They were recently recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of the “Best Places to Work 2014”. They also received a “Social Media Monitoring Implementation Award” in 2014 by Wommy.

The Good

  • No contracts
  • Features
  • Recognitions
  • Payment options
  • Mobile app

Customers can switch plans at any time. Even if a customer doesn't feel like they made the right pick during their 30 day free trial, they can switch during the trial. There are no contracts or commitments; each plan is billed month to month. Also, each of their plans comes with a 30 day, no obligation, free trial. No credit card information is required to sign up.

Sprout Social has a myriad of extra features available within each plan. They offer a Smart Inbox feature that allows all social media messages and notifications to all go to one place. They also offer brand keyword monitoring, Zendesk, UserVoice, and Salesforce integrations, customizable contact records, full Twitter conversation histories, team calendar of scheduled content, ViralPost abilities, ability to short links, ability to attach photos to all posts, unlimited presentation-ready reports that can be exported to CSV and PDF formats, message level audit trails, live activity updates, and more.

They've received the following recognitions:

  • Startup of the Year 2014 - Built in Chicago's Moxie Awards
  • Best Places to Work 2014 - Crain's Chicago Business
  • Social Media Monitoring Implementation Award 2014 - Wommy

PayPal is a payment option as well as all major credit cards. There are also prepayment options for larger plans.

Sprout Social offers a fairly well-rated mobile app for both Android and iOS. Their Android app was rated 4 out of 5 stars while iOS was 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The Bad

  • Expensive
  • Platform limitations
  • Low ratings for app
  • Account limits

Their biggest downfall is how expensive they are. Their prices are quite a bit higher than most of their competitors'. They also do not provide a free option for individuals; they only cater to companies and agencies.

Unlike some of their competitors, they do not offer the option to connect to Instagram, YouTube, Foursquare, Flickr, Tumblr, and a few others social media platforms.

Although it is a positive that Sprout Social offers a mobile app for both Android and iOS, there are very few reviews and ratings for both.

The highest amount of accounts you can connect to your Sprout Social profile is 30. Some of their competitors allow upwards of 100, and at a lower price.

The Bottom Line

Sprout Social has received some impressive recognition in the social media management industry. They are a good option for consumers who have an unlimited budget - they are pretty expensive. They do offer several invaluable features that most of their competitors do not, but it definitely comes at a high price. However, their 30 day free trial is definitely a bonus. We suggest trying out their 30 day free trial for one of their plans that would fit your circumstances; and if you absolutely love their services, they may be worth your time.
