  • Customization Options
  • Strong Warranty Coverage

Wide Range of Door Styles and Materials

Andersen offers an extensive selection of door types and materials, allowing homeowners to find the perfect match for their home’s style and functional needs. Their product lineup includes:

  • Patio Doors: Andersen’s patio door options include sliding, French-style, and bi-fold doors, offering a variety of designs to suit both traditional and contemporary homes. The A-Series patio doors feature wood interiors with customizable exterior cladding, while the 200 Series and 100 Series provide more budget-friendly vinyl or composite options.
  • Entry Doors: Andersen offers custom entry doors through their Heritage Series, which allows homeowners to choose from a range of materials including wood, fiberglass, and steel, as well as custom hardware and glass options.
  • Storm Doors: The Andersen Storm Door line is highly popular for adding an extra layer of protection and energy efficiency. These doors are available in multiple styles with features like retractable screens, full glass panels, and various finishes to complement any entryway.

This range of options ensures that Andersen has a door solution for virtually any architectural style or budget, whether you're looking to create a bold entryway or seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor living spaces.

High-Quality Materials and Construction

Andersen is known for using high-quality materials in their door products, ensuring durability and long-term performance. Their wood doors, available in the A-Series and E-Series, are crafted from solid wood species such as pine, oak, and maple, providing a classic look with modern durability. The Fibrex® composite material used in the 100 Series combines the strength of wood with the low-maintenance qualities of vinyl, offering a sustainable and energy-efficient alternative. Andersen’s doors are built to withstand various weather conditions, making them a reliable choice for homes in different climates.

Energy-Efficient Glass Options

Andersen emphasizes energy efficiency across their door products, offering Low-E glass, double- and triple-pane configurations, and argon gas fills to enhance thermal performance. These features help minimize heat transfer, keeping homes cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, which can result in significant savings on energy bills. Many Andersen doors are ENERGY STAR® certified, providing peace of mind for homeowners looking to improve the energy efficiency of their home without sacrificing style.

Customization Options for a Personalized Look

Andersen doors are highly customizable, allowing homeowners to tailor their doors to their specific aesthetic and functional preferences. With options for different hardware finishes, interior and exterior colors, grille patterns, and glass designs, homeowners can create a truly unique door that complements their home’s design. For example, the E-Series doors allow for over 50 exterior colors and custom sizing, making them ideal for homeowners looking to make a design statement. This level of flexibility is particularly beneficial for those looking to maintain architectural integrity or achieve a distinctive look.

Strong Warranty Coverage

Andersen backs their door products with a robust warranty, which varies by series but generally includes 20 years of coverage for glass and 10 years for non-glass components. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, ensuring that homeowners are protected in the event of manufacturing issues. Andersen’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction is further reflected in their limited lifetime warranty on their storm doors, offering protection against issues like warping or corrosion. This warranty coverage provides long-term peace of mind for homeowners investing in Andersen’s door products.

The Bad

  • Higher Upfront Costs
  • Professional Installation Recommended
  • Longer Lead Times for Custom Orders

Higher Upfront Costs Compared to Some Competitors

Andersen’s door products are known for their premium quality, but this also means that they come with a higher price tag compared to budget brands. While the durability and energy efficiency of Andersen’s products can justify the cost over time, homeowners with tight budgets may find these prices to be a hurdle. The cost of Andersen doors can vary significantly depending on the series, materials, and customization options, including:

  • A-Series (Wood with Aluminum Cladding): $3,000 - $7,000 per door, including installation.
  • E-Series (Custom Wood with Aluminum Cladding): $4,000 - $10,000 per door, depending on custom features and installation.
  • 100 Series (Fibrex Composite): $1,500 - $3,500 per door, including installation.
  • 400 Series French Doors: $2,500 - $6,000 per door, offering a balance between traditional style and modern energy efficiency.
  • Storm Doors: $300 - $800, with installation costs typically ranging from $100 to $300.

Costs can vary based on factors like door size, glass options, hardware, and local labor rates. For a precise quote, it’s best to work directly with an authorized Andersen dealer.

Professional Installation Recommended

Due to the quality and complexity of Andersen’s door products, professional installation is highly recommended. This can add to the overall cost of the project, with installation fees often ranging from $500 to $1,500 per door, depending on the complexity and location. While professional installation ensures that the doors are correctly fitted and function properly, homeowners looking for a DIY solution may find this to be a disadvantage. Improper installation can affect the performance of the doors, so it’s often necessary to factor in the cost of hiring an experienced installer.

Longer Lead Times for Custom Orders

Andersen’s emphasis on customization and made-to-order options can lead to longer lead times for delivery and installation, particularly for highly customized doors in the E- or A-Series. Homeowners seeking a quick turnaround may need to be patient, as custom doors can take several weeks or even a few months to manufacture and deliver. While this is typical for premium door manufacturers, it can be inconvenient for those who need a fast replacement or have a tight renovation timeline.

The Bottom Line

Andersen offers a range of high-quality, customizable door solutions that can elevate the look and energy efficiency of any home across all 50 states. With prices ranging from $300 to over $10,000 depending on the series and customization, Andersen doors cater to homeowners who value premium materials, design flexibility, and long-term durability. Their strong warranties and energy-efficient glass options make Andersen a good investment for those looking for a high-performance door that enhances their home’s curb appeal and comfort. While the higher upfront costs and the need for professional installation may be considerations for some, the long-term value of Andersen’s products makes them a top choice for those seeking style and reliability in their door investment.

I have installed Andersen Windows into my house over 27 years ago and the windows are great. Would not go to another window company. I have only had 1 window replaced in all these years and have even purchased an Andersen screen door for the patio door I had installed all those years ago and still working great!

Andersen Windows has a style and price for every budget! They are professional before, during and after the sale. They do not try to up-sell just to make extra money. They stand behind every product they sell and install. The new windows can make all the difference in the look of my home and help with energy conservation!

Our exterior storm door is Anderson and we love it so much that we are planning on getting another one installed on our back door as well! I just wish the you could close the door faster by hand instead of waiting for the slow close to finish.

The salesperson was friendly and accomodating but I found brand new windows for about a sixteenth of the price. They were a bit lower quality but still do the trick and look nice. Andersen's might just be marketed to elderly people with money who are mostly paying for the convenience and old school service? For a single blue collar parent, the prices are way too high.

Their patio doors are good but their budget aluminum storm doors are best avoided. Poor fit and finish, screens are permanently on lower half of doors (a disaster with small children). Closures force doors upon your heels regardless of how they're adjusted
