Designed to benefit frequent travelers and businesses, TripIt allows users to keep all of their accommodations in one organized platform that has a number of features which make it easy to alter or cancel reservations and receive refunds where eligible. There are different service levels provided by TripIt: a free device, a pro app, and a plan for businesses. This gives travelers the ability to find a plan that works for best for them and their needs.
Basic features found in both the TripIt and TripIt Pro plans include the ability to:
TripIt provides a sample travel itinerary that shows confirmation codes so users can easily check-in to their flight by accessing the airline's website in their internet browser. Whether a traveler is on the go or managing from the office, they can quickly keep track of all travel accommodations and flight details.
TripIt for Teams is a great tool for teams that need to coordinate their business travel. Users can try this service for free for 30 days, after which it costs $49 per year and makes it easy for companies to stay organized and keep employees informed about travel plans.
Unfortunately, TripIt does not allow travelers to quickly input desired travel plans and view results in a matter of moments. In fact, consumers are required to have a TripIt account in order to gain access to even the basic app features.
Consumers who are interested in the TripIt Pro app can try it out for free for 30 days, but after that, they will be required to pay a monthly or annual fee in order to take advantage of the following features:

Adding trips is extremely easy when it comes to using the TripIt application. Very easy to navigate the Add a Trip drop down by adding any flights, hotel stays or any other activities that I have planned. I like the countdown feature to see where I'm currently stay, where I plan to stay next and where I already stayed. Just a fun way to see how your trip is progressing. The automatic forwarding of confirmation emails from my email inbox makes it very convenient as well when adding trips/plans to my itinerary.
I have to give TripIt a thumbs down. The main reason I want an app like this is to send copies of my itinerary to my wife when I travel for business or family/friends when I go see them. UNFORTUNATELY in order to receive these notifications, a person has to be in my 'Inner Circle' and the only way that happens is if they are a TripIt member. What a underhanded way to artificially increase their user base... and of course Marketing will use this to state how they grow XX% each year and have XXX thousands of users. SO every time I want to travel to go see a friend or family member and I want to send them a copy of my itinerary, I have to get them to sign up on TripIt... NOT! I got TripIt Pro for free since my company uses Concur for handling expenses. Needless to say I won't be using it and I'll be uninstalling it from my phone.
