This company is SCAM, stay FAR FAR away from them! Their sales tactics and lies should be classified as predatory. An Attorney General in NM file a lawsuit against this company back in 2018 for the very same practices that happened to me. There's a really good article worth reading, located at kob.com, (search for article #10028, dated 12 March 2018) that outlines exactly how they operate. Needless to say, nothing the salesman said was true. I look forward to Vivint.Solar replying to this review like they have so many others. At least it will be the first time they actually make contact with me rather then their Debt Collection lawyer. Oh wait, you probably thought like any other normal person that a nationwide company couldn't possibly be this shady. Just wait until 18 months goes by, your solar panels still haven't been turned on, and you receive a bill for over $60,000.

This was a confusing experience. My husband and I separated before the panels became active. I had the same phone number for a long time, no calls on it from this company. That was in October 2017. My husband and I went back and forth and w the company and after sending in one transfer agreement by mail and two by email, finally we got the service transferred into just his name in July. He has been using the panels and paying his bill. They send me a $34k bill. In our divorce papers I was ordered only to pay $800 since I was moved out before the panels were active. They were made aware of this and sent the court papers. After this is when I was sent this enormous bill. As a consumer it’s a sign to me that a business is not doing well if they start to try to extort money from their previous customers. I’ve contacted the BBB about the matter and am still waiting to hear back. This bill scares me very much. I’ve never seen a bill that high in my life. For anything!

If i could rate this company with a "Zero" I would so ignore the "1 star ranking". This by far the worst customer service care I have ever experienced in my life with any company. THE WORST!!!! Do not sign up a contract with this company. I have had them for five years and they have my hands tied due to the fact that I signed a 20 year contract and they know it. I had issues in the past where the system was not working and it took way too long to fix. I will say they did reimburse me for it not working for those six months but then again they should right? I am paying more money to my local utility than other people in my area who have solar also. I have brought this to their attention now on four occasions over the past four months. If there was a way to remove the system, terminate the contract, and allow me to have another company's business I would do it even if it cost me more money to start over due to their poor service.

I have been put off TWICE by poor customer service. I was told TWICE I would have a technician come visit my home for vivant solar panel check-TWICE he NEVER came. I have complained and gotten no where. Customer care specialist Nemiha S has not replied to my inquiries-promised to send info at the end of the weekend. NEVER has replied to my follow up inquiries. Elizabeth M, solar performance specialist, NEVER replied to my complains and failed appointment set for a technician to visit the solar panels. I have sent multiple inquires and have not heard from management, nor from the original sales man, David Y. Have you folks folded as a company? I pay my bills on time and get no replies to inquiries or to service followups. This is the THIRD service evaluation that I complained and never got a follow-up. But, your customer service people also need re-training-one idiot did not listen to my inquiries and when I asked for his manager-he just dumped my in the queue again. Poor service, poor customer service, and poor responses to customer complains-all the elements of a YOU TUBE VIDEO AND BAD PUBLICITY. Are your folks listening?

About two years ago snow and ice slide off the panels, which damaged leaf guard/roof gutter. I called over one year ago for help to have ice breakers installed to avoid the roof gutter getting damaged again. I got not response, until recently I saw a meter reader on my street in Denville, NJ. I expressed to him my dissatisfaction, and he said a lot of people are complaining about the customer service. Someone called two days ago to help me, but I could not talk at the time. I was on the phone with the mediocre customer service that bounced me from one rep. to another for over one hour, until I got cut off. Someone called after the cut off, and said it was the computer dropped the call. I then heard silence, so nothing happened. I am very sorry I sign up for this service, and I would discourage anyone from signing up with Vivint Solar. This company is not interested in customer service! I am a very disappointed customer, and should really file a complaint with better business bureau. This company deserve less than a one star!!!

Company rep came to my door today to solicit the product of this company. I was attentive up until I asked that he come back to do the 10 minute assessment to qualify us and his response was to show me the screen on his tablet which had my personal demographic and credit rating. To my reaction, he turned the screen and proceeded to inform me that my credit was not going to approve the application for solar panels but it would for (the name of my son). When he ever turned the screen to show me my son's info, I became visibly upset and asked how did they acquire our personal information to that he refused to answer me. By the way, my son is a minor. The only reason I rated this complaint one star is because the rep did pull out the company brochure and provide me with his and the company: Vivint Solar corporate contact information to address my question. I was dialing the corporate phone number as I was closing my front door. The customer service rep who answered my call went mute when I stated the reason for my call. She then asked if it were ok to place me on a 5-6 minute hold while she located a manager to take my call.....Nonetheless, I will be contacting the proper contacts both political and legal to handle this matter.

