Insurance for Employers

Florida Blue also offers group health insurance plans to employers. In addition to group health insurance plans, Florida Blue also carries dental, life, vision, and disability insurance.

Employers can also offer voluntary life insurance, critical illness, hospital, and accident insurance through Florida Blue.

The Bad

  • Insufficient Customer Insight
  • Limited Service Area

Insufficient Customer Insight

Florida Blue reviews are few on BestCompany.com, so conclusions on customer satisfaction and the customer experience are not available.

Limited Service Area

Florida Blue's plans are not available in every state. If Florida Blue doesn't offer plans in your area, you may need to consider other health insurers or look for another BlueCross BlueShield subsidiary or another health insurance company.

The Bottom Line

More reviews are necessary to understand the customer experience with Florida Blue. However, the insurer has many positive aspects that make Florida Blue insurance worth exploring further.

Its Florida Blue Centers are great resources for health information and maintaining healthy habits. The centers also help Florida Blue members understand their health insurance.

People outside of Florida Blue's service area will need to find another provider. To those in its service area, the insurer offers helpful member benefits and good plan options.

For more information on Florida Blue plans and costs, you should work with the company directly.

Jim Schoen St. Petersburg, FL

I pay over $12,000 annually and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida (aka Florida Blue) provides very minimal benefits and lots of hassle for that cost. While Blue Cross / Blue Shield is generally a very good company, few know that this is just a brand licensee and the Blue Cross / Blue Shield in all states are independent licensed companies. I had great experience with Blue Cross / Blue Shield in other states - BUT in Florida, STAY AWAY from this terrible company. They will not even approve my standard recurring prescriptions for common health conditions. Stuff that was covered by Blue Cross / Blue Shield in other state(s) is rejected by Florida Blue. STAY AWAY FROM FLORIDA BLUE!
