Founded by a family trying to address the adverse impacts of polluted air, Molekule was created with a goal of using the power of science to eliminate indoor air pollution around the world.
Molekule was founded in 2014 by siblings Dilip Goswami and Jaya Rao. As a young child, Dilip suffered from asthma and allergies. Their father, Dr. Yogi Goswami, was frustrated with the lack of available remedies for his son’s condition. Over the course of 20 years, Dr. Goswami created a breakthrough purification technology: PECO (Photo Electrochemical Oxidation). This technology now powers all Molekule air purifiers.
Together, the family established Molekule to help improve the lives of others.
Customers can choose from Molekule’s three air purifiers the Molekule Air, Molekule Air Mini, and the Molekule Air Mini+.
The Molekule Air is the largest purifier and covers rooms up to 600 square feet. This purifier comes with two filters the PECO filter and the Pre-Filter, which is great for larger rooms since they tend to attract a number of pollutants and having two filters adds another layer of protection. Consumers should keep in mind they’ll need to replace the PECO filter every six months and the Pre-Filter every three months for optimal use. The Air is 23” x 8.25” and weighs 18 pounds.
The Molekule Air costs $799.
The Molekule Air Mini is a bit smaller than the Air. The purifier covers a room that is up to 250 square feet and the Pre-Filter is integrated. However, consumers will still need to change the PECO filter every six months. The Air Mini is 12” x 8.26” and weighs a mere 7.3 pounds.
The Molekule Air Mini costs $399.
The Molekule Air Mini+ is remarkably similar to its predecessor (the Air Mini) but includes features such as a particulate matter sensor, particle level indicator, and auto-protect. The filtering system is also the same as the Air Mini. Additionally is the same size and weight as the Mini.
Consumers can expect to pay $499 for the Air Mini+.
All products work with iOS and Android apps, have three-speed settings, two sound levels, and have a 2-year limited warranty. Plus, all products come with a 6-month filter.
If necessary, Molekule offers financing through partner company Affirm. Affirm makes it possible for customers to pay for their air purifier over 6,12, or 18 months.
Affirm’s rates are between 0–30% APR. Customers may be required to make a down payment. Subject to eligibility check and approval. Payment options depend on your purchase amount. The estimated payment amount excludes taxes and shipping fees. Actual terms may vary. Affirm loans are made by Cross River Bank, Member FDIC.
Molekule’s proprietary technology, Photo Electrochemical Oxidation (PECO), works at the molecular level to destroy pollutants. Molekule’s products are unlike other air purifiers that simply collect pollutants and allow them to multiply and be released back into the air.
Molekule’s air purifiers destroy a wide range of pollutants, including the following:
Molekule wants its customers to be happy with their air purifiers. So the company allows customers to try out the products for 30 days. If they’re not satisfied with it, they can return it for a refund (shipping included).
Molekule offers a discount to service members and veterans. For more information, Molekule recommends that customers reach out to the Customer Advocacy Team.
Unfortunately, Molekule is one of the more expensive places to buy an air purifier. The Molekule Air costs $799. On top of that, you’ll need to replace the Pre-Filter ($60) every three months and the PECO filter ($80) every six months. The Air Mini and Air Mini+ will need to have the PECO filter replaced every six months. So if you purchase multiple units for different rooms, it could quickly become costly.
And while there is a two-year warranty, you may have to pay for replacement parts once that ends. The replacement parts cost anywhere from $10 to $20.
Overall, Molekule is a trustworthy company that makes sleek and modern products that aim to improve our quality of life. The company’s mission is simple: Destroy indoor air pollution for everyone, anywhere. The air purifiers are designed to eliminate a variety of pollutants that are often found in our homes without interrupting our daily lives.
Molekule is one of the more expensive options in the industry, but the company does offer a few discounts here and there, and there is even a referral program. If paying $1,000 or more upfront isn’t possible (or probable), you can finance your purchase through Affirm and make it, so you have smaller, more affordable monthly payments.