(09/26/19) I have had Vivint Solar up and running now for 1yr or 12 billing cycles with APS and the numbers on my spreadsheet are as real as they get. I am awaiting a response from customer service as to why going solar has cost me $547 more than the previous year w/o solar panels on my roof. Just thought people out there should know this is reality and it could happen to you. If you appreciate this information, "like" is is the same as a Thank You. Update 10/23/19: at first they were eager to resolve this issue & after going through 3 years of APS bills Benjamin W. determined I should have more panels. Apparently there is a minimal requirement of 8 panels to do that. Roof space can handle & for some reason they have yet to send me the additional panel program information. Is it because I won't do it over the phone as I want it in writing or is it because it will cost me more & I told him I am not investing more money into Vivint and hope it fixes the problem. I am already out over $500. Last contact was 10/10 and no response to the request of emailing the program details. Go to Google maps and search Vivint in AZ to see a photo of the spreadsheet I used to track cost vs credits.

I have a system that was part of the home I just bought. My last call to Vivint began with my asking "How do I get this crap off my roof?" My last month's electric bill was $1148. When I called they told me I had been misbilled, if I hadn't caught it, they would have just kept my money and charged me again the next month. I spent almost 30 minutes trying to get things resolved, nothing. The only thing they came back with is that I was late on another ~$450 payment. My next call will be today and if I don't get a satisfying resolution, the next call I make goes to my attorney and I'll just pay him instead. I'm unbelievably pissed off about this! Another item that should have tipped me off: their service people show up almost 2 months after I move in to tell me that the system is offline and that the need to have unfettered access to my home network -- Never going to happen. Do people actually fall for that? Stay far away from these folks.

I am paying about $700 electrical bill monthly ever since agreeing for Vivint Solar to put Solar panels on my roof in October 2018. Right when panels where installed, they billed me when they had not even been turned on, and when I called Vivint, they said they were not going to refund my money but simply going to adjust my bill for the subsequent month, and they never did so. My last bills were $689.99 = $253.18 (Vivint Solar) + $436.81 (MBG&E) for Sept-2019, and $740.07 = $298.98 (Vivint Solar) + $441.09 (MBG&E) for Aug-2019. I called MBG&E and they said Solar produced zero energy. I called Vivint Solar, and they said they are not getting signal from my home and so did an estimate. A Vivint technician came last month when I called them that there was signals on they equipment, and put the system on, I am not sure what he did. They again sent a technician yesterday and he came and found out that their equipment had tripped off and was not working as expected. How do I get Vivint to refund my money and charges of bounced checks and inconveniences they have caused my family by withdrawing such huge amounts of money from my account for months? Because they have been so dishonest and not kept to their contract, I will even prefer they take their panels off my roof ASAP.

WE had Vivint install our system in MAy2019. Our house is on a golf course. One panel has damage they are claiming was from a golf ball hit. Vivant want us to pay $995 to replace the panel. They say in their contract they do not cover golf ball damage to their panels. Why would you install a system on a golf course home don't warranty that.?? This panel was damaged before the system was turned over to us us. They said try and go through our home owners policy. We have a 1500 deductible. Vivant said if homeowners would not cover they would work with us. Nothing. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Awful customer service department

Vivint Solar has a poor billing system. I have called numerous times to correct their billing errors. I always get the same answer. They want me to just pay the bill and they will correct the problem in one to two billing cycles. That's a joke. What person pays for services not received. For 45 days we were not receiving production on our panels. We were informed by PSE&G that our bill was $750. I asked if there was in any solar production from our panel being used by PSE&G. The answer was NO. I contacted Vivint Solar and was informed that the panels weren't working. I was informed that because the panels weren't working we received and estimated bill based on how much energy the solar should have produced. I asked the representative about this problem and was told that they had over 5,000 customers and didn't have time to correct problems. I informed her that PSE&G has more than 5,000 customers and that was a stupid excuse. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They are a joke.

Vivint came out and told my mother she would never receive a bill or have rate increases. being elderly she trusted the gentleman and read/understood as much as she could on the contract asking him questions when she didn't. he completely lied to her through all 3 presentations and now that I am helping with her finances I find out that she does receive monthly bills and her energy rate goes up 2.9 percent every year. Again she is elderly and probably should have never even been allowed to sign on her own but read your contracts carefully. I found out she started at 10 cents is now at 12 cents due to the 2.9 percent rate increase per year and by the time her contract ends in 20 years she will be paying over 20 cents per KWH. Even BGE is only charging her 7 cents at the moment so how is she winning. She is now paying 5 cents more to Vivint per KWH then she actually is to BGE. She isn't saving anything and the solar panel company is making a profit off her and now I'm stuck and don't know what to do.

