The Bad

  • Free Sample Limitations

Free Sample Limitations

We love that you can get a free sample before investing a lot of money in foods you may not even like. However, you can't choose which entree sample you'll get, you need to pay to ship ($1.99), and the website says the free sample is available to customers for a "very limited time only."

The Bottom Line

Daily Bread emergency food carries high-quality products and makes it easy to find foods that suit your needs if you have a specialty diet or have a food allergy. Plus, Daily Bread has a flat-rate shipping fee depending on how much you buy and orders over $150.00 ship free. However, there are companies that let you choose your own samples to try, giving you a taste of multiple products instead of just one as Daily Bread does.

Joel Houston, TX

I bought a 5 year supply for 1 (1 year for 5) in 2011. It’s now August 2020. Over the years I’ve opened a can here and there to test the quality and edibility of the food. Overall the food is edible. Sometimes the taste is fine and sometimes it has a metallic taste. I’ve had to discard all of the Blueberry Pancake mix cans as they were bloated. I couldn’t risk the cans rupturing. I was told by Daily Bread that it was excess nitrogen. Today I opened a can of Strawberry Creamed Wheat. It was one big rock. I shook the other cans of the same and all were solid.
