Homeowners have the option of monitoring, surveilling, and controlling their home from their smartphones through Vivint’s mobile app.

The Vivint Smart Home mobile app allows users to have complete control over their homes (even if they're traveling across the country). Homeowners can see who's at their door with the doorbell camera, unlock the door for delivery people, and customize specific actions such as having the front and back door automatically lock at 11 P.M. every night.

Indoor/Outdoor Cameras

Vivint has an indoor camera and an outdoor camera that you can choose from. The indoor Ping Camera includes two-way communication and a one-touch callout button that gives your home a line of communication to your smartphone. This way, you can check in on your home and your family through the Vivint app and Ping Camera. 

Vivint’s Outdoor Camera Pro includes two-way talk, hybrid wired Wi-Fi connection, a wide-angle lens with night vision, and HD video and zoom capabilities.

Vivint also has a doorbell camera option that includes Smart Visitor Detection that alerts you whenever someone comes to your door. Its technology is also programmed to ignore other unimportant movements, such as a car passing by. Through Vivint’s app, you can access live footage and speak to your visitors with two-way talk.

I like what the system is designed to do. I dont like the fact that I'm continuing to have issues with Vivint's smart hub tablet. Also I had a nest thermostat purchased through them and installed. It failed this spring and I spent 90+ minutes on the phone with customer service for them only to tell me that I have to go through nest to get it replaced because they no longer use or support the nest thermostats they had sold me when I got the system installed

We have had a major problem with our Heating & Air due to the Vivint thermostat being wired incorrectly. We couldn’t get much heat during the winter and it ran as “Emergency” heat and doubled our electric bill. We are waiting on someone to call regarding the situation. Customer service in The Philippines said someone would call, but no one has called.

I had no idea that the young lady put batteries in the doors. It said that the batteries are low. I figured it out and took the batteries out and went to the battery + store. I bought new ones and installed it. It still read low. I took the battery out and went back they tested it and it was fine. It takes pictures and then you can no see the picture later. I did better with my old system. The installer didn't give a good explanation about how the new system that she installed. I am older and I had to figure out what to do. If it worked properly then I would have given it a better grade. I did call customer service, however I ended up having to call back cause the thing was offline. It's just a lot.

Salesman did not follow through on our request to have original thermostats put back; installation of a keypad in the master bedroom was sloppy leaving a hole. Asked that it be fixed with a previous review provided, no one followed through and fixed the hole. Backyard camera keeps sending alerts when a bug or bird flies by or if it's raining. Also, unit that's plugged in for this camera keeps switching from blue to red to blue. The same unit in the garage does not do this. Cannot program thermostat installed to switch from sleep temp to wake-up temp at a specific time (our original thermostats had that feature; again they were not put back as requested)

Never recieved the DVR I was told I could get to fix the ongoing pauses in the videos my systems keeps going offline and when I go to see who is at my house live the lag is so bad by the time I see whats going on the person is gone. The system freezes quite a bit when you go to look from your phone wish the quality was what I was told it was not sure what you can do to fix this problem.

Equipment works ok. Customer Service not the best. Was not informed that a loan would be taken out at the bank for the equipment. It was my understanding that we would be renting the equipment from Vivint. Now that we would like to discontinue our services with Vivint, that is not possible due to the bank loan we only recently discovered. We were never even given the option to purchase the equipment outright. Not a good judgement call on the part of the seller.

The cameras were placed in such a way that there are blind spots. The cameras are not as nice as the demo led me to believe they would be. I cannot hear the doorbell unless I am in the room next to the door. The technician disconnected my old door bell and removed parts from it, so I cannot switch back.

The cameras don’t work majority of the time. They are constantly going off when no one is even around. They forget where the place shipped packages to them, and harass you for 4 months saying you owe a huge bill because you didn’t return items. Then they find it and offer you a lazy $15 off for a month for them harassing you for several months. Then they lie about giving you items for free because they don’t put it in the system. So you get played.

After talking to a supervisor they wanted to charge me to have a tech come out and fix my equipment and getting it working. As far the equipment is concern I have some issues with the wifi. You sent me a new router but I am not sure is working. Instead, you should offer fixing the problem in house. I am also upset because when I signed in with you been referred by my wife, I was told that I would get a credit for 200.00 for me and other 200 for my wife for the referral.

Vivint has had incredible customer service over the last two years of our contract. We have loved their home automation and security services. Whenever an issue has come up, they have sent a technician to fix it at no additional cost to us. Although they may be a little more expensive than some competitors, the service we have received has been worth the price.

Customer service in the Philippines is socks, seems like they don't know what their doing or they don't do their job properly. They don't give you a last name of the person you spoke too. It says to protect thier identity. And they keep passing me to different person. It's very frustratin and waiting for longer period of minutes, one person cut off the line and did not call back. They were not upfront at all about costs. When I tried to get breakdown, I was told one thing from one representative, then another thing by a different representative. Customer service was awful. I’d be told they were doing one thing, then follow up and be told another thing by someone else.

Faulty devices with poor customer service when experiencing issues. When I called back to remedy a problem I have to go through the same script to explain the problem again. Now they are asking to climb a ladder to reset the faulty camera or I can pay for a technician to repair the problem.

The app used to work fine, but recent updates have rendered it almost useless. You can't view live stream on the cams, you can't change the mode of the thermostats, and there are times that the garage door opener doesn't work. What is the point of having a state of the art security system that doesn't work?

Terrible. People who did “installations” were very rude and unprofessional. Let’s holes in my wall and said “you can patch it with putty.” Didn't ever install monitor on the wall or get a sign for my yard. Nest doesn’t work properly.