I inherited this lease when I purchased my home this year. This company is honestly the worse utility company I have ever dealt with. After six months of dealing with them I have yet to receive a statement or bill. I am forced to call them to find out how much I owe, basically doing their job for them. Their website tells you that you’ll talk to a human but in reality you won’t, you’ll go thru an automated menu, then you’ll wait in queue and then you might eventually talk to a person. Basically, they are an incompetent company, zero communication skills, and horrible customer service. How hard can it be to provide someone with a statement of how much they owe, every other utility company switched me in a matter of minutes. After six months, a score of phone calls, a plethora of emails, they still haven’t figured out how to bill me. I get snapshots of my usage and past-due account balance notifications via email so I know I’m in their system, however, no statement to date. So I have stopped paying because I don’t know how much I owe and I am now looking into legal actions to break the lease.

A terrible company to do business with. Too many issues of with bad communications to list here. They always respond late or not at all regarding installation, billing, or any service. My panels were installed on my 21 year old roof and they said it was okay. A year later after problems with my roof, I had to pay them for the panels to be removed, in order to replace the roof. Now that I'm trying to refinance my home for other improvements, I find that they have language in the contract to place themselves on my home title. And Vivint won't remove themselves from the title to allow my refinance to go through. This very suspicious considering they don't have my wife's signature on the contract. Don't sign the companies digital contract that the sales person presents, because you won't see the hidden details of the contract.

Same case as ( The below person ) literally stuck with two extra high bills edison and solar panels! And my husband and i are home if anything 4 hrs a day !!!! ——————————————- We purchased a home that had just recently been outfitted with Vivint Solar Panels. During the process of closing on the home loan we were informed (by our realtor) that we would need to have the solar contract reassigned to us. This was literally days before we were to close. The previous owner led us to believe it was just part of the home sale. (Not Vivint's fault) However, we also later learned that Vivint had been notified of the sale of the home by our real estate agent. In the rush to get the loan closed and due to our total lack of knowledge regarding solar systems and the contracts that go with them, we requested the paperwork to complete the process. AT NO TIME did Vivint offer to provide us with a detailed overview and explanation of the contract terms for what I later learned was a "lease" not even a purchase. We blindly and hastily signed the necessary paperwork, something I regret deeply now and in hindsight AFTER finally getting a copy of the formal contract. When I read it I felt like the biggest sucker on the planet. It's a 20 year lease, the payments started at about $120 per month, but they increase every year by 3%. Do the math and see how much my power bill will be in 20 years...when I'm retired and living on a fixed income and the panels are less effective due to age. I take responsibility for not demanding more transparency on Vivint's part but I also feel Vivint had no interest in being proactive in letting me know what I was signing up for during a very hectic and busy time as we were closing on a home loan. In hindsight, I would never have signed those documents and likely not purchased the home. If I was going to get solar panels I would have done a purchase agreement, not a lease. I contacted Vivint after reading the lease agreement. I explained the situation. I acknowledged my fault in signing the agreement but also explaining that I felt I was misinformed and not given the information I needed to be informed until after the fact. The man on the phone was very curt and basically said too bad, but not in those words. I asked if it would be possible to change my contract to a purchase agreement rather than a lease. He put me on hold and when he came back he said I could purchase the agreement for $75,000. At that point I just hung up. My experience with Vivint has been less than satisfactory and my only interactions with personnel were not pleasant. Their lease agreements are not advantageous to the customer. You get none of the tax benefits. You can't participate in any of the government rebate programs and you don't get the benefit of selling your excess power production back to the grid. You're stuck with a payment that gradually increases every year for 20 years. I don't know what happens after that. A new roof I guess. I can not, in good conscience recommend Vivint for solar power. They have been sued by numerous states for deceptive sales practices by their door to door sales people and have settled most of them out of court so as to keep the details out of public view. But if you dig, you can find enough to dissuade you. I had hoped to at least have the opportunity to change my situation, knowing I am stuck in a contract with no recourse unless a class action suit is brought by other customers in the state of Utah. That's likely not going to happen because Vivint is a Utah company and I'm sure has many friends and allies up on the hill at the state capital. All I can do is share my honest frustrations in a review based on my own experience. I wish Vivint was more transparent and actually cared more about the customer. I'm sure they have some happy customers. Had I been treated differently and my situation handled better from the beginning I would be one too. I'll never know. I'm stuck in what appears to be a no-win situation.

The purchase and installation was very smooth. We liked that we paid very little for our monthly power payment. However we found that we need to repair our roof about a month ago. We have call many times to contact Vivint for help with the removal and reinstall. Only once after a very very long hold were we able to speak to someone who informed us of the charge to do this. We paid the fee and were told that we would be contacted for scheduling. No news! Our roofing contractor keeps asking when they can start. ??? If we could just get a hold of Vivint to schedule that would be great. Every time we call we are on hold for 30 + minutes. It would be great if we had tons of time to just wait but we work. So we are just very frustrated. Just answer for phone. For real.

