Swanson has top notch vitamins at an affordable cost. While you still spend the money to get the good ones, it's nice to have a fast way to get the vitamins I run short of.
Been a customer for decades but recently all my orders have arrived with ‘best by’ review dates that were only a month or two away. In other words OLD STOCK that should hav been discarded, not sold to customers! I have since started purchasing my vitamins & supplements elsewhere.
EDIT: They sent me a replacement Bought a four month supply of a vitamin, third bottle’s contents were covered in a brown powder. Turns out the container was cracked and the contents are covered in tiny shards of glass. Being that I bought four months worth and I didn’t open the bottles until needed all customer service told me was it’s past the 30 day refund period, and that I should just throw away the damaged item....
Ive ordered for at least 10 yrs and not one problem. I think one time they sent incorrect garlic and let me keep and shipped correct one. Always knowledgable courteous staff. swanson products are fine, but their website routinely cheats customers who order on it. Yesterday Aug 25 I clicked on an email from Swanson offering 25% off all products with the Swanson brand. I ordered 5 items and each time it showed me the price after 25% off. When finished I confirmed my credit card and address and clicked to place the order. I receipt appeared showing higher prices than I had been quoted for each item. I called Swanson the next day and was told that I had requested the 15% off price and received that. At no time did I say I wanted 15% off since the price that day was 25% off. The website does the conversion for you when you place the order, raising the price on each item. I have had this happen several times and each time have been told that I had bought on a 15% promotion. This may be just incompetent web development, but it has happened over many months, and it is clear Swanson has no interest in fixing it. Why should they? They make more money and most customers don't notice they have been overcharged.

We have used Swanson for over 25 years. Long ago I actually used several of their brand products. Many years later I saw testing on most all supplements and vitamins from a few different legitimate research labs and found Swanson at or near the rock bottom. Talk about money down the drain, and how about the false sense of getting the quality products? Then you had to sweat shipping cost and wait to order large amounts so it became challenging . But the shipping was pretty fast, the CS pretty doggone good and ordering other reliable brands made it all work out. Oh, and they had a ONE YEAR SATISFACTION GUARANTEE. Guarantee is now 30 days!!!!! Idiotic. You cannot even try the products within this time normally. And the shipping? Forget about it. You spend over $50 its free and also takes weeks and weeks to get to CA. Its a hook to get you to pay more. So, ultimately their products are junk, place and service has gone to spit, guarantee is garbage, a ton of fake sales and customer service is atrocious. You automatically get shipped to the Philippines or use the VIP line and still its crap. Spending hundreds of dollars monthly for all this? Try other places and you may be surprised. Maybe not for much longer since big boys are buying them up.
Do yourself a big favor and spend your money elsewhere. My last order went to the wrong address in another state and it was like pulling teeth to even get a customer service response (problem is still not fully resolved). There are numerous better online retailers that will not only ship your order in an expedient manner, but they will also make every attempt to TIMELY correct an error in order to satisfy and keep the customer! I'm male 81 years old. Been using your products for well over 10 years and have never been dissatified. Service, shipping and quality are always above average. I believe the company is extremely trustworthy. I never write product reviews. But today an email asked for a review of several CBD items recently purchased. I did write a review of CBD because it has been it of great benefit to me. Received an email that my review did meet the standard of your staff. I was ticked off and wrote a stinging reply. Your staff published my response. It had spelling and grammar error.
TOTAL JOKE!!, spent 5 days and as many phone calls to place order during last BIG sale. No answer on phone orders after hours on hold!! Now, after the BIG sale they are MAGICALLY ANSWERING THE PHONES AGAIN. This is truly a giant bait and switch,with some lame clown responding to my last review in which they informed they were training new operators. A far better approach would be to ADMIT you did not anticipate huge response to the BIG SALE, AND ARE TAKING CORRECTIVE MEASURES TO DO BETTER. Unfortunately their customer service also needs help.
Their capsules smell like it has been gassed like produce at the grocery store. They don't work like other name brand supplements. They send you twice a day harrassing frequent emails. If you go to decrease the frequency of the emails. The choice to completely stop the emails... States a nasty "I don't want any specials, I am going to pay full price". I am blackballing the company as one I no longer do any business with. I haven't been buying in a long time as they don't have but 1 supplement that works and I only need it once a year. I have ordered about 45 items regularly from Swanson Health Products which I actually try to take daily with a protein drink. I have been a steady and pleased customer for 15 years if not more. Always had courteous customer service and nice chats with real live North Dakota people, offers of free shipping for orders over $50 dollars, fast shipping, well described catalog and online items. Aside from a couple products that have been affected by availability or popularity, pricing has remained reasonably consistent. No hesitation in giving them 5 stars in every category.
