One of the only complaints against the POS system is that Lightspeed eCom doesn't integrate as easily with all available extensions. Overall, customers are happy with how robust (but easy to navigate) the system is and Lightspeed's 24/7 customer service representatives who were praised for their knowledge and friendliness.
Lightspeed systems have a higher monthly fee when compared to other point of sale software companies. It is around $69 per month, but can vary depending on which point of sale program you purchase. The $69 monthly retail plan includes one register, up to five employee capabilities, personal on-boarding, free automatic updates, and other basic tasks. The basic package may not provide the volume of hardware and integrations needed by a medium or large retail business. As such, it could become quite costly to invest in bigger packages for these larger retail businesses.
Unfortunately, Lightspeed has a few feature limitations such as weight scale integration, expiry date tracking, and fractional quantity tracking. Because of these limitations, Lightspeed is not a good fit for the following business types:
Lightspeed is definitely a full-service POS, not a barebones "budget" choice. That said, it is powerful and has the best support, both from a sales and tech level. I'm looking forward to more integrations, such as Lightspeed Payments, to make the system even more powerful.
Easy to set up. Do not be intimidated even if you are not tech savvy. You will end up wondering how you ever lived without it. I have recommended this POS system to many friends that have retail stores and they are all thrilled with it and thankful for the suggestion!

We are a retail and repair shop that has 1 location. We were looking at a way of integrating our online inventory to our retail, so our inventory can be managed. There are very few things we would change about this platform. Its nice that as the company develops, they listen to customers needs and make relevant changes based on that. It's almost a 1 stop shop for being able to run a successful business. Pros:- ecom and retail link seamlessly -open and close cashes easy for staff -each staff has own login to track sales progress and customers - can limit staffs access to certain tabs that are irrelevant -painlessly easy to submit orders, and create new product -can easily provide quotes for potential customers -easy to do inventory checks from your cell phone, great for purchasing at trade shows or counting stock in warehouse. Cons: -Limited integrated payments -Limited ways to get content linked to other selling platforms -Blog -doesn't do penny rounding for cash sales (canada doesn't use pennies) - creating a work order- we cannot add or remove tabs that show on work orders -system crashes during work hours, (bugs in system) approx every 3 months, which means we have to use manual receipts and cash only.
I run two children's toy stores and we have used Lightspeed for 7 years! It has made a tremendous difference in our ability to transfer merchandise between the two stores, compare inventory and sales levels, and order product at shows with the cloud based POS! Their tech support is AMAZING and if they can't figure something out right away they are very quick to respond when they do figure it out (I've only had to wait 24hrs max).
Our retail store has been using Lightspeed for 5 years and we just renewed our contract. We are very happy with it and see it helps us grow sales, manage inventory, accounting, customer relations, generating sales reports and placing orders. Their customer service is excellent. It is easy to get a hold of a REAL person and I have never had a problem they can’t help to efficiently and quickly solve.
Although difficult initially to set up, it's worked amazingly well and the customer service is exceptional and well-educated! The cloud storage of data and ease of disseminating data is 1st rate.
I have used Lightspeed in a bike shop and it has been absolutely key to success. The ability to use a POS from anywhere, on most platforms is amazing. Support is also a key, and they have been great. Super stable, in 2 years there have only been 2 times the server went down, and both were fixed in under 10 minutes. We have 4 stores, and with a shared inventory, it has made things simpler. Lot's of small customizable menu's gives a range of flexibility. Some con's, to make this a honest review. 1. Building a Special order, and transferring it, is clunky, and hard to train staff on. It works, but could use some streamlining. 2. It uses a shared search, for all of the different tabs. So if you are trying to search for a just a labor type, you have to select labor, every line. Still works, just clunky. 3. Lastly, if you sell an item, not in inventory, there is only a yellow warning, at the top of the screen. would be better if it had a "are you sure" and a red warning. I've worked with several POS systems over more than 15 years in retail and hospitality. Lightspeed is intuitive, easy to use and powerful enough to handle everything my business needs. The system was in place when we recently purchased a new location; Lauren and the support team have worked tirelessly to ensure a seamless transition. I have yet to run into an issue I can't figure out quickly, or get an answer to instantly. So far, I am incredibly pleased with both the product and the people behind the scenes.
Hands down one of the most efficient, effective and user-friendly Retail POS systems we’ve ever worked with! The LightSpeed team made our switchover to them and setup happen with ease. Their system is cost friendly, reliable and aesthetically pleasing. Training new staff on the system is a breeze. The reporting options are so helpful for close out financials, ordering, staff hours, etc. I can’t speak highly enough about their customer service. It is unlike any support I’ve ever experienced. They not only have the incredible chat feature, but their personable phone support team works with you with such patience and understanding of your issue and walks you through the solution. been with lightspeed for 7 years now. they have great customer service. i really appreciate how easy it is to set up and configure and change while on the fly. i can customize my cash register and this greatly speeds up checkout. we are a small retail store and kayak rental business and lightspeed handles all of our over the counter transactions as well as our phone in reservation charges. I like that i can use it on any computer/phone/tablet and not just ipad like other systems. this is great for us as we are tough on the equipment in this harsh saltwater environment in which we operate.