Would give zero stars if I could I am now on hold with vivint with the third person I have been transferred to... its going on 45 minutes now. I took ownership of my home which had solar already installed 5 months now and have had nothing but terrible service, First, I am being billed for a year of the previous owners service which was "offline" ... I filed a dispute right away, but that didn't stop the harassment of calls and emails about "my" delinquent account... I was told if I pay the past amount when my dispute is cleared I will be credited the amount, because I shouldn't be billed for the previous owners time - said the rep from vivint!... So I pay it, My dispute was not found in my favor and now I am on hold because that is ridiculous! I should not have to pay for something that I did not even own at the time!!! Please look elsewhere for your solar needs ... I didn't have a choice, It came with my dream home.

The sales man said we'd save money. I read the paperwork that said we paid only for the amount of electricity we produced. This was great in the winter when I got a partial bill from my electric supplier and a partial bill from Vivint. However, in the summer, my roof produces over twice what we use, but the contract state we pay for the production, not our usage. This production amount is far higher than the "estimated" production we were quoted. That amount was less than we use. The entire process of getting the solar installed and operational took 3 times as long as they said. The system stopped receiving information and we got estimated bills that they said would be fixed and credit given if we over paid. No credit was ever given. We've had them since 2017, a little under 2 years and have had trouble from the beginning. No help ever, and now my electric rate is far lower from the regular supplier than from Vivint! I want the system gone but signed a 20 year contract. I need to figure out how to get out of the contract, NOW.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! They tell you so many lies just to get you to get their solar panels. One of their lies is that you are going to get 10K in tax return so our loan was done 10k less of the total amount. When we went to do our taxes our accountant told us that is a lie, because nobody gets a return, you only get that as a credit if you own the IRS that money. So please make your research, when we didn't pay the loan company the 10k they raised our payment from $180 to $265. Our electricity bill was $200 in average, actually I'm paying an average of $150 for electricity plus $265 fo solar panels. When our system was installed worked good for the first three or four months and then we lost communications and our electric bill went up. It hasn't came down since. We've had the solar panels for about a year a half and back in March our system stopped producing electricity for about 2 a half months. When I realized our system was down I called and it took them three weeks to come and fix it. Meanwhile I was paying up to $400 in electricity and still had to pay for the panels. I've been calling for the last three months trying to get compensated and the last I heard is that because we have a loan the DO NOT guarantee production. This is the only company that can't guarantee the service that you are paying for. They have the worst costumer service, the only people you can talk to are incompetent people that keep saying I can't do anything for you. They can't transfer you to anybody, they are filters to managers and supervisors as all they say is that there is nobody physical there with them and they don't have the authority to help them. They might as well just have answering machines.

We bought our solar in December of 2018. The salesman "Travis H" lied to us, He said that we would get reimbursed on all our PG and E electric bills from date of signing to day of operation (which was approx. five months). When I got ahold of him to let him know we were operational he said he "didn't know it would take so long for our system to be operational and could only honor 2 months of electricity bills from PG and E. I submitted my January and February bills to him for reimbursement and have never heard from him again. Also, we were promised vouchers to go on a cruise. We never got those either and when I inquired about the vouchers we were told that there were no more vouchers and we were just plain out of luck. These two items were offered as incentives to go with Vivint. It was all a big fat lie! I was hoping to see a big difference in our power bill. True, our PG and E bill is practically nothing about $14 dollars, but our Vivint bill is $305.00. Yes, that is still about 100 dollars less than this time last year with just PG and E. I was hoping for a bigger savings. Travis made us believe that our power bill from Vivint would be around $200. Between waiting forever to get up and running to being lied to about the incentives and not seeing a reduction of about 50% on our electricity bill I would have to say BUYER BEWARE! I was sooo skeptical about doing this. Vivint confirmed my fears and now we are married them for at least 20 years.

AVOID VIVANT SOLAR!!!!!!!! This company is absolutely HORRIBLE and I have advised EVERYONE that I know to run!!! My whole experience has been completely beyond aggravating and I am sorry I ever started the process. From inspectors showing up without notification, no notification that the system was being installed, the system being put on standby for weeks with no one noticing until I drove to the local office, nothing but lip service and passing of the buck for the "customer service department" to absolutely no one having the ability to tell me why my app is not working nor how to fix it and being put on hold for an hour and a half. JUST DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!

