eHost offers competitive pricing and several features which make them a logical choice for novice webmasters as well as those with more experience in the field. They offer shared web hosting with unmetered storage and bandwidth. They also offer a generous 45 day money-back guarantee, which is uncommon in the industry. eHost is one of over 80 companies owned by the Endurance International Group, Inc.

Top Ranked Companies

The Good

  • Affordable pricing
  • Great features
  • Customer service options

Affordable Pricing

eHost offers a generous pricing term for their new customers, with a 50 percent discount for up to a three year term. In order to take advantage of this offer, users must pay for their entire term upfront. eHost pays for the registration and renewals of one domain for as long as the customer remains a subscriber to the company and their account is in good standing.

Great Features

eHost easily integrates with WordPress as a content management system (CMS) and customers are able to quickly install the CMS with a few clicks. eHost offers unlimited space, traffic, and bandwidth for their customers. For those who are more inexperienced, the company offers SiteBuilder, which is a drag-and-drop website building tool.

Customer Service

eHost also offers great customer service options including phone, email, live chat, and an extensive knowledge base. This knowledge base can be used by customers to find answers to common questions they may have. We like that eHost offers all of these great customer service options, as many companies in the industry do not. It provides their customers with convenience and an overall more positive experience.

The Bad

  • Owned by EIG
  • Domain transfer fee
  • Shared web hosting only

Owned by Endurance International Group, Inc.

As mentioned above, eHost is owned by the Endurance International Group, Inc. The company grows by purchasing smaller companies and putting them into their brand, often referring customers to another of their brands. eHost offers their customers unlimited storage and bandwidth, which sets them apart from their sister companies. As a general rule, there are issues with the Endurance International Group's transparency which ends up appearing with their brands. eHost is fairly transparent, more so than many of the Endurance International Group's other brands which the Review Team has encountered and reviewed.

Transfer Fee

One policy which is published on the company's pages is their fee for transferring a domain which was included in the free domain for life. If users transfer one of these domains to another company, they are required to pay eHost a $15 fee for the transfer. Ironically, with the large market share of web hosting companies which are owned by the Endurance Group International, when customers change web hosting companies, there is a very high chance that the customer is purchasing web hosting from another of the Endurance International Group's brands.

Shared Web Hosting Only

eHost only offers shared web hosting, which greatly limits their customers. We would like to see eHost extend their services to include cloud, managed, dedicated, and VPS web hosting options. This provides more options and customization for customers who would benefit more from plans that included these hosting options. eHost also only offers three plans to choose from, which does not allow for much scalability for their customers.

The Bottom Line

eHost, while being owned by The Endurance International Group, does not have many of the problems which other companies have had after becoming subsidiaries. Most notably, is that the company has quality customer service which is readily available. We like that they offer unlimited storage and bandwidth as well. However, their services are limited with only shared web hosting and only one plan to choose. We would recommend potential customers to research eHost thoroughly before making a choice.

The company is so disorganized I am still receiving emails asking me to add services 3 months after having to dispute the charges in order to cancel the service. *Customer service is based outside USA and agents proved difficult to understand due to limited proficiency speaking and understanding English. *No supervisors exist. The agent you get on the phone is expected to solve every problem. *Billing department does not take calls. The CSR sends request for them to contact you that are either never really submitted or never responded to internally. *It took a total of 4 hours of hold time find out why my site wasnt live. hung up on twice and provided 3 different reasons by all three agents I asked. None of them proved to be correct *No final review of charges appear when buying services on website. Putting an item in your cart will finalize the transaction and you will be charged. This happened when i was considering buying more domains and wanted a total. It just charged my card without authorization., *Cancelling proved impossible bc billing doesnt respond and CSR cant cancel accounts. Many people just give up and use this service im sure. On the up side, it is cheap.