While Lightspeed eCom doesn’t integrate as easily with all available extensions, I like the back office customization of eCom and customer service is generally great and responsive. On the Retail side, the interface, inventory system and basic reporting have worked well for me for the past 5 years.
I own a pet supply retail store and grooming salon and have been using Lightspeed since 2015. Lightspeed has consistently exceeded my expectations and become an integral part of our operations. The customer service is amazing when we have questions or need guidance on any aspect of the system. The cloud-based retail system gives me visibility of sales, inventory, and reporting anywhere that I have internet access. I love the flexibility of Lightspeed as it offers a multitude of integrations and options for expanding programs to our customers. We use their gift card and customer loyalty integrations every day. Lightspeed Analytics are an add-on to the price of the standard POS but it's worth every penny! It's like having an analyst crunching numbers for you but for a fraction of the price. 100% recommend.
LightSpeed is the best thing that ever happened to our facility. It does most of the work for you example calculation of sales of each individual product also we use to have to run a month end reports on different sheets of paper, now we can go to category and print our month end report. If there's a problem with light speed it's fixed in a very timely manner. Love LightSpeed
I have been using Lightspeed at my retail brick and mortar business for two years. I have used other POS systems that caused me such problems. Lightspeed is different and the best out there for your money. It has incredible reporting capabilities which is such a time saver for me and my accounting team. Whenever I do have an issue, Lightspeed's 24 hour help line is always available to fix anything that might be going on. It is rare though . . . Usually it runs perfectly for months on end. During events and the holiday season when I am very busy, it has never failed me.
Lightspeed is very intuitive and easy to learn. Keeps accurate inventory. Creating purchase orders and receiving inventory is fast and simple. Less chance for error using printed labels upon receiving, and scanners at the register. Takes less time to check out a customer.

We've been using Lightspeed for just over a year at Club Social Le Scaphandre (Diving Bell) and it has been amazing. After using so many inefficient systems, Lightspeed has been the best for running the bar efficiently. The iPad is familiar, wireless, and the interface is super simple to use. Using their service has improved the operations for all aspects of the bar. Highly recommend!

We have been using this product for over 10 years. We find it a perfect fit for our retail and service shop. We used OnSite for years, but wanted to have a E-Com Site, so we upgraded to Cloud base. The integration to the new improved Lightspeed was seamless. What blows me out of the water is the customer support with the system. Support from simple chat features to telephone support. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. If they dont have a solution for at that moment, they will find it for you. Customer Service is so important and Lightspeed dose not fail in that category. The integration from retail to E-com is amazing to. We love that we can build a website and be fully functional in no time. Would be lost if we didnt have Lightspeed as our POS and E-com application.

