The Good

  • Federal Aid and Work Study
  • Graduation and Job Placement
  • Program Variety
  • Straightforward Enrollment

Federal Aid and Work Study

There are some trade schools where their students do not qualify for federal assistance due to the nature of their programs and educational opportunities. However, with American Career College, students who are eligible will be able to apply for federal financial aid or federal work study programs. This means that students may be able to off-set the costs of their education by obtaining federal grants or loans. Additionally, students can take advantage of federal work study programs where students work to pay off what is owed on their education.

Graduation and Job Placement

One key piece of information prospective students typically like to know before enrolling in a program include the how likely they are to graduate and subsequently how likely they are to get a job in their desired career path. It has been reported that seventy-seven percent of students that start an American Career College program will graduate with either their necessary certification or degree. On top of that, their career services also help these students to land employment upon graduation. About seventy percent of graduates find gainful employment before or shortly after graduation.

Program Variety

American Career College offers two types of programs. These programs can be broken down into diploma programs and associate programs. Diploma programs feature the following: medical assistant, dental assisting, massage therapy, medical billing and coding, pharmacy technician, optical technician, and vocational nursing. The available associate programs include surgical technology, respiratory therapy, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapy assistant, radiography, nursing, and health information technology.

Straightforward Enrollment

Interested students will find that getting started in one of the American Career College programs to be simple and straightforward. There is some required paperwork that will need to be submitted as well as diploma requirements for various programs. Upon completion, American Career College will work with the student to get them enrolled.

The Bad

  • Program Costs
  • Location Availability

Program Costs

There are a number of factors that go into how much a program will cost an individual upon completion. First, the actual cost for each program varies. This is because each program requires different time commitments and credit requirements. Second, the degree type a student plans on earning will also play a factor into how much a program costs. Tuition fees upon program completion can range anywhere from $17,975 - $71,875. Prospective students, once they decide which program to go into, will be able to find out specifics regarding how much their schooling will end up costing.

Location Availability

As of right now, American Career College campuses are only found in California. More specifically, all five locations are centered around the greater Los Angeles area. American Career College locations include: Orange County, Ontario, Lynwood, Los Angeles, and Long Beach. Due to the nature of the medical profession and training required to earn these certifications, no online options are available. That means that unless a student lives close to one of these campus locations, American Career College is most likely not an option for higher education training.

The Bottom Line

American Career College offers a number of medical-focused programs to students interested in getting into various professions within the medical field. Varying levels of degrees are attainable, but that will depend on the area of study declared. Many of the students who start a program at American Career College will complete it and be able to find gainful employment. For students interested in working within the medical field as a technician or in another capacity may find value in what American Career College has to offer. However, if a student does not live close to one of their five Los Angeles campuses, it will not be possible to complete the program requirements and graduate.
