Founded by Octave Klaba in 1999, OVH is a privately owned web hosting service company headquartered in Roubaix, France that specializes in dedicated servers, VPS, cloud, mutual hosting, and domain names.
OVH serves over 1.4 million customers and operates 28 data centers around the world. It has an uptime of 99.98 percent, 61 plans for customization, and unlimited bandwidth. The company has been the largest European cloud hosting provider since 2011.
With a VPS cloud hosting account, Windows or Plesk licenses are included, allowing you to use Windows on your server and host up to ten sites free. Security services include a 24-hour backup and snapshots along with data monitoring and reports. Some other perks are included below:
Along with a wide variety of hosting options, the company gives you pretty extensive choices when it comes to subscriptions and payment. It doesn’t bind you to a year-long contract unless you want to commit to that time frame. Otherwise, you can choose between one-week, one-month, three-month, and six-month payment options.
OVH understands that customers will continue working long-term with whoever gives them the best service. It is confident enough with its product that it doesn't need its customers to sign away their business.
Though not crucial to the services it provides, we appreciate the energy-saving cooling procedures implemented by OVH in its data centers, using mostly water cooling rather than air conditioning.
OVH doesn't offer any free trials or money-back guarantees like most companies in the industry. However, this absence is somewhat alleviated by OVH's flexible subscription options.
OVH offers several web hosting options, however they could offer more. We would like to see OVH extend their services to include shared and managed web hosting options. This provides more options and customization for customers who would benefit more from plans that included shared and managed hosting options.
