The Good

  • High Quality Products
  • Simple Installation Process
  • Several Payment Options

High Quality Products

RevoluSun chooses to use only the most efficient and highest quality products made by reliable manufacturing partners.  For example, the company carries the world's most powerful and efficient solar modules made by SunPower.  Additionally, RevoluSun only works with highly trained professional tradespeople and employs several NABCEP certified project managers.

Simple Installation Process

RevoluSun offers a simple installation process that starts with a free home energy evaluation. After that, the customer will have the opportunity to pick and choose the elements they want for their unique solar set-up.  RevoluSun will provide an easy-to-understand proposal with no hidden fees and then have its engineers design the system and prepare the necessary construction documents.  Once the installation has been scheduled, RevoluSun will work with the local utility companies, permitting organizations, and inspectors to provide its customers with a fully operational and safe solar installation.

Several Payment Options

RevoluSun provides its customers with several payment options to choose from, including outright purchase, interest-free and low-interest loans, solar leases, and power purchase agreements (PPAs). Leases include zero money down for qualifying individuals; a 20-year agreement that covers monitoring, repairs, and insurance; and a locked-in rate for the life of the agreement.

The Bad

  • Negative Customer Reviews
  • Only Two Locations
  • Very Little Information on Company Website

Negative Customer Reviews

RevoluSun's Massachusetts location has a stellar reputation and we couldn't find anything negative about its services online.  However, if you live in the Hawaii service area, you might want to proceed with caution; there are some negative reports on online public forums accusing RevoluSun's Hawaii location of poor customer service, shoddy workmanship, payment issues, and process delays over the span of 2013 to 2015.

Only Two Locations

RevoluSun only services two states, Massachusetts and Hawaii, which is low compared to other top companies in the industry.  We see that the company is attempting to branch out with franchising, so hopefully RevoluSun will be available in more states in the near future.

Very Little Information on Company Website

RevoluSun's website contains very little detailed information. While it does give snippets of information about the process, we don't feel that it's enough to help customers make an educated decision about whether or not they would like to do business with the company. For example, what warranties does RevoluSun offer? Is system monitoring available? These questions cannot be answered simply by looking at the company's website, which can be frustrating for potential customers who would like to learn more.

The Bottom Line

RevoluSun is available in Hawaii and Massachusetts and appears to be a reputable company. Although its website is not very transparent, RevoluSun does offer high quality SunPower products and several financing options. If you are on the hunt for a solar provider and live in the company's service area, RevoluSun should definitely be on your radar.

I went with RevoluSun primarily due to their consistently high ratings on review sites and the BBB. They were not the lowest price. However, the lowest price vendor had aweful ratings and very poor BBB reviews. I’m happy with RevoluSun’s price. I had a Zoom sales meeting in late February and the panel was turned on in July. A large reason for the five-month delay was town and power company inspections. I was told these delays are expected ahead of time, so no surprise. The steps involved included getting aerial surveillance, plans for the job, checking roof stability, electricians, and as mentioned before inspections, inspections, inspections, and more inspections. The actual installation was done in two mornings, clean and without any issues. I only have the highest regard for the RevoluSun people involved. Pros: Work was done without any problems. My first electrical bill was $5, the next two were around $20. Not $250. I believe them when they said the panels should be paid off in 6 years. I believe my total cost (after tax rebates) will be about $10,000. Cons: I reviewed the contract very carefully and found a number of flaws (e.g., missing guarantee for the panels’ life, some damage exclusions made no sense). I’m no lawyer, but it pays to read the ‘fine’ print. They approved my revisions. The final visit and review of the app was originally scheduled as a Zoom meeting. There were enough details (e.g., what the 3 indoor and 2 outdoor switches do – and what I need to do in an emergency, the app showing electrical savings, review of the power company’s 3 most recent bills) that I strongly suggest it be a person-to-person meeting. The project manager sent four emails trying to get it to be a Zoom meeting. I was able to get a vice president to explain the system. A very, very good 1-to-1 meeting.

I live in Massachusetts and after looking into many companies I chose RevoluSUN. I am happy with my system which is rated at 13.8 MWh. I chose RevoluSUN because they use the best panel based on the standardized testing. These panels are smaller in size (area) than that of other mfrs., and yet they produce more power (more power / area/panel). This enable me to get more panels onto my roofs and therefore I can generate more power and earn more SRECs. The panels also have better efficiency over the life time than other panels used by other companies. If I have to do it again I would still choose RevoluSUN. (10/10).

My Husband and I installed solar with RevoluSun 2 years ago and could not be happier. RevoluSun showed us all the options available and were extremely transparent. As it stands now, the system is exceeding our expectations and we are really excited with how much money we are saving

Property Damage and Theft Upon panel installation we had a power tool stolen from our garage. I noticed immediately and asked the laborers if they grabbed it by chance, no one fessed up. Contacted the project manager and he deflected the entire situation. Shortly after the install was complete we noticed water POURING THOUGH OUR ROOF. The solar guys broke our skylight, dragged the panels across our roof ripping shingles and leaving markings, and drilled 8 holes straight through our roof and never bothered to patch them up. Getting the company to take accountability and make this right is like pulling teeth. I have yet to be reimbursed for the power tool and my sky light is still broken with no replacement in sight. It has been over 6 months now trying to make them do the right thing. My entire project and experience with revolution was unprofessional, lacked accountability, and some of the worst communication skills I have ever dealt. My panels were installed Aug 2019 and it took SIX MONTHS to get it turned on. Why? I too asked this question and got a different answer each time. Electrical wire missing, submitting helco documents inaccurately. At one point I had to request weekly updates because the communication was so bad and we were so behind. My request was met with animosity. My solar deal was with sunnova and to my understanding they no longer work with Revolusun due to a LACK IN PERFORMANCE.

from initial consultation through installation I was extremely happy. They even followed up after the job was complete to make sure everything was to my satisfaction.
