If you are looking to add solar to your home, please proceed with caution. We had a miserable time communicating with Sempar Solaris and they had multiple delays at our expense. For context, our solar panels were installed in September 2020 but they were not activated until February 2021. I am very understanding that COVID caused many delays all around, however, this was 6 months of time waiting to use a service that we were ACTIVELY paying for. We would always receive calls that someone would get back to us and these calls would go on for weeks on months before anything actually happened. All that we asked was that Sempar Solaris rectify the extra cost they incurred to us since we had to pay 6 months of our solar loan (even though we weren't able to use solar) AND PGE! We only asked to be reimbursed for whichever bill was lowest for those months. Then we went back and forth with customer rep Laney for ANOTHER 6 MONTHS before they agreed to send us a measly $200 for our inconvenience. Don't waste your time and energy on them.

Here's the very brief version of my very lengthy nightmare experience with Semper Solaris after contracting with them to add 2 Tesla Powerwall batteries to my existing solar panel system: - They don't have access to batteries less than 6 months out and will lie about availability - They will schedule installation dates with full knowledge they don't have anything available to install and repeatedly reschedule at the last minute in an attempt to cover for themselves. - They don't read the notes from failed code inspections, don't fix the problems multiple times, and lie about what's wrong. - They don't know the electrical code in California and will lie about local code having changed to cover for it. - They don't know the SGIP process or requirements and will get it wrong. - They refuse to provide their legally required contractor's bond information when repeatedly asked for it.

Stay away and use another solar company. Semper Solaris is dishonorable and misrepresents their services. There was so many issues with our installation that I requested a small 5% discount/reduction for all the misrepresentations and inconveniences. They choose to battle me over email and voicemails left at 7AM or on weekends over multiple months. Their communication was horrific. They just ask for money vs. trying to solve a problem or even apologize. They have not agreed to any resolution except to threaten me. They do not care about customer service or satisfaction. There are many solar installation companies, don't use Semper you will be much happier. Here are the details. First they promised to install by the end of Dec, but then delayed until March, then April. We locked in a good week when the kids didn't have school some days. We made our work schedules light because we expected power disruptions and banging on the roof. The installation took 6 days vs. 2 days promised due to their teams working short hours, 4-5 hours and not having full teams show up together. Even worse it was not 6 consecutive days but spread out over 4 weeks. They had to turn off our power most of those days creating many issues as we worked from home and had kids in school via Zoom. Additionally, they had told us they could install the equipment on the side of our house, but when they came to install it was physically impossible and thus they had to install on the back of our house, not hidden and creating an eyesore. Had we know this, we would have made a very different decision and not purchased the Powerwall. See pictures to see the promise vs. reality. Also note how many boxes are needed, I have not seen that at our friend's house who have solar. Their installers were polite, the problem was always with Headquarters which is likely not local. I strongly recommend avoiding any Semper Solaris franchise because they all connect to the back-end HQ which doesn't care about its customers or local providers.

My solar panels were installed by Semper Solaris and after some difficulty getting service, things have been okay. I signed up for the solar battery program as I thought with the rebate, it was a good deal. That was in June of 2020. Each time I called my salesperson asking about when it was going to happen, I was told that there was some movement ahead of me. Finally, in March of 2021, I asked my salesperson if I would get my $1,000 deposit back if I cancelled since it had been almost a year and we were considering moving. He said I would get the deposit back and I cancelled (or, thought I did). Three months later, Semper Solaris called me to tell me that they were ready to install. Obviously, news of my cancellation had not reached them. It is now September, 2021 and I have still not received my deposit back. My salesperson told me someone would call and that has not happened since I was told in June to expect that call. The salesperson will not return emails or calls now. I am very disappointed with the way this has played out. We are moving and I am planning on installing solar at the new house and will very carefully research which company to go with.

Semper Solaris is either stunningly incompetent or downright crooked, from my experience, seemingly both. If I were a former Marine I would be furious at their misappropriation of the Marine motto, “Semper Fi” (“Semper Fidelus” is Latin for “always faithful”). More fitting for this clown act would be “Simper Fly’” as all they did was feed me simpering BS and fly away from fulfilling their contractual obligations to me. I first spoke with them in December of 2020 about roof repair and a solar project. They made several errors on my initial quote concerning both costs of work and amount electricity generated (some of which I found and pointed out to them). After these errors were corrected and I signed and paid a deposit then they tried to rewrite my signed contract to increase prices by $7881 for additional errors they claimed to have found a month later. When I tried to cut them a break just to get my project done and agreed to reduce the scope of the project so they wouldn’t lose money because of THEIR errors, they sent me near daily change orders that significantly reduced the scope without reducing the price. When I called multiple people to sort out the mess, they were all very nice, but all I got were promises of actions that didn’t happen. This dragged on for months while dry rot continued to eat my roof. On top of all of this, they kept sending me DocuSign agreements that would give them authority to deduct payments directly from my bank account without even specifying amounts! When I finally talked to the boss of the guy who had made the errors in the quote, he tried to convince me that this is all normal in the roofing business! I finally told them that if they aren’t going to fulfill my contract as agreed, that they can cancel it. They wasted months of my time, caused me a lot of frustration and stress and now I am back to square one needing to get my roof fixed. Now that I am reading their reviews, I am seeing huge numbers of highly detailed 1-2 star reviews of their screw ups that are similar to my experience plus lots of 5 star reviews that are very short and ring hollow.