I have had solar from Vivint for about 18 months. The first year was fine. and I have no complaints about the system. This year the whole thing fell apart from the billing point of view. I stated getting crazy bills in April which billed for solar production at three times what was possible. I went back though my bills and discovered that the bills for this year were totally unrelated to my solar production. I called customer service and the rep told me she understood and would fix it. Nothing happened. I called again a week later, and the rep told me that the bill was high because of daylight savings time which increased the amount of energy received from the sun. I kept getting messages from the Company to pay my bill but any attempt to respond the the messages resulted in dead ends. I finally wrote the the company president about the problem and have received no reply. Another bill came today and said that I owed them $234.00. At the current rate of under 17.5 cents per KWH, I should have produced over 1337 KWHs. The website says that I produced 444 KWH Which means that they charged me is 3 times the contracted rate. I have yet to have a person contact me with an explanation.

Salesman is very tricky! He used "veteran" word to attract, and come to doors and say he's not selling anything, I entertained him as he's a fellow veteran, and down the road, laid his program and as he laid his program, he was asking personal info like birth date, phone numbers and any info that you put when you apply for a loan. Take note he asked this questions in between discussions so its not very obvious that he was filling out the application for you and then he will ask you to sign and give your last four of SSN. Very tricky and unprofessional. Take note! he said he's not selling anything, but how come he filled out application for you. Luckily, I already picked up where he heading to so I ride long...beware for the tricky salesman out there!!!!

Several years ago (in my 70s) these unscrupulous people began their reign of terror on me. They put solar panels on my roof damaging it to the point where they had to remove them and after many months during the rainy season finally got around to fixing the roof. By then my walls were full of mold, the floors had to be replaced, roof on top and inside removed and replaced with considerable confusion and missed repair dates, etc. It was horrible and we had to move out with much of the furniture. On and on it went. I never received benefit of solar only destruction. Even though after all of the fighting, delays and falsehood were over and the panels were long gone back to their yards they sent maintenance men out to my home where I had no solar. Here we are years down the road and they've threatened me with legal action wanting well over $30,000 for the rest of my contract and periodically try to get monthly payments for my solar service as well. I'm 75 yrs old on Social Security and they are not entitled to any of it. Attorneys seem uninterested in my petty little problem. These vultures just persist. Any idea what I do now? I've looked for class action suits to join to no avail. I will be contacting the State Attorney General's Office Complaint Dept soon. As soon as I get the energy. Their contract indicated they had $300,000 liability coverage. Any ideas out there to help?

Same Story...ripped off with the contract that you see "after the panels are installed" saying it's a 20 year contract when I specifically told them "NO CONTRACT", and was assured that was the case. Second, I just got a bill from both Edison and Vivant for over $150 from each for the month of June...My system is completely down, the breaker does nothing to turn it on, and of course VIVANT did nothing to Contact Us to let us know there was a problem?? WTF? Of course once I contact SCE who has 24 hour service, they tell me they have received no power for over a month?? Again WTF VIVANT? They have No Customer Service on Saturday?? System is Dead and no one to contact?? WTF again ViVANT…

Vivint Solar sales representative mislead, deceived, and lied over and over again about every important aspect of what the customer would receive, pay, and experience. Vivint knows exactly what it is doing. Hearing people's stories from different areas proves to me that they have a script, stick to it, and take people for their money. I’m disgusted that the state of California state attorney general allows this company to continue to lie and scam people the way it does without investigating and putting a stop to it. It’s a life-altering, detrimental physical and emotional experience that the customer is left to deal with on his or her own, without knowing who to turn to for help. Absolutely stay away from VIVINT and solar!!!! All digital correspondence= Vivint Lies so much and ‘knows’ people that don’t much use computers, or only have a smart phone will not read through 50 pages or so of anything. And they say it’s all ‘legalese’, nothing to worry about. LIARS! Free= $40,000 noose around your neck! Savings= paying more for your energy than you were! David M, the sales rep to 4 people on our street , lied to everyone!!! I’m sure Vivint gave him a raise. We are also close to needing a new roof, and david said ‘No problem, we do it all the time. We will take care of everything, no charge’ LIARS! I am wishing New Mexico State Attorney General, Hector B, ALL the force of the world in his lawsuit against Vivint. Vivint deserves -1,000 stars

I seem to have the same problem as Patricia R. Was told no charge if panels have to be removed to put new roof on. Had the panels up by Jan 2017. Now I have leaks and need the panels removed and was told it would cost me $2440. One issue is one area of the panels is causing the leak but a Rep from Vivint came and said not the panels its the condition of the Roof. So why after only 2 years is my roof in poor condition. The panels should have not been installed and was certified by them to be in good shape at the time, which obviously is not the case. I have been on the phone with customer service, damage resolutions, my original salesman multiple times and everyone except the salesman is just telling me there is nothing they can do. And I have been bounced around between those two department without anyone helping other to say "sorry but that's all I can do", which basically is nothing. I asked to be transferred over to his supervisor and he said he can't do that. Wow, now that is unheard of. On top of that we had two vivint inspectors come here and one says its the panels and the other says its the roof. So they stick with the one that says not the panels. The leaks are getting worse and ruining my ceiling and floors which will be an additional cost to repair. This is the worst customer service dept I have ever incountered. I refuse to pay $2440 when in fact the panels were installed based on their advice.

