There are several streaming services competing for subscribers worldwide. There are some who will subscribe to multiple services for various reasons, and then there are those who are satisfied with just one subscription.
Each service provides something unique to their customer-base. These features have set apart some services and created discrepancies within the industry. In an effort to find out which service features are most important to consumers, BestCompany.com experts conducted a survey to find out what subscribers actually care about.
Over 1,000 subscribers were asked what aspect of service they believed was the most important when determining which streaming product to sign up for. The results showed that the monthly price is the most important for consumers (39.5%), closely followed by original series options.
Streaming television services traditionally included movie and TV show libraries that subscribers could watch for a monthly price. However, streaming services have started to create and produce their own shows, movies, and documentaries that are exclusively available to their subscribers.
Some of these original series have gone on to win entertainment and performance awards. Roughly 37.3% of subscribers believe that these original programs play a huge role in which subscription they choose to purchase.
Following original programming, library selection (32.0%), an ad-free experience (24.4%), and parental controls (9.2%) also played a role in consumers' decisions.