Hi Noel, we are proud of our military background and support our vets, and our customers, as much as possible. We hold our team members to high standards of honesty, integrity, and top-quality installations and consultations as well. Although we aim to create all-inclusive estimates based on what we're able to see at the time of inspection, there are some things that we cannot see until we get started on the work, such as rotted wood that's found once we tear off the roofing material. We are aware that you've cancelled your project, but we will look further into your project and see if there is anything that we can address to improve our customer experience in the future.

This Company is a Joke. I could have made a baby in the time it took them to fail, fail, and fail again to deliver an approved plan from the city. Started October 2020 and canceled my project June 2021. 9 months wasted, of time, labor, and money completely wasted. Red Flags started going up when my sales guy, Paul R, seemed to start malfunctioning, spewing out incorrect footages for setbacks (doing a ground mount). It always seemed like he was just guessing where it was suppost to go. The Guy could barely read a tape measure. I kept asking him details about the location for the array and he really was clueless and kept giving me incorrect info. Then their planning dept kept screwing up footage numbers and it kept changing over and over for set backs from property line and then later they discovered their would be a easement set back as well. Shouldn't these people know their job??? So I requested for a new person to work with and they gave me Nicole L. My worst mistake. Working with her proved to be quite Humiliating. Shes very good at making it seem like the city is the only reason for all these delays. Never taking any Blame for Mistakes made over and over again on their inexperienced staff that continued to fail delivering a drawing for 9 months. So I told them to request a special variance. They didn't even know how to do it or what it was. I later found out on some notes on the plans that the city stated that they needed to apply for the variance in the correct way. so they never really did this and clearly that request failed as well. So then the company decides to move the location to another spot that, ALSO, wouldn't work. It kept inching closer to putting it on my driveway and behind and almost under an oak tree. I received an email with plans that were showing that the array needed to be moved based on the center of the easement, which I soon discovered they were basing the measurements off of my fence line which actually wasn't my actual property line. My pm was dumbfounded. I kept telling Nicole that these guys obviously do NOT know what they are doing. I felt like maybe I needed to go elsewhere. But she assured me to continue my patience that they would get this done and ended up giving me 2 different dates, months apart, but they always failed to deliver and it just kept getting pushed back more and more. At this point, one would start to realize that everyday its not installed, is more money out of my pocket from sdge. Suddenly, months later, I receive a call from this girl Stacy and she tells me that my install date has been moved again to July 2nd 2021 from June 15th. I asked her why and she said we are still waiting on the city to approve the plans. I explained to her my entire story and experience and how frustrated we were. I expressed that we would probably be needing to go find another company if this kept getting pushed back but... "lets see how things go". We agreed upon that note. The following day I receive an email that we later found out, from my project manager Tony, That it was Nicole who generated it. No signature at the bottom of it however! She states to me 'Upon MY request to cancel the work, that they will be refunding my money. So I super panic and call Tony. He knows nothing about it, but sees that the work order has been closed. So I couldn't get ahold of Nicole or Stacy and I'm send out emails and text saying woah woah I never said we wanted to cancel and to stop this from happening. So I call into the main line and ends up a manager calls me back and tells me they are terminating the job because I expressed to Stacy that we may need to look elsewhere and that may follow with a not so good review of my experience. IN my opinion, a very well deserved statement at this point. Nicole texts me back hours later, as usual, says she will call me tomorrow. We chat and she tells me over the phone that she felt that I wasn't being patient enough with the process but if i had that would be one thing but since I stated the things I expressed to Stacy that she feels she needs to protect her employees and terminate the Contract. Even though i'm feeling super overwhelmed and shocked and offended at this point, I did get her to agree that her staff is part of the problem. I tried to get her to change her mind by apologizing and said I'll just keep my mouth shut over here if we can continue because 9 months is a very long time to just kick me to the curb based on some feedback, were so close. She said she'll call me later and think about it. At this point, I'm feeling played hard. This young lady has completely put me in a very horrible situation. It feels like she is being super unprofessional and childish at this point, literally sending me texts terminating the contract, later that afternoon. I hope the Owners see this, I hope everyone reads this and considers going elsewhere. Don't Let them play you and waste your time. Shame on the staff at Semper Solaris mainly Nicole

COMPLAINT IS IT TOOK 405 DAYS TO COMPLETE OUR SYSTEM INSTALLATION. IT WAS ONLY 22 PANELS. THEY FAILED 4 DIFFERENT INSPECTIONS, DID NOT BUILD ACCORDING TO THEIR PLANS THEY SUBMITED, DID NOT INSTALL EMERGANCY SHUT OFF AS REQUIRED BY THE COUNTY. DO YOUR SELF AND ALL YOUR FRINEDS AND FAMILY A FAVOR AND STAY A LONG WAY AWAY FROM SEMPER SOLARIS FOR ANY SERVICE FOR THEIR HOMES. WE LOST 6 MONTHS OF ENERGY PRODUCTION, WE PAID $1400.00 ON OUR SOLAR LOAN TO THEIR FINACE COMPANY BEFORE THE SYSTEM COULD EVEN BE TURNED ON. WE HAD WATER DAMAGE INSIDE OUR BEDROOM FROM THEIR ROOF TOP PENETRATIONS FOR THE SOLAR PANEL RACKES. IT TOOK THEM 3 DAYS TO EVEN RESPOND TO US ABOUT THE WATER DAMAGE. MY WIFE IS ON THE LUNG TRANSPLANT LIST AT STANFORD SO WE HAD TO MOVE OUT OF OUR BEDROOM UNTIL THEY COULD FIX THE CELING AND MAKE IT SAFE, WE WERE CONCERNED BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL FOR MOLD AND MILDEW. IT TOOK THEM 1 1/2 MONTHS, ONE AND ONE HALF MONTHS TO FINSH THE REPAIRS. STAY FAR AWAY FROM DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM. DAVE AND PATSI

