Pennsylvania State Employee Credit Union, PSECU, was started over 80 years ago by 22 state employees that wanted to take control of their finances. It is still member-owned to this day and going strong as one of Pennsylvania's largest credit unions. Providing top-level benefits (competitive loan rates, mobile and online banking, and access to thousands of surcharge-free ATM's to name a few) is PSECU's main priority. Consumers that choose PSECU should remember that they must have a credit score of 550 or higher.
PSECU caters to personal and business financial services. Products include checking, savings, certificates, IRAs, debit and credit cards, debt consolidation, equity loans, term loans, vehicle loans, student loans, mortgages, SBA loans, equipment loans, and lines of credit. PSECU is a not-for-profit financial corporation serving more than 400,000 members and has over $4 billion in assets.
Using PESCO's mobile app, you can do banking on-the-go. Download the app to your device and access your accounts, schedule and pay bills, transfer funds among accounts, locate ATMs, and deposit checks remotely. You can also check balances with Android Wear or Apple Watch.
Safeguarding members by using the latest software, having a trained information security staff, and set procedures and policies to help maintain your safety are among PSECU's top priorities. Articles and latest information are continually being posted as new threats come about and precautions that members can take on their end. Rapport from Trusteer is available to download for free from PESCO's website as an added measure to ensure your personal and financial information is safe from cybercriminals.
PSECU gives back to the communities it serves by helping organizations that are directed towards health, education, and social justice. PSECU supports and encourages employees to participate in these organizations. The company also offers free financial education workshops to members and non-members alike.
Members have access to thousands of surcharge-free ATMs. They can be found using the ATM locator. If unable to find a surcharge-free ATM close by, members are reimbursed up to $20 a month if a member has direct deposit and up to $8 if not when using a non-network ATM. There a few retail stores that offer surcharge-free ATMs, including Rutter's, Wawa, and Sheetz.
There are two PSECU branches, one being the main headquarter. All transactions and account access are done online or by speaking to a representative on the phone or through email. To have access to funds, an ATM will need to be visited. Only Pennsylvania residents can be members of PSECU. Their website is also lacking a great deal of information. We would like to see more information regarding interest rates, fees, qualification requirements, and funding time.
Technology plays a big role in being a member with PSECU. One would need to be comfortable with banking online through a mobile device or computer, and locating nearby ATM's to put cash in your pocket.
Approximately 28,000 surcharge-free ATMs are available to access your funds, as well as online tools to manage those funds. If you need help to fill out a service application or have other questions, help is a phone call or email away. Members and non-members alike can access PSECU's financial information via a PDF download on the website. While there are not many branches to visit in-person, you will feel well taken care of while banking with PSECU. They are lacking a great deal of information and require customers to do online banking.
We're on a mission to empower consumers to make the best decisions and connect confidently with companies that deserve their business.