I have ordered from Swanson for years. Now all of a sudden customer service is answered by people who sound like they are from India and cannot spell or understand how many numbers are in your zip code. Then they tell yu the price is already marked down and refuse to give the 30% off. Today they tried to tell me they already gave me the 20% off. I was on hold for 1 hour and 15 minutes before they even picked up the phone call. Terrible customer service!
Pricing is inconsistent and a fraud. Customer service on the chat service was very quirt and rude, not helpful at all. Shipping is sometimes slow and sometimes really slow. Buy elsewhere. If you really need Swanson brand, buy them from Amazon Prime.

Call center must be in India. Their promotions are not available for everything on the website so I had to call in. Took 30 minutes to even get ahold of anyone. Guy could not for the life of him speak well enough to take my order. I think I repeated myself at least ten times. Got no confirmation number, no estimated date, nothing. Seems kinda fishy. So hopefully I’ll actually get vitamins and not scammed.
I ordered 40,000 volts electrolytes and paid 9.99 extra for the expedited shipping. It didn't arrive for several days later because they didn't initially ship it out for a few days. It arrived with the box wet and dripping, so i had to refuse the package. I notified swanson and asked that another package be expedited. They got back with me 3 days later that they would expedite the package and sorry for the issue. I look at tracking and it won't arrive for another week. What a disappointment! I needed the product. I won't be using this company again!
I too would give zero stars if I could. I ordered 40 of a particular product. I buy in bulk so it makes the most of the shipping fee. However, only 7 were delivered. When chatting with them they told me that 7 was my country's customs policy and it was clearly stated on the website. So they expect you to wade through pages of small text to read up on the customs procedure. I live in Canada and have ordered tons of stuff that has had to clear customs and it has NEVER been an issue. Surely it would make more sense to have a limit flash up before you check out or to send the customer an e-mail to see if they would like to proceed with just 7? They take no responsibility for not making this clear. They claim their service is great, but it the worst I have ever experienced in a very long time.

I bought vitamins from this company 3 years ago and they came almost overnight. I was so happy with my service. Recently I decided to stock up and bought 150.00 of products. DON'T EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS SITE. Their customer service is in Asia or somewhere the hassle that i had micromanaging this order was not worth it. I cancelled it after they took so long to send it that the authorized funds went back into my bank account. They lied and said they were sorry and then left my order sit. We got tired of the dissapointment. They say a lot of good things and at one time were a great company. I suggest they bring their customer care back to the USA along with their level of affectiveness in order to protect their 70 year reputation. Right now my opinion is "not worth my time to order".
I have no idea where all the negativity is coming from. They have thousands of customers and somehow the worst percent show up? I have been with Swanson for 25 years. That you would rate CVS over them is a joke. Swanson's combination of quality and price is unsurpassed. I find their customer service reps courteous, I was gifted a bottle of Adrenal when I complained, I have never had a problem with return or dissatisfaction. Their product specialists are invaluable. No one, no one beats their value. The one thing is going to Fed EX seems to have slowed shipping. I always wait until I get a $50 order. In emergency I buy on Ebay.. Almost all companies offer free shipping with a minimum, (Vitamin Shoppe, Puritan's Pride, I herb, you name it.) Piping Rock will not offer any discount. It's a bogus complaint. If you want the new 10%, just call them., My God. Is two minutes a problem? Certain big retail chains, (CVS, Walmart, Vitamin Shoppe) offer site to store or some variation because they have retail outlets which Swanson does not have. Their products have literally saved my life and their prices are WAAAAY below anyone else, especially their sales. What galaxy are you in that you think CVS's vitamins are a better value than Swanson or have as much in their catalog? I can get national brands through Swanson at prices no one else could match. This site here is nonsense.

Deceptive company. Rude and not helpful. False advertisement. Ad stated “pack of 5” toothpastes. Only one received. When I contacted them about the missing items-they stated that it was not their fault (although only they submit their listings) and they would not be sending them.