Semper Solaris Tried to up charge me twice for 2500.00 each time. After a site inspection they started installing in a couple of weeks. So far so good. Once they started I get a call trying to get me to pay another 2500.00. I told them they can leave. So they told me they would just absorb the cost. Project continued, they told me they would have to cut the driveway, I said ok as long as they fix it. The job foreman said of course they would. Cool! Contractor came out to appraise the concrete job, then nothing. I kept calling to see what was going on. After trying 3 or 4 times, I was told they would have to get approval because the cost was so high. Then nothing again. After calling all the time with no return phone calls. I finally got a call, they said they weren’t paying for the concrete to get repaired. What a bunch of crap! Now I’m getting a attorney to sue them for the driveway repair.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but our experience with Semper was pretty awful, from start to finish. I don't mean just annoying and vaguely less than on the ball awful, the two-star variety of awful. I mean such a relentless, ever-rolling stream of screw-ups that it became a family joke. Because, you know, sometimes all you can do is laugh. To start with, it took them nearly a year and four months after we signed the contract to get the system up and running. But mere slowness is not what lands them in one star land. It's their unbridled, relentless, needless screwups that led directly to these delays. Here are the highlights of our depressing slog with Semper: * In January 2020, after a couple months of back and forth with our sales person, we studied the proposal he had given us detailing the price, system size, physical components, and promised energy generation, and chose Semper over two other companies. Within literally minutes after signing the contract, however, the sales person emailed back to us saying that oops, he'd mistakenly given us too low a price, and would need to charge us about $3,000 more. We, being in possession of a basic understanding of how a legal contract works, said no. This set off a couple of months of relentlessly, exhaustingly trying to get the corporate office to acknowledge the contract that the sales person had signed (which they finally did, only after I finally got hold of a top company manager. Who did not apologize.) * When they started designing our system, they told us that oops, they'd mistakenly underestimated the number of panels we'd need to generate the level of production they'd promised us, and would need to charge us roughly $3,000 more to add the additional panels. So another round of weeks of explaining to them that when you sign a contract with certain specs, it's actually binding on you. * Months went by after that hearing nothing. I contacted their customer service line, which is staffed entirely by nice, chipper people who are utterly unfamiliar with your particular project, they're just messengers. And this particular chipper messenger assured us, week after week, that our permit would be issued shortly - about three or four times, she told us we'd get our permit "in only two weeks now!"; and then told me he exact same thing again when the permit didn't actually materialize in that time frame. Well, I got suspicious and actually called the County permitting staff, and found out that they had identified problems with the permit application and sent it back to Semper with comments - which Semper had simply let drop. So, I spent another several months sorting that all out. With Semper continuing to give me information that was plainly wrong about the permit issuance status, again and again. * When we finally got the permit, installation was a comedy of errors. Semper operates on such a decentralized model that they cannot even keep basic scheduling or project status straight. We embarked on another six months of utter scheduling chaos. Workers would not show up when scheduled, but then would show up unannounced, having no idea at all what the status of our installation was or what they were supposed to be doing. Inspectors would show up at our house and wait around and ultimately leave frustrated because the Semper rep had failed to come. One or two scheduling screwups would be annoying, but it was relentless and constant. * When we finally got the system running, we discovered that they had basically broken our HVAC system when doing a simple add-on (soft start) to our AC system. They eventually fixed it, but not before walking away and leaving us without heat on a cold night. This list doesn't by any means capture it all - it's just the highlights. An overall problem with Semper, in addition to their decentralization, seems to be that they are understaffed. The one person I finally identified who was actually consistently helpful and knowledgeable (thank you Jessica!) had a huge workload and little assistance. What Semper needs to do is get rid of their model of using a generic customer service line (the chipper messengers) and assign a single project manager - with technical chops - to each sale. Who will see the personally project through start to finish, be consistently on top of all the scheduling and technical details, and be consistently available to the customer. And who, needless to say, should understand the legal meaning of a contract. Until and unless they completely revamp their business model, I would stay far away from this company.

After reading a bunch of reviews, i feel like I also needed too. First I choose Semper to install solar panels approximately 2 years ago. They are military and first responder friendly but mostly they all did a great job. The initial contact was great, the team that came out did a professional job. I had no problems. So when the sales gentleman contacted me about getting Tesla home batteries and that I qualify for a rebate I didn’t think twice. Guess I really should have. I started this project back in March of 2020, it’s now April of 2021 and still waiting. I have been scheduled four different times to just have all four canceled for one reason or other. Using excuses as it’s raining, to it has to go back to the building department and the last one a transportation delay. Every time except for the last one I had to call and find out why nobody showed up. No one called me to inform me. I am now coming up on the end of May 2021 in four weeks and possibly losing my rebate. When I call to find out why or what is happening I get the run around. I have told them many times that if I don’t get the rebate I will have to cancel my project even if the system is up due to not being able to afford it, and they just don’t care. I had someone from the SPIG section tell me that I was wrong about my dead line being the end of this May, until I showed them the email they sent that specifically states the rebate can be voided if not completed by them. Every time I call or email the staff in San Jose it takes days for a response. Why? I would attach all the emails I have, and yes I have them all it’s one thing I have learned to do is case things like this come up, but it would be pages. The few responses I do get just say “I will get the right person to get in touch”. Still waiting. Only one person by the name of Tawny has gotten back to me the same day, everyone else takes days. I know two people, one of which I referred them to Semper that have already had their systems installed and running, while I sit here and wait. Why is it taking over 14 months to get my system installed? The meaning of Semper as I understand it is “Always faithful”, As I stated earlier I used this company because of the solar panel installation they did and the great experience I had with them. Not sure if the battery section is the same as solar or possibly different, but either way this has been the single worst experience I have ever had hiring a contractor to do work. I have really been excited about these batteries due to having PGE and they turn off power any time the wind blows, but at this point I almost don’t even care anymore. Not worth the headache. I have lost almost all faith with this company and it’s ability to communicate.