We moved over to Lightspeed about 2 years ago and have been very happy. Remote access via the cloud has been indispensable. Support is always very helpful when we've had a problem or question and features are always being added and improved.
One of my favourite things about this system that sets it apart from others I have used is the ability to work remotely. I can log onto this program on my personal computer and stay in touch with my store and do work even when I am not physically there. They offer 24-hour customer assistance and all team members are highly responsive. I have also found that they have a large number of videos that help you learn the software and self-train if any questions come up when trying to navigate the system at first. That being said, the system is extremely user-friendly and easy to navigate. This is the 3rd POS system I have used and the best one by far! I wish I had made the switch years ago!
We use the e-com from Lightspeed and our experience has been fantastic. We compared it with their competitor, and I found it much easier the set up. Adding a new product, making it visible or invisible, it's easy and quick. The system itself is made for beginners or pros. I find the cost reasonable, when you think that we can have our products around the planet.

Lightspeed is incredibly user-friendly. All our staff members were working it easily in no time. The support team responds quickly to any question we've had. The ability to customize parts of the intake screen for our particular retail business has been great--from entering inventory, tracking vendors, generating sales reports, being able to easily track our growth, to customizing the information we gather from our customers. Lightspeed has been a seamless partner from our opening with sales of 20K per month to five times that now.
Lightspeed is super user friendly with top notch customer support. The only issue I have had with it is to change the price of a product made through a matrix you have to go to three different places to change the price in order for it to take effect which is tedious and time consuming. This has been brought to Lightspeed's attention and hopefully a fix is in the works. Other than that we have had no issues and love how Retail works seamlessly with eCom to keep inventory levels accurate.
Our business had been searching for a POS system that was able to handle the huge inventory that we have in addition to the large number of clients that we take care of on a daily basis. We’d tried a few in the past but with one thing or another they just didn’t suit the purpose that we needed. Either the inventory management was lacking or the user-friendliness required to streamline our sales was. Enter Lightspeed. First of all the import of data from our old system to the new was almost flawless and the minor issues we did have were taken care of by a member of their excellent support staff almost as quickly as the issues presented themselves. The inventory management part of the POS is amazing. Not only is it incredibly accurate it’s also super easy to navigate! I can build purchase orders and enter inventory received so much faster than I had been able to in the past. When I say that this has saved me personally hours of time I am not exaggerating! A job that used to take me hours is now done in a matter of minutes. The system itself is so very user friendly that even the least computer literate of our team has no problem navigating the software. Add to the fact that we can use it portably while running on an iPad or other tablet and this system really has improved the way that we are able to interact with and help our clients. We have just invested in the loyalty system that Lightspeed Retail offers and so far we’ve had some very exciting results. All-in-all this system has changed the way that we look at POS systems as well as our marketing techniques. After 12 months of use we jumped right in to a 3 year subscription! LightSpeed had been a breeze to work with. I had originally started with MerchantOS several years ago, which was then taken over by LightSpeed. The transition was easy & efficient, and the service has only improved with time. Customer service is available 24/7, and is absolutely top notch. We did a lot of research into numerous companies, did many "walk thru's" of their products. We had been using Quickbooks POS and thought we were upgrading to Revel. We quickly realized that REvel was aimed mostly at Restaurants (we were given the impression on our walk thru that it would work wonderfully for our retail shop). We did more research and chose Lightspeed. They were very helpful and up front during our walk thru, answering all of our questions, even when we wouldn't like the answer. They helped us with the download of our customers and inventory into their system. Then did an amazing amount of training to help us learn the system. And they continue to offer training at any time if we think we need it. Their customer service is spectacular! They are quick to respond and easy to work with, especially for us older generation folks.

Really liking lightspeed! They have a great system and customer service line. Only thing is they required a full payment upfront. But in the long run it gives you a piece of mind thats it's all taken care of.
I moved from Lightspeed to Clover and it's night and day. I had to piecemeal the Clover system on the back end to be useful and Lightspeed hands you so much. I've since added more and more of the Lightspeed system like loyalty because their tools are amazing. One of the best parts is their customer service. You get quick answers and they go above and beyond. Whether it's something as simple as why isn't my shipping working on ecom or how can I verify my website with the different social media platforms, their FAQs and customer service team never disappoint.
