The Good

  • Great security
  • Unit amenities
  • Website

Great Security

Much like the name implies, Security Self-Storage provides great security for their storage units. Video surveillance is used throughout the storage unit to protect customers units and their contents. A manager also lives onsite at every storage unit facility. This provides added security, as does the computerized entry system. Security is a major concern for many customers, as some items that are placed into storage are irreplaceable. Customers should feel secure when they choose to store their items with Security Self-Storage.

Unit Amenities

Security Self-Storage provides great amenities for their units. Each unit is climate controlled and accessible 24/7. There are thirteen sizes of units available, which gives customers a lot of choices. Security Self-Storage also provides locks and moving supplies for purchase. Some of these packing supplies include boxes, bubble wrap, packing tape, shrink wrap, utility knives, and more. This is a great added convenience for customers. Customers who need to have access to their belongings 24/7 and require climate control to protect their items should consider Security Self-Storage.

Another great convenience is that customers can pay their storage bill online. This saves time and energy. Other information regarding sizes and prices of units are easily found on their website. Features for each facility are also listed as well as their location and security measures. Weekly specials are available to help new customers save.

The Bad

  • Six-state availability
  • Lack of information
  • High price

Six-State Availability

Currently, Security Self-Storage is only available in six states. These six states include, Colorado, Kansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, and Texas. While they have expanded since their beginning 40 years ago in Kansas, they still offer a very limited area of coverage. Some storage unit companies in the industry are available nationwide. With how old this company is, we would expect that they would have expanded more in this amount of time. This greatly limits the potential customers who could benefit from Security Self-Storage's great services. If you do not live in this limited service area, you will have to find another company to use for your storage needs.

Lack of Information

While the company provides some great benefits to their services, they still leave room for improvement. As mentioned above, they are only available in six states. They also do not disclose whether their units are indoor or outdoor. This could be a deal breaker for some potential customers who prefer one over the other. This information should be provided on their website.

High Price

We also found the average cost to be higher than average in the industry. Customers who are concerned about the price of a storage unit should find a different company to store with. For this high price, you would expect that they would provide a moving truck for their customers, however, they do not. Some companies in the industry offer moving trucks for free (except the price of gas) to their customers. An added benefit such as this may offset the higher price of the units.

The Bottom Line

Security Self-Storage provides great security and amenities for all of their units. We really like the added security of having a manger living on site. We also like that there are thirteen sizes of units to choose from, and that they are all climate controlled. This really allows customers to find the unit that best fits their needs, and feel secure that their items will remain safe. Security Self-Storage also provides locks and packing supplies for purchase which can be a great convenience to customers; however, they are only available in six states, and are a little higher priced than other companies in the industry. With these higher prices, we expect more benefits such as available moving trucks or more security. Overall, we recommend working with Security Self-Storage for your storing needs.