When I agreed to have Vivant Solar panels put on my roof in 2017 I informed the salesman that my roof was 20 years old and would need to be replaced. He told me that was not a problem when I was ready to replace my roof the panels would be removed and replaced free of charge. This spring 2019 I contracted to have my new roof put on. I then called Vivant solar and was told it would be a $4500.00 charge to have the solar panels removed and replaced. When I told the Vivant representative that I was going to contact my lawyer I was contacted the next day and told that they would remove and replace the panels for 450.00 I agreed. I was then told that they would not be able to schedule the removal and replacement to be done until the 3rd week in May their installation and removal team had quit . I then contacted them beginning of 4th week on May 21. I was on hold for 45 minutes cut off left on hold again for another 30 mins. Without being connected to the installation/removal dept. when I asked the Vivant Representative for a direct number he put me on hold again and then gave me the general Number that I had been calling. I have never received such poor customer service from a company and would not recommend Vivant Solar to any one.

Horrible company! Installed panels on a leaky roof. Said the roof was good for another couple of years, even though I pointed out yellow marks in the ceiling. The day the solar panels were put on, an installer went in the attic, and there was a big hole in the attic roof! Was charged in excess of $3k to have them removed for a new roof. Salesman said $1k. He, of course, denied this. Panels did not work properly. Was months before it was fixed. New configuration. Now I have an electric bill. Never did hefore, During re-installation a tile in a patio table got broke. The installer said he reported it. A tile close to the broken one cannot be found. So now Got have to buy a new table. Hold time is ridiculous, often exceeding an hour. Representatives use the proper, I'm sorry, etc. but appeared apologies do not pay the bills, nor ease my total frustration. The reps are clueless. I finally had a couple of conversations with an escalation rep, who just closed the ticket without resolving any issues, in fact, I did not even have the opportunity to discuss most if the issues with him. He just wanted this put it all back on us, accepting no responsibility for the company's errors. There are too many to list here. Next stop Better Business Bureau, since Vivint is useless!

The correct solar data isn't matching up to my utility bill. I understand that billing cycles are different, but when the utility reports 12 KwH and Vivint gloats about 310 KwH during the same time frame, somethings a miss. Looking over my bill I am charged $0.1323551/kWh. My utility charges me $0.13347/kWh (Generation, Distribution, and Transmission). Saving me a whopping $0.001115/KwH. That's $0.35 savings, if the 310KwH was properly reported. It's not worth it. It's a headache paying two bills every month. Since the correct solar data is not being reported i'm spending more than i would if i was strictly on the grid. I regret putting these things on my roof. Also, the sales rep was shady. He promised $500 in incentives, then the system wasn't big enough and i qualified for only $100. Haven't seen a cent in incentives.

I was told a 7-Kw would be enough to get rid of my electric bill and that the loan would be 25k. After researching I found this price was acceptable. The paperwork they showed me said 35k, I brought this up and the representative assured me it would be 25k on the loan due to 10k that they were going to apply. The loan paper said 25k choice target balance, I was satisfied and the install went really well. After doing my taxes my accountant pointed out that the balance is actually 35k and the choice target balance is just a number you get when you pay 10k within the first year or else it goes up!!! 35k for a 7Kw system?! Really? They are crooks, there is no way I am using them for my next home.

I really dont know where to try to begin. If I could have you all come RIP these Solar panels off my home and not be stuck with this 25k bill I most certainly would. There have been scheduling issues and communication issues not once not twice but several times. Even though the app and phone system says you're open on a Saturday you're really not. so getting any type of help is like everything else worthless. So now that we have established the lack of communication let's move on to the safety issues. After these panel were install in January and me complaining about an issue coming from my fuse box, that was causing the lights in my home to flicker was due to them damaging my main breaker switch causing it to arcI really dont know where to try to begin. Worst customer service department I've ever had to deal with. Makes the cable companies look great. Ordered animal guards for my system because of squirrels. I paid for them in Oct 2017 and they were installed in November. After installation I was told they could not complete the job and someone would contact me by the end of the week to complete the job. Never got a call. I called Vivint over a half a dozen times in the next few months to get the situation resolved. Was hung up on twice being "transferred". Was told by two different reps that I would get my money back which never happened. Shut my system down in April 2018 so they would no longer make money on my system. Finally got a email in September that they wanted to come out and check the system. I told them not to bother unless they were going to finish the animal guards. Finally got a call from a local manager who tried to help me, but once the main office got involved it got worse. After inspecting my system the wiring was damaged by the squirrels as well as a section of the roof. Was told they would come out to remove the panels fix them and the roof and have the system reinstalled. After getting emails about when they could reinstall I informed them no one had come to fix the roof yet and was sent on another customer service nightmare call. After an hour on the phone I was told Vivint was not responsible for fixing the roof despite being told they would do so. Then i was left on hold for ove r15 minutes before I finally hung up. Have requested the number for my local rep, but have not received that yet either. I would never recommend Vivint to anyone. I'm also aware of other who have had nightmare experiences with their customer service. Do not get Viovint whatever you do.

