Canine Ancestral Diet

We Feed Raw’s meal plans are built upon the canine ancestral feeding style, consisting of approximately 80 percent meaty meat (muscle meat and connective tissue and fat), 10 percent organ meat (all of which is secreting organ), and 10 percent edible bone. Included in the meals is a high-quality vitamin and mineral premix for a boost of nutrition.

All ingredients are sourced and made in the United States, except for lamb and venison, which are sourced from New Zealand. All of We Feed Raw’s recipes are formulated by a Ph.D. animal nutritionist who has over 30 years of experience in raw feeding and animal nutrition.  

Raw Meal Plan or 5 LB Patties

Owners can choose a meal plan that works for their dog, their lifestyle, and their budget. To ensure each pet is getting the nutrients they need, pet owners will create a profile of their pet(s), including age, breed, size, and any food allergies.

They can then choose to feed a percentage of raw (25%, 50%, 75% or 100%) and a meal plan will be created accordingly. Depending on the size and needs of your dog — big or small, active or leisurely — you can swap a few fresh, raw meals into their diet for as little as $2–$4 per week.

All new customers (whether your pet is already on raw or not) will get a trial box as their first order. The length of the trial depends on the percentage of raw you're going to feed, as well as your dog's weight, activity level, and other specific details. When you get to checkout, you'll be shown the length of time, cost, and associated discount for your trial box.

Pet owners can also purchase 5 lb bulk raw meat patties made of meaty muscle, organ meat, and edible bone. These aren't pre-portioned, so customers will have to portion them out themselves. Bulk patties must be purchased in 30 lb increments.

Food Safety Program

We Feed Raw uses high-pressure processing (HPP) on all of its meats. This approach does not use heat, chemicals, unnatural additives, or preservatives, but uses pressure to reduce pathogenic bacteria. 

We Feed Raw also states that the HPP process is extremely effective at neutralizing Salmonella, E.coli, and Listeria. 

We commend We Feed Raw for this process as many raw pet food companies use HPP because it is the most natural way to reduce harmful bacteria while preserving nutrients. 

Eco-Friendly Shipping

We Feed Raw uses biodegradable, compostable coolers to deliver its products. The coolers are filled with dry ice to keep the food wholly frozen. 

When you’re done with the cooler, simply run it under some water, and the cooler will dissolve within a few minutes.

However, the company allows customers to customize their meal plans to incorporate a smaller percentage of raw food. For example, you could sign up for a meal plan that incorporates just 25% raw food from We Feed Raw. Customers who want to serve their pets a raw food diet but cringe at the cost will appreciate this flexibility. 

It’s important to note that the company offers free shipping to the contiguous 48 states, a savings which may help offset the higher cost of the food.

Perishable Product Affects Shipping and Return Policies

Due to the perishable nature of the product, the policies regarding shipping and product returns may be different than standard dry pet food companies. If you are using the subscription service option, you may cancel your subscription at any time.

Any open orders must be canceled by Sunday at 8 p.m. before the week your order is scheduled to ship. Orders can’t be canceled or refunded after that time. 

Because We Feed Raw is shipping perishable products, the company does not accept returns.