Terrible installation choices , sensor is pointing at window so the motion is activated by cars , completely skips people walking in front of the sensor , I find the camera sub par compared to make smart cameras I have used like circle camera, ring camera, Amazon cameras, and more.

I had a pre existing system in a house I purchasrd. I wanted to use Vivint and reactivate the system. I was impressed that the upgrade was done the same day I signed on( they came that evening). However, I wasn’t given a book or steps to become comfortable with the system. Since I didn’t have WiFi I was told that I wouldn’t have camera access until I have WiFi. I would have to connect the power box with the internet. There wasn’t any possibility for the technicians to come back and ensure the proper function and operation. The company required a credit check to be approved for the system. If you experience a problem you have to go online and wait for a chat with a rep. You can’t buy additional sensors after you sign the contract. That has to be built into the contract. So you would have to redo the contract adding that. So far poor customer support considering the monthly cost and the fact you have a contract.

System works well, most of the time. Their integrations with Google Home could be significantly improved. Sometimes we get phantom notifications for things like open doors when in fact it's open. I wouldn't generally recommend for apartments.

Amazing. I love that whenever someone goes out the door I get a notice. I love that when someone is lurking in front of my house I get a notice on my phone. I love how I can speak through my phone to my outside cameras and warn someone off (or just tell my kids to come inside!)

I don't like anything about it! The customer service farmed out to other countries and the equipment not working after repeatedly calling to have to have fixed. The hours spent on the phone trying to get assistance

Don't like that my camera doesn't advise my phone all the time. Nor does it whistle when I pass by. They broke into my truck wich was parked right under the camera and I didn't get notified

I got scammed by Vivint sale man name Blake M. He told me to do trial 1 month then after one month, I can cancel if I don't like it. So I try to cancel and he is not responding. Even customer service could not reach out to him.. When I called customer service they said too late to cancel .. Now I am stuck with 60 months contract that I don't want to do. If you want to cancel you will have to pay 30 months for early cancellation. I pretty sure most people stick with Vivint is not because of theyvlike it..it is because of they got scammed and stuck with 60 months contract. I will tell all my frds, everybody I know and please passed this to everyone.

From the moment I got the system the thermostat never worked right I spent 72 hours without AC because their thermostat blew out my condenser in my AC unit they were unwilling to send somebody out the next day to look at it I spent 72 hours without AC I can’t do that they gave me credit but that doesn’t do me any good they were finally able to get somebody out and he replaced it he said it’s the AC units company problem I called them out they said it had blown because it was the wrong part, so I am stuck paying for a part for my AC unit that this company’s thermostat blew out they will not let me out of my contract they are horrible. I will never use them again

Don't believe it they're great to charge you there are great to sell you they are terrible customer supprort. I've had multiple issues and I have any even had the system for a year they've had to replace in the door twice now the 2nd AC sensor is not working 7 window sensors on working in they yet Have not fixed it. 1 I an appointment with schedule then someone cancel that and now they want me to go through the whole process again and pay $49 a complete rip off because they have record of the hour and a 1/2 I wasted troubleshooting the problem.

Sales representative mislead with products company haven’t offer over a year even do it is in the company website and sales representative sales display. Original appointment reschedule by sales representative with not my consent which then the technicians arrive 3 hours late and then left my house at 12am with a incomplete installation . Then I was told I have to reaschdule to complete installation for the following weekend which it is out of the question since leaving town on vacation and house not protected. Will not recommended this company poor customer service, deceptive sales practice. I also was advice of no contract but upon reading fine print I discover a 5 year contract.

We have had their equipment and monitoring for 42 months. Recently I had an issue and they needed a technician to come out and go through my system. after three failed attempts and many lost hrs. You know what. I am going to cut this short, they have lied to me, made promises they haven’t kept, duped my wife into extending our contract, still haven’t gotten a tech to come out to fix the issue,. I’m pissed and would switch if I wasn’t still under contract, actually I may buy out the contract and switch anyways. I would not recommend this company at all. Again, I would not and never will recommend this company to anyone. The customer service is unforgivably horrible. Lots of so sorry’s but No action.

My wife and I have been Vivint customers from 2012 until tonight. We have referred them to many people and have never really encountered a problem until tonight. We are moving my elderly mother in with us and were in the process of canceling her account when the operator told her that she would need to pay $800.00 to cancel her 5 year agreement. She had another option to try and sell her equipment to another poor soul and have them take over the remaining time left. Funny thing is the contract we have a copy of says 24 months and should be about to expire. I called vivint tonight on my moms behalf and tried to reason with them. I asked why would every other person we referred, along with us be offered a 24 month package and then try to screw over an elderly widow with a five year contract? They didn't have a good answer. They gave me three different expiration dates during the duration of my call but none of them matched what was on her written contract. So to make things easier I had them look up my account and had them verify that my contract was up. They did. I told them to cancel my contract and that we would move my mother's service over. Easy right? Nope! They were willing to do this but wanted to charge $100 to send a technician out to move her equipment. I explained that wasn't necessary because we already had it hooked up. They said that he still had to come out and change the name over. I laughed because they can talk to you through the system, they can turn your alarm off from their office, but they cannot change the name on the bill without coming out???? I did not agree with the charge, canceled my membership, and told them to please charge my mom the $800. I am going to pursue this ridiculousness with all that I have. This is a total joke of a company, full of crooks and unethical selling tactics. I'm sending my contract to my attorney the first time I am contacted about this charge. I promised the salesperson on the phone that I would be as vocal as possible to every ear I could find and let people know what this company is all about. Here's to the beginning of a long night. I've just begun. #vivintsmarthome
