In August 2014, Changepoint, a Toronto-based company that builds professional services automation software, acquired Daptiv. They offer Daptiv PPM, Changepoint PSA, and barometerIT. Daptiv makes managing files easy for its users. The platform contains a unique feature called DeskDocs. This allows uses to move any file to this folder on their computer to be automatically synced with the platform. The document can then be found under the Documents tab of the project. Users can then attach it to a task, make comments, or move it to another folder. Any changes made are saved and stored as a separate version, and users can view all past versions of the document whenever necessary.

Project managers can closely monitor resource allocation through a host of tools provided by the company. These include resource load charts and user role assignments. Resource managers can also approve, partially fulfill, or decline requests regarding particular resources. Project managers can match supply-to demand, perform what-if analyses, track physical assets, and more.

The chart updates work completion percentages automatically and notifies team members immediately of the alterations.

Because the software has a considerable learning curve for new users, the company provides its customers with a vast array of support material, including case studies, white papers, webinars, videos, and blogs. The company also provides 24/7 phone and email support. However, the company does not offer live chat.

Tasks cannot be set to repeat on a weekly basis and you can create new tasks via email. Tasks cannot be assigned to a temporary resource as a placeholder in order to determine resource needs for future tasks. Daptiv can handle agile methodologies, but it lacks a clear product backlog that is essential for product development. Team members cannot create and share notes within the confines of a project. The platform also does not contain white boards or wikis for brainstorming collaboration. Files cannot be stored in the platform or through the integration of a third-party application. There is no built-in time tracking capabilities. The company does not provide an on-premise version. Clients who want to control their own storage capabilities and security may want to seek another project management solution option that provides these functions. The company has also not developed social media tools that much of the modern project management market currently demands.

It can take up to a week for a new user to get access to the newly purchased software. There are minor areas that can be improved such as task management scheduling, time tracking capabilities, user/client reports, and third-party integrations. The company has 18+ years in the industry, so it appears that the company can be reliable in its offerings.
