International Exchange Programs

For over fifty years, UCCD has fostered and created opportunities for Utah residents to meet and interact with individuals from all over the world through its exchange programs. As the only official community-based member of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), UCCD has welcomed more than 12,000 international visitors from over 200 countries to Utah.

When foreign visitors and leaders come on short-term visits to the United States, UCCD arranges meetings with local organizations and UCCD volunteers. If you would like to volunteer your time as a professional resource for foreign visitors you can email a UCCD representative for more information.

In addition to the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), UCCD hosts the following international exchange programs:

• Central and Easter European Journalists Fellowships

Variety of Events

UCCD hosts a variety of events to raise awareness and initiate conversations about world affairs and citizen diplomacy. Some of these events include the following:

• World Affairs Lecture Series — leading global voices speak on critical global issues and help shape public discourse
• Fireside Chats Podcast — discussions with Utah’s citizen diplomats
• Great Decisions Classes — a discussion group offered by the UCCD’s Foreign Policy Association
• Vivaldi by Candlelight Concert — an annual production of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons
• Strings of Diplomacy Display — an art display at the UCCD’s office in Murray, UT

Youth Programs

To inspire youth to become involved in world affairs, UCCD offers a variety of youth progams:

• Young Diplomats Leadership Certification — a leadership development program for high school students interested in engaging with the local and global community. Students interested in the certification program can apply online through the UCCD website.
• Academic WorldQuest — a global knowledge program for high school students, in which teams answer a set of questions in six global categories.
• International Youth Summit — an event for youth across Utah to hear from speakers and participate in interactive sessions and presentations.
• Global Leaders Scholarship Fund — a scholarship fund that covers international travel expenses for recipients to attend an international or national conference.
• Citizen Diplomacy Certification — a comprehensive diplomatic and international relations training program offered by the Utah civil sector.

For youth who are interested in diplomacy and global affairs, UCCD offers a variety of certifications and opportunities to learn and share knowledge.

Expansive Resource Center

In association with the Utah Peace and Diplomacy Resource Center, UCCD offers media, educational resources, and reports on its website.

Various Donation Options

You can make donations to UCCD online, through Venmo or PayPal. You can also mail in a check, if you prefer.

Each gift or donation made to UCCD includes some of the following benefits:

• Bronze Level ($1–$99) — includes UCCD membership, an invitation to private World Affairs Lecture Series speaking events, and recognition as a donor in UCCD’s annual report
• Silver Level ($100–$499) — includes all Bronze Level benefits and an invitation to participate in private Citizen Exchange Circles
• Gold Level ($500–$999) — includes all Silver Level benefits, an invitation to private VIP events, and two complimentary tickets to Vivaldi by Candlelight concert
• Platinum Level ($1,000+) — includes all Gold Level benefits and autographed books from season lecturers and presenters