Hi Ben, our goal is to complete each project in a timely manner with a superior installation. Over the past year, we have hit a few snags with Covid delays, especially in the Bay Area with the shelter-in-place order, and have done everything possible to expedite projects while working with building departments and utility companies. We would like to look into your account and project delays and see what we can do to make things right. I really thought I had found a good company to install our solar battery. Robin came out, was very nice and explained everything to us. We felt comfortable with him so we signed the contract and gave a $1,000.00 deposit. It took quite a while for the process to get started which I can understand. The crew that came out was very nice but they weren't able to finish the install. 1.5 months later, they finally came back to finish the install. When returning home on the day of the install, we found that most of our house didn't have any power. We weren't able to get hold of anyone at the company, so we called the installer directly. He was apologetic and came out that night to try and fix the problem. He was able to fix most of it but one-third of our kitchen and our dishwasher still had no power. After repeated calls and emails to the company, they said they would send someone out in 2 weeks. The day came and went and their person didn't show up. Again, repeated calls and emails to the company only to be told their guy called in sick and they would get back to me on when they might be able to have someone come out and fix the problem. At this point, we ended calling an electrician and paying for it out of pocket. It took a third installation date to finally finish the project. I was told I had to be home which I didn't understand as the system is outside and I didn't have to be home for either of the other 2 visits. I took a vacation day only to be told by the installer that there was no reason for me have to be home. Once the project was done, I was invoiced the final payment, which I paid. A few weeks later I get a not so nice email stating I have a past due balance and need to pay it immediately. Looking back at the invoices, I paid the amount that was invoiced each time as well as the deposit which I explained to them. They have now charged my credit card $1,000.00 which I did not authorize. Save yourself the pain and go with a company that has good customer service and stands behind their work. This company is not it.

I don't write many reviews but feel it is necessary that I provide my experience so those considering Semper Solaris as their Solar Provider will be informed to not make the same mistake I did. I started this journey as most of you do by researching all the companies in a competitive space to make sure you are making the right choice. I met with Several companies and had it narrowed down to a very well known business that has been in the solar industry longer than anyone else nationally. However; there were some appealing things about Semper Solaris at the time that I appreciated and being a Military Vet myself; that was important to me. I was then persuaded by free Tesla 2 Power Walls as part of the package; that made it hard to turn down and giving back to my military brothers and sisters would have been a good choice so I made the choice to go with Semper Solaris. Well...I started this project with Semper Solaris in September of last year with the promise that I'd have Solar Panels and batteries before the end of the year last year so I could take advantage of the Solar Tax credit. Here I am at the end of March the following year with nothing to show for. Had the government not extended the Solar Tax Credit for another 2 years, this would have been a huge disappointment as the Tax Credit was supposed to go down significantly in 2021 which was another selling tactic by Semper Solaris, bullying tactic really. If it weren't for me calling and emailing their customer service; I would have not gotten the information they were sitting on for almost a month...so I was told. They were aware that I was not able to get the batteries and that the State Rebate ran out so now I was left with nothing but a work order to now have to pay another 10K... I'm no business man but I do understand dollars and cents, doesn't take a genius to know that is not how business should be done. The problem was; I was setup for failure from the get go and a design that was over provisioned. That information should have been communicated to me as soon if not within the week this information was given to Semper Solaris. This should have been taken into account if the selling point is getting free batteries instead of designing an over provisioned system that I can only assume was in their favor not mine. Now...after communicating all of this to customer support, texting the Sales Person whom I would never hear back from and customer support not answering emails and if they did or if I were so lucky to get a call; it was the same old thing, we will talk to the sales person, we will forward the email to the sales person, we are sorry you are going through this experience...we will get this resolved...blah blah blah. I have not seen any action or communication to me on how to get this resolved and that was over a month ago. Remember; I started this project with Semper Solaris in September of 2020 and March 2021 is coming to an end so it's been 7 months and nothing to show for. It has been a complete waste of time filled with frustration and disappointment. I know had I gone with the company I was just about to hire; I would not be in the position I am in today...I have had absolutely nothing done and my neighbors around me who started after me already have panels up and running on their roofs. I'd give 0 stars to Semper Solaris if I could My advice to anyone considering Semper Solaris; I would highly recommend you do your research and find another company...don't make the same mistake I did.

Horrible Company. Their communication skill with the customer are terrible. Nothing but lies, excuses and delays, which lead to several change orders, that leads to thousands of dollars more. My job consisted of new HVAC, new roof , solar and gutters. ($58K to start) Everything up to date was under sold. Which means I had to pay more on their continual mistakes on how to measure properly the first time (now I'm closer to $68K). I expected some change orders, but not on everything. First of all, the workmanship / finish work on the HVAC side of the house was horrendous. But they came back and fixed/repaired the multitude problems. In my experience, nothing but problem after problem with this company, But, I will give 5 stars to the roof installers, extremely hard workers who did a great job, very professional and did the job right the first time. They say they are veteran owned and hire veterans, Not on my job site. If I had a vet on my job site, it would have been done right the first time. Um, that maybe why many of those who were on my job are no longer with the company, umm, makes you wonder. I wonder if the owners know how FUBAR their company is or are they just blind to it all. I say this because my project started over a year ago, and they still are not finished. I think/know Semper Solaris are going though a lot of changes, either by have great employees who see how FUBAR the operations are and thy find jobs else where and by finally firing the FUBAR employee/manager(s). I have several pages of documented problems with my project. Do yourself a favor, shop around. Don't believe their advertisements. There are honest companies out there, just not this one in my opinion.

