PNC Financial Services Group offers banking, borrowing, investing, and wealth management information. Their mortgage programs are offered throughout the states; however, if you're looking for checking or an auto loan you need to be east of the Mississippi river. If you're looking for a bank with values, this is it. PNC focuses on corporate responsibility, integrity, respect, and customer service.

The Good

  • Apply online
  • Personalized rates
  • Customer service options

Personalized Rates

PNC offers personalized loan rates based off of your car choice and zip code. All you have to do is enter your zip code and then PNC will generate a personalized APR options table where you can pick your loan term and the model year of your car. The newer the car, the cheaper your rate. You can apply easily online or speak to a representative over the phone. They also allow you to process your loan entirely and then arrive at the dealership with your check in your hand. This can be very convenient for customers who do not have the time to meet with a representative.

Customer Service

PNC offers easy customer service availability (phone, live chat, email, and twitter) this ensures that your loan is with a bank that cares about your experience. Additionally, PNC openly states that if you ever struggle making your payments, its best to contact them and they will help provide a solution.

The Bad

  • Availability limitations
  • APR affected by zip code
  • Lack of transparency

Availability

PNC Auto Loans has a few limitations. First, they only serve the eastern half of the United States when it comes to auto loans. So, if you're west of the Mississippi river, you're out of luck for a car loan with PNC. Secondly, your zip code will affect your APR rating. PNC will not give an APR estimate without your zip code, so depending on your neighborhood you might be paying more each month.

Lack of Transparency

PNC is also lacking a great deal of information that is pertinent to customers. Without this information, it makes it more difficult for a customer to compare companies. It also makes it difficult for our team to rank the company without this information. We would like to see PNC be more transparent regarding their application fees, APRs, term length, early-pay penalty fees, and bad credit loan options.

The Bottom Line

PNC Financial Services Group does offer great customer service, extended term lengths, and an easy online application process. However, they are lacking a great deal of information and are not available nationwide. Because of these issues, we cannot recommend working with PNC Financial Services Group at this time.

Lethia Johnson Tallahassee, FL

So i went through PNC bank to get my first car loan. I paid the car off in 1 year, instead of the 5 years, and I had a lot of questions about how that would affect me. I was able to call multiple times and have them answer my questions, and they were just so easy to work with!
