While Register.com touts "Award Winning Customer Service," many of their customers have been turned off from frequent and unfruitful conversations concerning issues with their web and email hosting. The response time from their technical support team is unusually long. Online chat for current and potential customers is not available on their website. Customers' only way to reach Register.com is over the phone, which many will find inconvenient.
There are excessive complaints regarding their email hosting service. Many customers complain about the system going down unexpectedly and staying down for days at a time for reasons unknown. We also find it strange that Register.com guarantees 99.99 percent uptime, but does not back up that guarantee with a refund or credit to customers. We would like to see Register.com backup their guarantee with some form of compensation for the customers.

Register.com only offers shared web hosting, which greatly limits their customers. We would like to see Register.com extend their services to include dedicated, cloud, managed, and VPS web hosting options. This provides more options and customization for customers who would benefit more from plans that included these hosting options.

As long as their site is low maintenance and the site owner is confident they won't need a lot of tech support. For businesses that need hosting for a robust site and email hosting, Register.com may not be the best option. It's probably worth it to pay more with another hosting company than deal with frustrations from email hosting issues and their support team.