Buyer beware! This company is not up front with you! Read any details and documentation provided! At first we thought going with a former military company would b giving back to our country as a federal worker of 38+ years, this company is not it! When first talking to the sales rep, we couldn’t get a straight answer for how many panels we should go with. The sales rep lived in Sacramento and did all the drawings and projections over the phone. . After we settled on 20 panels and a price over 25k, we then financed with Sempre Solaris company of choice Wheelhouse credit Union. I was told I “had “ to finance with one of the 80 companies Semper Solaris used. Yes, they use 80 different companies to finance with. There is no 12/18 month interest free nothing to incentivize the consumer. We went with wheelhouse to find out a lien was put on our property! Wheelhouse will not disclose this information verbally. You have to read the fine print. As soon as we found out we paid the entire loan in cash! And now have to wait up to 30 days to have the lien removed from our home! Be careful and do your homework when working with these two companies. If it doesn’t feel right, there is something shady going on. Please do not contact me Sempre Solaris. I called your office multiple times to no avail. I am not seeking anything other than sharing information for consumers to ask questions up front and for legal loan sharks to be up front when acting like they are doing the consumer, a favor, and don’t realize you just signed collateral to your home off and didn’t even know it, until you read the entire loan document, where it is not clear until you call and ask them what a UCC -1 is! So disappointed

Semper Solaris, roofing and solar. Well not so fast. 1. All sub contractors 2. payment up front 3..Roofing guys come out, measure and never inspected the Sky light. The Skylight is the reason for the new roof, it leaks. 4. Old roof removal, with no mention to anyone that the skylight is built into the roof. 5 .new roof is installed, no skylight. "would you like to order one now?" um yes for the second time. 6. weeks later skylight arrives and a guy weighing in at 125lbs has my slight to go on the 2 story house. He enlists the help of the pool guy, (Yes I was having my pool cleaned) to get this skylight on the roof. It must weigh 100 pounds. The skylight almost falls off the roof. I have videos. 7. Roof guy can't do the install. 8. Next day, a new guy shows up, can't do the install, it'd not a 20 minute job. Someone will be out on Monday to install. 9. I called and texted a message to the supervisor on Monday, it is now Tuesday after 3, with no response. 10. Semper Solaris sold my name and number to a tax preparer, that called the day Solar was completed.

We already had solar panels but we wanted a Tesla powerwall for backup . We made the mistake of deciding on Semper Solaris . At first everything went well . We got financing through a credit union they set up for us , Great interest rate no problem there . Then on a Saturday morning my wife got a text that they were coming to install our battery and they would need a check for 9 thousand dollars . When they got here I informed them that they had already been paid . At that point they said they would get it straightened out and be back in a couple of days to install our battery . Over a week went by and no call no nothing . So I called . Explained the situation . I was told they would get back to me the next day . Nothing . A another week went by and I called again . I was told they would get right back to me . Again nothing . I was furious . So I shared my experience in a review and low and behold I received a call the very next day by a very apologetic young lady . She said the earliest they could install was the 21st of December . Then she asked me if I would please remove the review , I told her I would when the job was done . Well I made the mistake of removing the review a day early . Well yesterday I got a call saying their installer had called in sick and they couldn't come out till Saturday . When I told them that wasn't acceptable I got an oh gee we're sorry but that's the best we can do . What I find interesting is that when they thought they were going to get a extra $9,000 from me they sent a crew of 3 out to install . If it wasn't for the fact that they have already received payment from the finance company I would certainly go elsewhere .

It looks like we were able to expedite your installation and get a team out to install your system today. We've relayed your review and your concerns to Rebecca and the team and will have her contact you shortly. Wishing you all the best.

We had our solar panels installed in February and from our very first meeting with Mark I we were very clear that we wanted a system that we could grow into, that is over sized for our needs, and that could eventually enable us to charge an electric vehicle. Shortly after we signed the contract and made a deposit, we received an e-mail stating that we would either need to have an RMA box installed or have our main panel upgraded. The $200 difference was not a factor but Mark recommended we go with the RMA panel, so we went with that option. Firstly, they should have known we needed to upgrade before we even signed a contract as they did an initial inspection and our street has other homes with Semper Solaris installs and the houses are tract and of the same age. We found out in July that we needed another dedicated outlet in our garage to accommodate a new garage door opener. Apparently, we didn't have any space on our panel for even that! After a lot of back and forth with Mark, they have made no attempt to satisfy our needs and so far have only agreed to refund the money for the RMA panel and then we are on our own to get this taken care of! Very unprofessional and that is not acceptable. In speaking to a few neighbors, they all had their panels upgraded and were informed from the beginning that that's what was needed. Bottom line, even though we were very clear about what we wanted they failed to deliver and even after an unexpected additional cost our needs have still not been met, instead they would prefer to brush us off and move on to the next sale. They contacted me after my yelp review and promised to come out to assess the issue. They never came out and have not responded to calls or e-mails.