I called asked where was my re feral fee was and was told it would be mailed to mailed soon. Here it is March 2019 and still no check. I called 4 times and still could not get an answer to this. I finally received a phone and they asked me if I received my check and if I didnt to call a number. I called and they said they would get back to me. Never called me back. The salesman was very good! Promised everything! Told them before installation that the prime location for the panels had a previously installed pre-water heater solar tank. They assured me that my panels would be installed there and the old solar system would be taken down. They ended up putting my panels on a shady part of my roof! The first year, my true-up in addition to monthly charges and my PGE bill was more than I was paying before installation! I complained and they promised to come out and investigate. Many months passed, another bad true-up bill and finally, new panels were installed ....after I paid $1,000 to remove my old solar system and repair the roof to allow for the new panels to be installed, it has been 7 months!!! They are not activated yet and I call regularly and get responses like "we understand why you are frustrated and will look into the problem and get back to you". No one ever calls, emails or writes to me!! My true up bill will continue to grow as this company does nothing to activate my system. I am very frustrated and am getting close to just asking them to please just send someone out to remove this and let me find a solar company that will help me save money and save energy. I am not a happy customer and feel let down by empty promises. So sad to have wasted my time with this company that does not follow through with contract agreements.....

Vivint does not stand behind their work and their customer service is horrible. Last year, our roof began to leak under the panels they put in. We called and they came out, saw the leak was their fault, did some cheap fix and left. Sometime during the installation and repair they broke a number of our roof tiles but told us nothing. This year more rain and the leak returned. This time when we called they blamed the damage on birds! This was without ever looking. The leak was in the same place...it is the same leak! After calling again, they said to send a roofer's estimate. We did, they send us an email thanking us and promising to contact us quickly...they never did. I posted our frustration on their Facebook page where we received an invitation to contact them. We did and received a phone message and email asking for the estimate and our number. Both were provided, however, whenever my husband called him the line would disconnect. The only emails he answered were ones where we said we would contact other review sites and tell them the truth. We did learn that our claim was being denied (again Damage Resolutions NEVER told us this). We were asked to send pictures of the damage. We did. No reply. We have another roofer who has said the damage is too extensive to be due to birds or natural causes. It is due to Vivint's workers. We will be sending his information also. Well it do any good? Based on past performances...no. If only we had known how weak they are. The lease is for twenty years! Buyer beware! We will be contacting every review place we can to get the word out. We are thinking of looking into taking legal action. Read other reviews! See how many people have had a terrible experience! Going solar can be great...just not with Vivint.

This company is the biggest joke. We have had to call over a dozen times for multiple issues over the last few years. Each time you speak to someone they have no clue what is going on. They must not document each phone call. People on the other end of phone are clueless. Have also gotten several emails regarding the same issues and have responded but still get more emails. We have been quoted one price from one person then another price from someone else. Overall I would love to get these panels off our roof and be done with the company. They certainly are not saving us money and the hassle just is not worth it!! If your contemplating panels, do your research and stay clear of Vivint Solar.

This is by far the biggest scam I've ever had the misfortune of encountering. The tactics of this company are the equivalent of old fashioned bait and switch. My husband and I were approached by a door to door Vivint salesman who managed to convince us to schedule an appointment to hear more about the company. At the time of the appointment, he showed up with one of his supervisors and the two of them successfully convinced us that signing up with the company was a no brainier : we would be getting our electricity for significantly less money and helping the environment to boot. At first, as we were going thru the initial enrollment process we were contacted by customer service representatives almost daily to check in on us, or remind us that they are available any time to answer all your questions. The sales rep we met with left us his cell phone number and was in constant contact. All this ended as soon as we completed our enrollment -- suddenly we were faced with dead silence. We were told it would take about 4 weeks to obtain the necessary permits and proceed with the installation. Well, over two months went by and we didn't hear a word from anyone -- no updates or explanations at all. Finally we were able to get thru to someone who gave us a vague excuse about delayed permits and was essentially dodging the issue. A few months later the panels were installed and we received a "permission to operate" notice. When we signed our contract with Vivint we were told we would pay $152 a month, which would automatically be deducted from my bank account. Well, three weeks after we began operating the solar panels, Vivint deducted over $160 dollars from my bank account. In addition we received a full bill from PSEG for electricity as well. When we called Vivint we kept getting the run around. It was always the same story-- we would speak to someone who would look into our file, tell us we were correct and that the amount they deducted was a mistake, but that they needed to escalate this to a supervisor who would get back to us in 5 to 7 days. This was literally the script we received each of the 5 to 6 times we called . And of course , we never heard back from anyone. I posted a negative review of Vivint on another website and within a day got an email and phone call from a supervisor who promised me (in writing ) that the issue would be resolved within 4 days. Well, it's now over 2 weeks and not a word from her or anyone. My husband also called again and asked to speak with a supervisor who promised him resolution by the end of that week and once again never bothered calling or emailing back or taking care of this error. I have taken matter into my own hands and have filed an official complaint with the BBB. Dealing with this company has been a nightmare..the more I've read about other customers' experience the more I realize that this is how they operate as everyone seems to have a similar story to mine. They sucker you in, overcharge despite promising you that you would be saving money, then pull a disappearing act. I warn everyone out there to steer clear of this company.

