Nanit launched in 2016, believing that technology could make life for new parents easier. Since launching, Nanit has developed several state-of-the-art products that allow parents unique insights into their child's development and well-being.
Nanit users can access live view from anywhere, real-time sound and motion notifications, background audio, temperature & humidity, two-way audio, white noise and nature sounds, height tracking (with Nanit Smart Sheets) up to two users with adjustable permissions.
If you purchase a Nanit Insights subscription, you'll receive access to video history, morning and evening highlight reels, sleep tracking, personalized sleep coaching, and breathing motion monitoring (with Nanit Breathing Wear).
The Nanit Pro Camera is the latest product from Nanit. This 1080p camera gives you a crystal clear overhead view of your baby's crib, day or night. The camera also comes with real-time sound and motion alerts, two-way audio, nature sounds and white noise, nightlight, 256-Bit AES encryption, and more. These features come with the purchase of the Nanit Pro and do not require a subscription.
Nanit Insights states that it "takes the guesswork out of parenting." Parents can easily view their baby's sleep data on Nanit's app.
Listed below are the features that come with Nanit Insights:
Not only are these additional features great for capturing every moment of your baby being its adorable self, but they can be extremely helpful if anything were to go wrong and you needed access to previous data.
Alongside the Nanit Pro, parents can purchase additional items that provide a sense of security while their child is napping or tucked in for the night.
For example, Nanit sells the Nanit Swaddle. This item works exclusively with the Nanit Pro or Plus nursery camera. The Swaddle and the Camera work together to monitor your baby's breathing motion (no sensor on your baby or in the crib).
Nanit also sells Smart Sheets which are compatible with all Nanit cameras, so you don't have to worry about buying an extra camera.
Parents can also buy a travel case, wall-mount, multi-stand, and more.
Nanit is not covered by insurance (due to the fact that it is not a medical device), but you can pay with an HSA/FSA card.
Keep in mind that the only products you can buy with your HSA/FSA funds are the Nanit Complete Monitoring System with Wall Mount or Floor Stand and Nanit's breathing wear.
Everything else, you'll have to pay out of pocket.
If you use a different card to make a purchase, you'll have to contact your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement.
Shoppers can finance their Nanit purchases through Affirm. Affirm is a financial technology services company that provides installment loans to consumers. There are no hidden fees and you can pay off the loan at your convenience.
Creating an Affirm account to see if you prequalify will not affect your credit score. However, if you decide to go through with the purchase and Affirm, some things may affect your credit, such as making a purchase, payment history, how much credit you use, and how long you have the credit.
Nanit sells its products through the following retailers:
Perhaps one of the biggest reasons many parents do not invest in Nanit is the cost. While having all the latest bells and whistles is nice, it doesn't come cheap.
The Nanit Pro Camera just by itself is $299. If you purchase it with the wall-mount, there is no additional cost, but if you want the floor stand, expect to pay an extra $80.
If you want the Nanit Swaddle, it's going to be an extra $49.99 The Smart Sheets are $34.99 and a Nanit Travel Case is $29.99
If you want access to all that cool data we mentioned earlier (sleep dashboard, personalized sleep tips, Sleep Tracking and Analysis), you'll need to purchase a subscription plan via Nanit Insight app. This could cost you anywhere from $50 per year to $300 per year (depending on which plan you choose).
You can see the final price just snowballs. And although Nanit's extra products, accessories, and insights are incredible, it's easy to find yourself overspending.
As far as baby monitors go, Nanit is certainly top-notch.
Nanit boasts that it is the world's smartest baby monitor — and it's kind of hard to argue with that. Nanit is using the finest technology and using it to help parents (new and experienced).
Parents can actively monitor their baby while sleeping, and the Insight app gives you real-time information regarding your child's development and well-being.
However, all these cool features come at a fairly steep price. Nanit may not be the best choice if you have a tight budget.
Nanit does offer a bundle to help offset the high cost. Parents can buy a Nanit Camera and any two add-ons or three accessories. This bundle will save you 10 percent on your entire order; or you can finance your purchase through Affirm.
