LAST UPDATED: May 23rd, 2023

Dura Supreme was founded in Minnesota in the 1950s with a vision of delivering value along with quality design choices in hand-crafted cabinetry. The company offers both framed and frameless (full-access) construction cabinetry products in a wide variety of styles, finishes, wood species, and contemporary options. Dura Supreme also offers cabinetry and furnishing throughout the home, including mudroom lockers, entryway hall trees, fireplace mantles, entertainment centers, home bars, furniture vanities, bath furniture, vanity mirrors, floating vanities/cabinetry, laundry room cabinets, media centers, kitchen islands/tables and much more.

Dura Supreme’s Crestwood cabinetry is a traditional American style — an aesthetic style that seamlessly blends into any home. The Crestwood line is perfect for various homeowners as it can easily be tailored to your home’s design.

The Bria cabinetry line features frameless (full-access) construction inspired by European cabinet-making. Frameless cabinets are an excellent option for homeowners who want versatility — as the Bria line can be made to look old-world classic or ultra-modern — but would still like easy access to their belongings and storage.

Dura Supreme has showrooms in every state, all of which are equipped with a highly trained professional designer prepared to guide you toward your dream kitchen or bath.

The Good

  • Style Versatility
  • Personal Paint Match Program
  • Showrooms
  • Sustainability Practices

Style Versatility

Whether you decide to go with Dura Supreme’s Crestwood or Bria cabinetry line, you’ll be impressed (and possibly overwhelmed) with the number of finishes, wood materials, storage, doors, and design elements there are to choose from.

Dura Supreme wood selections include cherry, maple, knotty alder, red oak, hickory, rustic hickory, and quarter-sawn white oak. There are a couple of exotic veneers such as bamboo, walnut, and shale.

This is excellent news for homeowners as the possibilities are nearly endless. You can choose a cherry wood with a cider finish for a warm tone or textured TFL with a drifted oak finish for a subtle, cool tone.

Dura Supreme’s vast selection gives homeowners the flexibility to create the home they’ve always wanted.

Personal Paint Match Program

Dura Supreme’s Personal Paint Match Program allows consumers to choose from the entire Sherwin-Williams paint palette and the Benjamin Moore paint palette — that’s over 5,000 colors to choose from — for your new kitchen or bath cabinetry.

However, if you aren’t impressed with the paint color selection, Dura Supreme offers a Custom Finish Program. With this program, Dura Supreme will create a custom finish just for you. The company promises that whether you’re trying to coordinate with a piece of furniture or match a color from a priceless family heirloom, it can match it.

Showrooms

If you’re on the fence about purchasing cabinetry without first seeing it in person, you may want to use Dura Supreme’s Showroom Finder tool. With this tool, you can search for a Dura Supreme showroom near you. All you need to do is enter your state or zip code, and the finder will pull up all the places where you can take a look at your options in person.

Sustainability Practices

Dura Supreme prides itself on being a planet-conscious company. The company states that it is dedicated to protecting the environment and highly values its natural resources. In fact, Dura Supreme recycles 99.9 percent of its wood waste and reuses it as livestock bedding, has recycling stations (paper, plastic, etc.) throughout its facility, and uses motion sensors and programmable thermostats in the office to reduce the use of heat and light.

Dura Supreme cabinets are also certified under the Environmental Stewardship Program. This certification is from the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association or the KCMA and is only given to companies that exemplify environmentally responsible processes and green practices.

Even more impressive is that the KCMA reviews each company annually to ensure everything complies with its standards. This proves to us that Dura Supreme is committed to supporting sustainability.

The Bad

  • No Visualization Tool
  • Unsatisfied Customers

No Visualization Tool

Unfortunately, Dura Supreme has no way for homeowners to see what their new cabinets will look like in their home. When it comes to building or remodeling a home, many consumers want to see if their flooring of choice clashes against the wall color or their furniture.

It’s not a deal-breaker that Dura Supreme doesn’t include this tool on its website, but it would be nice if Dura Supreme offered some way for consumers to visualize what their cabinets might look like.

Unsatisfied Customers

While there is a lot of information about how to prepare for a remodel or choose the best color for your home, there is little information on what options are available for customers who aren’t satisfied with the final product. Dura Supreme doesn’t appear to have any type of satisfaction guarantee, so there are no promises that the company will come back and fix whatever your issue is.

However, the company does focus on customer service, so it’s possible you could work something out with the company, but it might be on a case-by-case basis.

The Bottom Line

If you’re in the market for new kitchen or bathroom cabinets, Dura Supreme is a well-established and reputable company. Having been in business for over 65 years, the company has managed to keep up with the ever-changing modern designs. However, don’t discard Dura Supreme’s more classic and traditional cabinet styles. The classic is a classic for a reason and manages to seamlessly blend in with various architectural styles and home designs.

Dura Supreme has showrooms scattered across the United States and is a great resource for homeowners to view the products and styles in person. We would like to see Dura Supreme add a visualization tool onto its site, but that isn’t a deal-breaker.

Our biggest concern is that we don’t know exactly if Dura Supreme offers any type of satisfaction guarantee or other options for unsatisfied customers. With this company, customers have a lot of say in what the final product will be — customers choose the wood type, finish, paint, etc. — so if you’re unhappy, you might be out of luck. That said, Dura Supreme does put a lot of focus on customer service and together, you might be able to work something out.

I am a prior customer of Durasupreme for a total house remodel (and informed the regional and VP of sales) and had been impressed by the quality of the product, so when were remodeling a bathroom, we chose this company again. We ordered ~$12,000 worth of cabinets in APR21 with a delivery date of 4-6 weeks and informed the contractor who demolished the current bathroom. Approximately 1 week after doing so, the local vendor informed us the delivery date would now be AUG21. The vendor complained to Durasuprems and was able to wrangle a JUL21 delivery date. The real issues began with the delivery of this order, marked as complete and inspected by Durasupreme. Evidently damaged doors, a missing door, mismatched panels and a mirror that had the mounting holes drilled on the incorrect side constitutes a complete and inspected product at Durasupreme. The local vendor was contacted and finally weeks later the replacement and original parts arrived. As one would expect, the contractor who had to return to the jobsite on 2 additional occasions charged fro his services. When I contacted Durasupreme to inquire about what compensation was in order, I was met with a cacophony of gibberish that they had met the warranty and also it was “industry standard” to ship an order with missing or backordered parts. That would have been nice information to pass on the the vendor or the customer perhaps? After numerous calls and emails, I finally was granted a call with the vaunted VP of sales, who after spending 10 minutes telling me how great his company was and all the meetings they had over my issues with this order, flatly denied that any funds were due in spite of this laughable production issue and customer service. Do yourself a favor and find another cabinet company as Durasupreme now delivers supremely priced products, 3 Stooges level handcraft and abysmal customer service

Thank you for selecting our cabinetry for your home and for taking the time to bring your concern to our attention. We take pride in the quality and craftsmanship of our cabinetry and strive to provide exceptional customer care throughout all stages of a project.

Since our cabinetry is hand-made, there can be natural variances in the wood or finish. We package orders carefully, but sometimes accidental damage occurs during delivery. Although our team makes an extra effort to process and produce any replacement pieces as quickly as possible, our cabinets are hand-crafted, and there is still time that must be invested in each piece.

We are sincerely sorry to hear about your experience and have replaced the damaged cabinetry as quickly as possible.