3 MONTH job turned into a 10 MONTH NIGHTMARE. I wish I was dreaming. But, I couldn't get any sleep because my lights wouldn't turn off after the back-up battery install. After waiting 5 months for install appointment, turns out workers took short cuts and the electrical wires in the attic were crossed causing a fire hazard, switches and outlets were not working all around the house and my HALLWAY LIGHTS WERE STUCK ON in the brightest setting and wouldn't turn off. Thankfully, Michael sent a real electrician to turn them off that night and I worked with wonderful Zerona to fix the problem over the next few days, reason for the one star. In total, we had to spend 4 consecutive unplanned days in the dark before they could fixed the damage. We had to take food to neighbors home, find friends who would let us work at their home hoping noone had COVID19 (this was May 2020 before testing became available) and caused me to miss deadlines for projects at work. They compensated us a little for the bad experience but then lied and said the work was completed so we would pay for the rest of the work. That was in month 7. When I asked how to operate the system, I found the the utility company had not signed off for us to operate and the inverter didnt work. Nothing happened for a month while Semper Solaris kept blaming the utility company for the delay. So I called the utility and they informed me that Semper Solaris submitted the papers 3 times and each time failed to correct one simple mistake. So I contacted Semper Solaris and told them to stop blaming the utility company for delays and fix their mistake. They fixed it and we got approval in just 2 weeks. But the inverter still didnt work. The first crew came and said the inverter couldnt be fixed so it had to be replaced. A brand new inverter was no good!!! The second crew was scheduled and my family made all these arrangements to leave because we were warned the power would be cut off. THEY DON'T SHOW UP OR CALL until the next couple of days wanting to come but we were out of town. Then we get back into town and it takes a month to get someone out to fix it. It wasn't until I started requesting my money back that they started getting serious about finishing because they know they shouldn't have charged me for a broken, unapproved system in the first place. Well that's about half of the nightmare. I woke up to realize that this company for the most part doesn't value our business so I don't need a reply to this review. Keeping my fingers crossed nothing else goes wrong now that the system works. I had 2 neighbors that were seriously interested in solar but they've seen what we went through and are steering clear of Semper Solaris. I hate that I can't recommend a company that I'm signed up with but I'd feel worse if responsible for someone going through half what we went through.

I was excited to go solar. I chose Semper Solaris because it is veteran owned, even though their quote was slightly hire than the other two I received. I started this process in September 2019, and finally in mid-July, I had solar panels with a Tesla Power Wall, The number of missteps and mistakes by Semper Solaris are too many to outline here. Showing up without notice, not showing up when I took days off, not doing things to code the first time, etc. etc. The fact that I was specific about what I needed to have back up power for when my power goes out (critical load, I think they call this) and the fact that only my fridge and some hall lights work when there's a black out is not what I asked for (I've had three blackouts since this was installed). The techs they sent to set this up the first time tried, but their cell phones to communicate didn't get signal here and the yelling back-and-forth to verify if a circuit was on didn't do the job either. Plus, yelling back-and-forth is not professional and totally disruptive when I was trying to teach from home. Equip these guys with some walkies, for goodness sake! I have been trying to get someone out here to fix it. I'm teaching from home, so I can't be without power while they figure things out until 2:30. Well, I'm told they can't come after 2:30 because the work they have to do would run past their regular work hours. This was too much! My system is costing me about $36,000 and they can't stay past 4:30 to do their jobs correctly? Plus, I'm paying more for the panels in addition to what I'm still paying SDG& E than I ever did for a normal monthly electric bill. If you must go solar, just choose another company. My regrets about going solar and for choosing Semper Solaris are so huge. I kick myself every day.

In October, we contracted Semper Solaris to install a Tesla Powerwall 2 at our home. We provided them with all the requested information, access to the property for the design team, and timely sign-off. On February 28, we had an appointment for the installation of the Tesla Powerwall unit. The crew showed up, and after about 30 min of measuring informed us, it was not possible to install the Powerwall where they had recommended it. The team then left again with no further information. Since then, we had no communication from Semper Solaris. We contacted the Sales Rep, Roy S, and our Customer Support Rep, Stephanie M, by email on March 12 but heard nothing. No information, no calls, nothing. We then informed them we were going to cancel the order with immediate effect, and finally heard from another person from Customer Support, Lei‑lua W. However, at this point, we had lost complete confidence in Semper Solaris and their ability to do the work. To say we were disappointed with the service received from Semper Solaris is an understatement. If their values are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage, I think they have not lived up to these values on this job. They get one star for actually refunding us our entire deposit

A friend who claimed a good experience recommended Semper Solaris. After talking with the sales man who I found rather rambling and confusing as he couldn't seem to make a meaningful presentation, we made a deal and got financing. We were given an install date for almost five months later blaming the wait on PG&E and then when the date came, they forgot about it. We have missed any chance for a tax credit. Our financing agreement has expired. And now that we are trying to cancel our agreement, we can't even get them to call us back. It has been a while since I have dealt with a company which is so inept at the basic courtesies and responsibilities of customer management. Since cancelling with them, someone from Semper Solaris gave us a call claiming that changes have been made to avoid this kind of service in the future. It turned out however that he was just calling to ask us to take down this review. Good reviews are earned, Semper Solaris. We have gone solar, but with another company. See my other reviews.

This the WORST company that I have ever dealt with. Nothing but lies, lack of communication, delays, excuses. We have been trying to get our solar up and running for 6 months. We signed our contract 6 months ago. We gave them a HUGE check 5 months ago and today we hit yet another snag with inspection. As usual, their stall techniques, lack of doing what should have been done has caused yet another delay. Our biggest mistake is selecting this company over Sullivan and others who our neighbors chose at the same time we made our bad decision. It is even more frustrating to know that they have had solar for months and our house has a bunch of useless panels that are not in use due to Semper Solaris incompetency. If I had the money, I would start over with a company that tells you the truth, keeps their promises and gets the results without months of frustration, headaches and stall tactics. My best advice to anyone considering this company is DONT make the mistake we did.

