The Good

  • Loan and Leasing Options
  • Equipment from High Quality Manufacturers
  • NABCEP Certified

Loan and Leasing Options

Financing options should be a serious consideration when choosing a solar company. Some companies only offer loan financing. Windmar Solar offers both loans and leasing options. This gives customers more flexibility and allows them to take advantage of solar regardless of their financial situation. Windmar Solar works with multiple financing companies to make solar purchases possible for its customers.

Equipment from High Quality Manufacturers

Customers should always be aware of where a solar company’s panels come from. Windmar Solar distributes solar equipment from some of the top manufacturers in the solar industry. The Windmar Solar team is Tesla installer certified, and additionally installs panels from Panasonic and LG, among others.

Inverters on Windmar Solar systems are manufactured by SolarEdge or Enphase, which again, are the most popular inverter manufacturers in the solar industry.

NABCEP Certified

Windmar Solar is certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners, which sets it apart from other solar installers. All solar contractors should have electrical contracting licenses. However, the most reputable companies have the added certification from the NABCEP. The NABCEP educates its certified members on the best, most current practices when it comes to solar installation. It helps members stay up to date on industry trends and technological advancements so that they can provide the very best service to customers.

The Bad

  • Low Ratings
  • Lack of Warranty Information

Low Ratings

Windmar Solar has received some negative reviews over the years. In addition, the company is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau. In fact, the BBB has given Windmar Solar a C- rating because of its failure to resolve customer complaints. This is a much lower rating than some of its solar industry competitors.

Lack of Warranty Information

Windmar Solar does not provide any information about warranties on its company website. Product warranties on solar products generally depend on the manufacturer, which might partially explain this. Since Windmar Solar works with multiple manufacturers, the warranties on individual solar systems may vary. However, the best solar companies also have a labor or workmanship warranty to cover all of the work done on the system. Windmar Solar does not disclose any warranties — whether labor or equipment warranties — on its website.

The Bottom Line

With almost 20 years of experience, Windmar Solar could be a great option for customers in the Caribbean. With an NABCEP certification, the company is expected to uphold a certain standard of excellence, which should comfort potential customers. However, due to the company's low ratings, customers should ensure that they are covered by a proper warranty before closing on a deal with Windmar Solar.