The reason I gave a 1 star rating is because I saw an item on their website I wanted to purchase for $6.45. A window popped up asking me to s ign up for their emails and in return I would get a 15% off coupon and free shipping. So I signed up and received my coupon. As soon as I went back to the website by clicking the link in the email, the item was now $8.07. So they raised the prince went you went into their website through the link you were forced to click on to recieve the 15% discount. PLUS, when you take 15% off $8.07 it comes to $6.83 and the price on the website said $6.45! So they scam you into giving them your email hoping you are too stupid to figure out what they are doing. To make matters worse, they dont give free shipping like they told me. When you go into the website through the link you are told you get free shipping on orders $50 and over. I don't like compainies like this that play games and try to screw you.
I ordered vitamins and soap for the first time in a long time so I had to update my address. I did so when I finalized the order. I received a notice a week later telling me that the order was delivered. It turns out it was delivered to my old address. I contacted an agent via chat and explained the situation. The person took down my new address and assured me that it would be re-sent the next business day. I received a message a week later telling me that my package was delivered. I checked and discovered that it had - once again - been delivered to the same old address. I chatted with an agent again and was told that I have to change my address in their system (as if I had not done so - twice). I was so mad that I cancelled the order. I only hope that they actually refund my money.
Very disappointed with swansonvitamins. After receiving plenty of e-mail, I decided to place an order. Then, swansonvitamins do not send the order arguing something wrong about the address and the credit card. There is nothing wrong neither with the credit card, nor the shipping address. I placed orders at iherb, betterlife, lukcyvitaming, amazon, ebay, fastech… with no problems. They make me waste my time. I cancelled the order.
Now I remember why I order from VitaCost instead of Swanson's. Tonight their website would not let me put some of my checkout information in. Of course there is no phone number and the chat didn't work. What a shame this company is now such a dud.
They had my order on hold because they claim the shipping and the billing address does not match. But they are the same. They did not contact me either. I have to call after three days when I checked on line and order still was not processed. They then said they will prioritize it. And there was a coupon that was not applied when they finally processed the order. I have to call to have them manually refund me the coupon amount. When I see the email that is was send via Fedex Smart post I called to complain again because that is not prioritize shipping. They then sent a reshipment overnight so it will arrive sooner, minus one item due to not able to be sent it overnight. After a week, I call to check for the tracking. Guess what they did not sent the reshipment of the last item. It was ridiculous. Swanson tried to rectify their wrong but they kept doing wrong. Expedited the shimpent in a slow shipping method. Holding off one item in the reshipment. What kind of customer service is this? I have to call like 5 times.

Although I like their products, thus purchasing them, their delivery time is horrible. I used to get free shipping and have my order within five days. Looks like my most recent order will be about 11 days. With all the competition out there, you'd think they'd want to rethink this very poor aspect of their company. I can get some of their products on Amazon, but the ship time is still slow. They are a bit more expensive through Amazon, but the arrival time is half of what it is from the company. I have purchased from one of their competitors and the products have arrived in two days with free shipping. I think they need to step up their game considerably, or just not offer free shipping at all.
I am on order number 2 from Swanson. I live in Hswaii and shipping time on both orders was ok. On the second order I received a product, flax seed oil capsules, that I don’t recall ordering. Upon opening the capsules were all coagulated at the top of the container and could not be separated. I called customer service and got someone in the Phillipines who spoke very good English. He apologized for the problem and said they would reship at no charge. Today, I opened my new bottle of COQ10 200 mg and the capsules were only half full or less. I called CS got some nice lady and said they would reship at no charge. She made an interesting comment , you are the second person that I have talked to in the last week that had received a product only half full. Sorry but I am looking for a new source
Unreliable and rude customer appreciation with shipping being free depending on their own feelings and prices on their website differs from the ones they give you over the telephone. For repeated orders, the customer service is strict in demanding that you spell out your name as well as address, alphabet by alphabet to him or her despite having the information already keyed into the system. Despite being a paying customer for years, they carry on as if each order is a new order and do not bother in extending any customer courtesy for bulk items ordered to which did not turn out well. If you were to request for a refund after the 30 day money back guarantee, they do not want to give out an actual physical address leaving you to use the return label enclosed with the order. However, they go beyond rudeness by challenging you to mail the items back to them at your own expense. As if you could?
Got sucked into free shipping with $50 purchase. Time from order to delivery- 11 days. What year is it? Nobody else takes this long in the 21st century. Simple parcel post would be faster.