My husband is a former Marine and we wanted to support a veterans owned company. Also we had friends who referred us. I am so beyond disappointed in this company. If I could give no stars I would. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THE PROCESS is horrible. We started this process just under three months ago and we still have no solar installed. I have called a number of times and am being told "its the permits" and "the permits had to be re-submitted". But no one will tell me why they had to be re-submitted. I have had other contractors working on my yard for a pool and patio who all had to pull permits and started weeks after we started this solar process and the entire pool project will be done in a week! Yet still no solar! Solar is blaming it on permits, yet all my other contractors had no issues getting permits in a timely fashion. The only good thing I have to say is that the field rep who came out was nice and beyond helpful and is an asset to the company. The people in a ll the departments are nice, but undertrained, and cant really help or give answers. As we got docs sent to us from the various departments the doc u sign was incorrect. They were not sending it to correct emails for signatures, they had both our names as one entire signature. Our names on the contracts were incorrect. I had to ask a number of times for all of that to be corrected. It took alot of time and effort on my part. Information from department to department was different. The amount of calls from the loan part to reverify the same thing over and over is super excessive. I have called to speak to a manager and they say the manager is busy with the business, that they will call back. I have never gotten a call back. So I guess their customers are not a priority in their business. We are just about 3 months in and no solar. And our loan for the solar funded weeks ago. If I could cancel I would .

Hi Cassie, We appreciate your husband's service and want to take care of those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We apologize for the delayed installation and the hold up with the permitting. Unfortunately getting solar permitting is a bit different than that for a pool or patio, with more moving pieces. With that said, I am not sure why your solar permits had to be resubmitted. I would like to look into your account, check the status, and see if we can expedite the process. We will also look into the docusign and contract account information to make sure that all of your contact information is correct as well. We appreciate you complimenting our field rep and including a positive within your review. We will work our darnedest to make this right for you and your husband.

Unhappy customer Poway, CA

This company is outrageously unprofessional. We got our solar through them. First their quote was incorrect and was severely underestimated. We ended up spending nearly $10k more than originally quoted. Next they inspected our roof. They showed up unannounced and we had to bend over backwards to get them access to our house. When they finished the inspection,They said the inspection was good with no issues. Then AGAIN, they showed up unannounced to install the solar. Again, we bent over backwards to give them access. After going up on the roof, the installers said our roof couldn’t be installed on. They missed it in the inspection. So, we had to have our roof repaired before we could install the solar. Again, repairmen for the roof came UNANNOUNCED. When they worked on our roof they left debris all over our yard. We are still finding nails, screws and other rusty items all over our yard where our toddler plays. Ok, now the roof is fixed, installing solar should be scheduled right? Wrong, they show up AGAIN unannounced to install. Each day the installers said I would get an explanation of what was being done and how to operate our system. Nope, zero explanation. Then, AGAIN, Semper Solaris shows up unannounced requesting to inspect the solar so the city can approve it. Again, we allow them to inspect. (They acted as if we were outrageous for wanting them to schedule these appointments so we would be able to be home when these people had access to our garage and roof). So, now we have gotten our solar approved by the city and SDGE to operate our panels and battery but we have no idea how it works, how to turn it on and what things do what... so, we have solar that we paid nearly $40k for that we can’t operate because Semper doesn’t know how to do their jobs. I completely regret ever ever ever going with them. When we complained, they said the reason all this was happening was because they were really overwhelmed with installations and couldn’t manage them all. Be cautious. This company will take your money and not provide any support, professionalism, or courtesy. As of now, we have no idea if our solar even functions...

I am so extremely frustrated with Semper Solaris and sincerely regret choosing them for our solar company. The experience with them has been negative from the get-go. There is zero communication between the office and us, paperwork just sits for a month without any kind of response, my husband's email from last week is still unanswered, and I have no idea when the electricians will return to complete the project. They just randomly show up; we have now had three different people installing our power wall (as far as I can tell, the second person undid some of the work the first person did), the city inspector showed up one day (no one told me) when I wasn't home and therefore couldn't complete the inspection. This has been one giant mess and I have never in my life worked with such an unprofessional organization.

Do not contract with this company, I did and it was a terrible mistake. I am a veteran, this company prides itself on taking care of all veterans who do business with them, but it is not what they delivered. Brian was the sales associate who came to my home and outlined what they could do for my home. He seemed like he cared about concerns, but after I signed, he disappeared completely. Failed to answer my questions about financing, didn't understand what the finance companies terms were. He suggested to wait until Thanksgiving was over and get back in touch. I sent e-mails to him and he never got back to me. A week later after sending another e-mail I finally heard from him, by e-mail. I finally realized that the customer service through this company is horrible. I finally called him to tell him to stop all work on 11/30. It is 12/10 and have not heard from anyone at Semper Solaris, and thats after contacting the main office in Hayward twice! Finally on Dec. 19 I received a call from their call center apologizing for their poor customer service and a promise to refund my initial deposit, but I never heard from anyone in management, very strange! The founders of Semper Solaris I think would be embarrassed by the in-actions of the Hayward office. If you are thinking of spending thousands of your hard working dollars on solar to improve your home, save money, and to go green, do not go with Semper Solaris. Customer service is the key for anyone trying to have work done on their home, and this company is a zero on taking care of clients, especially a veteran. My suggestion would be to go with any other company, they have to be better than Semper Solaris. Hope this helps you make a solid decision, don't make the same mistake I did!