Like every other review written on here, I was scammed by Vivint as well. The sales rep lied to our faces saying that our electric bill would be $10 a month to PSEG. 3 months later we are now paying PSEG the full amount as well as our lease payment to Vivint. Supervisors will not help in any way and I am considering taking legal action. Seeing all these other reviews, I wish I had read them before I got conned by this horrible company. Vivint is a complete scam and the entire company should be shut down. I don't understand how they get away with lying to people over and over and are allowed to do so.

I had solar panels installed by this company - and within a year and a half they leaked horribly! What this company did was an absolute crime...... my roof was 19 years old - and they NEVER should have put up solar panels on a 19 year old roof........ and SECOND - part of my roof is at a very low pitch - and this is where they leaked - not one panel - ALL of the panels!!! The water damage in my house was horrible! I will give the company this - they stepped up and paid me $5,000....... BUT - I ended up replacing my whole roof - for $12,000 - and years earlier too. Thats another thing they don't tell you of course - solar panels will reduce the life of your roof too! Absolutely DO NOT GO WITH THEM !!!!!

I am so disappointed in this company. I was very excited when the solar panels were installed on my roof 3 months ago. Since then - nothing. I can't get anyone who seems to know what is going on with getting inspections scheduled, getting documents signed, getting the power company to come and hook up the panels. Nothing. I waste lots of time calling their customer support, who are nice but don't have any answers and don't know when anything will happen. I can't get anyone who can answer my questions about when my system will be operational. Even better, I just made the first payment on the loan I took out to pay for the solar panels, and they are not producing any power yet!!

I'd like to know why every month my billing statement is dated around the 5th of the month and it takes roughly 5 days or more for an email to travel to my house with the bill? That only leaves me less then 10 days to get the bill, write the check and for the check to travel to the west coast by the 20th of the month. Every other business gives me almost three weeks. I think it's time for me to file a complaint with the BBB... I've called the customer service Dept and got nothing but Blah Blah Blah

Had my panels installed a year ago . Still not turned on. There customer service is a complete joke . They totally lie to you . Ask them there name and they will not give you there last name , gee I wonder why. It’s a shame to , the install process was so smooth . The crew did a really good job and was curtious and clean. Main problem is customer service or COMPLETE LACK OF! 20 Year lease with a company like this was not a good idea. Definitely find yourself another company . Oh forgot to mention the referral fee of 200$ I never received . I gave my salesman 3 customers so I should have 600$ , right ? Ya I got 0$ just excuses .

Unfortunately NO stars is not an option. ANyone considering this company,do not choose them. THey are rogues!!!!!!! They will be nice and pretend to be nice while you are signing the contract andbefore the install. It will be a completely different story after. They will MANDATE directly debiting your account without you having any idea how much they will deduct. IFyou do not agree, they will NOT GIVE YOU access to your bills and yet send threatening debt collections to you each time. FOr almost a year, they have blocked online access and refused to send any bills. Instead they willclaim they cannot mail any bills and they also cannot email any bills. you will only have ONLINE access if you allow them to automatically deducting any amount from your account each month. BEWARE and choose another solar provider or keep with your current BGE OR Pepco.

We signed with Vivant. At first our electricity bill was less than average, which was good for us. However after 5 months after install, a total of $640 was debited on our checking account with absolutely no notice from the company. When we talked to customer service, they said it was back pay for the usage we had. This was in addition to the payments for electricity we had already made. After some discussion, it was determined that the error was due to an overcharge. And to make things worse, there was no avenue to return the $640. It would be used as a credit to our account. This is a downright robbery in my opinion. And when a company takes a large amount out of your checking account with no notice, it makes life very difficult to replace the missing funds. Very very unhappy with this way this company does business. I am sure it has happened to others. If i could give it zero stars I would.