They cancelled my first order because my billing address did not match my shipping address, and claim they sent me an email informing me, but I received nothing. They cancelled the second order a week later, also without informing me. The chat service (LiveHelpNow) says "the order was flagged for suspected fraud and cancelled." I have had problems with this company in the past, too. Their online interface is simply too dinosaur-era to trust. Do not do business with them. If you MUST do business with them (they DO have good prices and selection), CALL them, do NOT order online.
AVOID THIS COMPANY. Swanson sold out to a leveraged buyout group about two years ago. Since then, customer service has become non-existent (rude, nasty), cheap fillers, cheap slow shipping, expired products shipped, sleazy promos included with shipments ++. I am a former customer of 35 years. Placed an order to be sent to my home. My billing address is a PO Box. Packages had been sent to my home for DECADES. The Swanson website defaulted shipping to the PO Box - which I go to once a month (if that). I called Swanson and asked them to right this error. SWANSON ERROR. They refused. I told them that Fedex notified me of a 'shipment exception' because package was going to PO Box. SWANSON ERROR. Swanson attitude: Tough - deal with it. That package was going to sit there for a month! Absolutely appalling and obnoxious. I told them I would not spend another nickel with Swanson. I called my post office and told them to refuse the package. The package was sent back. Swanson can shove it. I love the Vitacost and iHerb websites - go there. Both have awesome product selection, prices and CUSTOMER SERVICE.
THIS COMPANY IS TOTAL RIPPED OFF. THEY CHANGE YOUR PRICE WHEN YOU BUY AND THE PRICE THEY CHARGE IN YOUR CARD. NEVER WILL I BUY ON THIS WEBSITE AGAIN.
Great vitamins, horrible shipping. Their shipping is expensive and it takes WAY to long. You can pay more than the cost of the vitamins you ordered to get them faster. I hate over paying for shipping the vitamins I order but it is the only place to get them at this time. When I find a comparable item from another company I will switch in a heart beat, Swansons shipping is that bad!!

Putting things in perspective to give honest assessment: (1) The link below says, estimated delivery in 3-10 business days (Landmark Global Canadian delivery option) . The company does not start counting these days until order has left their warehouse Catch here is: Found them taking 2-5 days for shipments after the date of orders. So goods arrive past this period. For my recent order (Placed on February 16th, 2015), I am still waiting for the delivery. (4) Now, if ordered, and there is delay in shipment after ordering. The company policy is: Order can not be cancelled if the order processing has started So you get stuck! Solution: Call up their CSR, who if kind enough can take you out of this mess and might cancel the order. If it does not work, dispute the payment with credit card company and cancel the payment. (5) If order has passed 3-10 business days limit, then as per the policy of the company, the customer must wait 15 business days to receive refunds/replace the package by sending another parcel. So in such cases, after adding there is further time-lag to receive the shipment. So minimum 20 business days (or maybe over 26 calender days if count 2 days of weekends). And remember that this is from the day of shipmen. So hopefully in a month such orders might be received! (6) So what should a customer do if such goods are not received on time and have passed 3-10 business days from the date of shipment. The solution I found, dispute the payment and cancel the payment from your credit card company; instead of dealing with their hopeless customer service. (7) Now, god forbid if you have to deal with their CSR. If calling them, there is no record of that conversation. If chatting, (based on personal experience), if there is serious complaint and try to resolve that matter, less probability to receive the copy of that chat by email (their default option is to send the transcript of the chat by email), maybe the CSR does some magic! (8) If email them, then absolute useless responses: From my recent interaction: My email (Dated March 3, 2015 EST): "I have checked in your online tracking system of both service providers (which are Landmark and Canada Post), then called up Canada Post, the order status has not been updated for the last many days. Could you please investigate so I receive my order as it it urgent. CSR response (responded on March 4, 2015 by Courtney B., Email Specialist): We are sorry. You could check the tracking status at Canadapost.ca. We advise you to have patience. Guys: Did you read the email? How the hell patience would solve the health problem? Perhaps you should also go through the same problem to have the right experience. (9) Follow up email: My email (March 6, 2015): the order status has not been updated. These products are urgent due to my health issue, could you please investigate or reship the goods; CSR response (March 7, 2015 by Kellie B., Email Specialist): We are sorry. If you do not receive your goods by March 12, 2015, then contact us for further assistance. Also, can you verify your address with us?