The job took roughly 7 mos. Semper lost the plans to my job. They had to move the panel 2x. NO communication AT ALL! To turn the system on, I had to look it up on youtube because Semper wouldn't call me back. they're still not completely done. They had to fill a bunch of holes on the side of my house with caulking because of moving the panel then moving it again. just wiating for them to come back and paint the holes. Also, the roofers left a bunch of extra shingles and metal after I asked them to take it with them. Overall, semper solaris Bakersfield (Jay L.) has the absolute worst customer service! I only hired them because Im a USMC Veteran and there military ethos. Big mistake hiring semper solaris!

I would not recommend Semper Solaris for solar as their customer service is horrible. The salesman will say anything but once you sign that contract they stop treating you like a valued customer. Be careful about trusting/reading reviews, especially on social media, as they will delete anything negative then block users from posting their experience with the company. Company is actively removing negative information about their company to make them seem better than they actually are. I went with Semper based on their online reviews almost all of which were positive. As a veteran and family of vets, I liked the idea of a company that works with military/ex-military although this just seems to be a marketing ploy as they didn’t work well with this vet. They heavily advertise as military/veteran oriented but their company values and work ethic are far from anything taught in the military. The salesman was nice and worked with me in getting the system setup and designed. Once I signed the contract, the communication from Semper basically stopped. I was assigned a project manager that would not respond to anything. I asked a question regarding placement of panels that differed from the original layout provided (panels are set under a tree so they get shade for a few extra hours a day). The project manager never responded. After not hearing back I contacted the salesman regarding the change. She stated that she reviewed it with the engineers and the placement wouldn’t change the output of the system (this was a lie as the output from those panels are about 20% less than similarly positioned panels) The project moved slowly from there with my only contact being an occasional generic email from a random person at Semper that wasn’t specific to my project. At this point I sent complaint regarding the lack of communication to their headquarters staff. After my complaint to HQ I finally received a call to inform me when they were going to be installing (not to schedule a time that worked for me, they just told me when they were coming). Based on the timing and the attitude I got from the representative, I believe I only got this call because of the complaint. Otherwise my project might still be sitting around waiting for someone to work on it. Install went okay and the crew got most everything done the first day. One tech did come out the following day to finish up. He wasn’t able to get the system activated and said he would have to come out the next day. He never showed up or called. I called customer service to follow up and the representative said they would find out what was going on and call me back. They never did. Tried to call the project manager but I was never given her contact information. Got hold of a rep via email and she called me back. Relayed the information to her and she said she would look into it and call me back. She never did call back and the tech never showed up. After a few days of not hearing back from anyone I finally got a call from someone that said the issue was likely as bad invertor and that they would have a tech out to check everything and that they would be bringing a spare invertor. Tech showed up and did not bring the replacement inverter (I guess they don’t communicate internally either). He did return and got the invertor installed and the system working. That wasn’t the end of my horrible ordeal with Semper. The final stage was setting up system monitoring. Spent the next 2 weeks trying to get the information so I could set this up. I even had the manager of the local branch in the emails but no one ever responded. After receiving no response I was able to get a number for the monitoring department. The tech informed me that there was an issue with the internet signal. I informed them that this was an issue with my ISP and that I had a call in to them. He then informed me that they would send a tech out. I asked why they needed to send a tech when the issue was on my end. When the tech showed up I told him that the issue was with my ISP not them and that I wasn’t sure why he was there. He was able to get the monitoring setup for my system. For the cost of solar you would think that the company would try and work with their customer and try to communicate with them. I guess once the contract is signed they know they can’t back out so they just ignore their customers and work at your own pace. As most solar companies offer panels from the same manufactures the only real difference is customer service. You are also stuck with the same company for 25 years since they cover the warranties. Everyone should do their research and find a company that ACTUALLY want’s your business and won’t just ignore you once they have your money. Semper’s prices were higher than most competitors and I was hoping this would reflect in better service which they most defiantly do not give.

I have had my panels running for over 2 years, no problems at all. The local utility company blocked going online by changing the rules, but Semper made it right.

Easy process because all the reps are readily available to answer questions and walk you thru the process. They worked around our schedule and it was convenient.

A complete nightmare! I now have a lean on my home, may not be eligible for the 26% tax credit because I get a rebate at the end of the year and am going to be paying a solar bill and pg&e bill until my system can go online. Not the way I wanted to start my new year. Learn from my expensive mistake and don't put your family in jeopardy with these people. Dirty rotten slimy weezles.

Hi Louie, the terms of the SGIP rebate are set by the state of California, not by Semper Solaris. If certain SGIP rebates are chosen, it may affect the eligibility to take the ITC federal tax credit as well. Also, every utility customer is responsible to pay their electric bill leading up to installation and Permission to Operate from the utility company, and will continue to be responsible for the true-up bill at the end of their true-up year. We would like to discuss your project and terms, help clarify any misunderstandings, and also get you prepared for your future with a solar energy system. Our team will be contacting you to go over the details. Wishing you all the best.

Purchased solar system and everything went well till I had a problem. They dont return calls and when they finally did they said they would look into the problem and call me back within 2 days. Still waiting after a week.will not answer my emails. Originally said the problem was a micro inverter that had to be replaced. They told me they ordered the parts and keep me informed of the status It's been 7 weeks and not a word. Beware.......

I purchased a system from Semper Solaris in 2017 and deeply regret it. Read your contract (watch out for the Arbitration Clause!) carefully and make sure you have everything in writing. Make no assumptions and take notes of every question you ask your sales rep. Write down their answers and have them sign it. Might help save you a year of back and forth ending with a unilateral: "...this matter is closed and there is no further need for correspondence on this matter...".
