CAKE from Sysco was founded in the San Francisco Bay area in 2011 after being acquired by Sysco. Its goal is to provide simple, intuitive, and cost friendly point of sale (POS) solutions for restaurant owners. This is done through affordable hardware, excellent customer service, special restaurant POS features, and transparent pricing. This POS service uses cloud-based technology to provide payment processing, inventory management, reports on transactions, and much more all in one place. It is important to note that this is not a retail POS service provider.
CAKE from Sysco provides a number of different POS solutions for consumers to choose from. They include the following:
The POS hardware offered by CAKE from Sysco includes POS terminals, a card reader, POS payment cube, thermal receipt printer, and a cash drawer. Each of these items are available for sale or for lease online. Each of these items is available in either black or white. If you plan to use any software services from CAKE from Sysco, you will need to invest in its hardware as it does not function properly with third-party software. Hardware integrations have been made with ChefTab and OrderPad to provide kitchen display systems and to facilitate mobility and table-side ordering and line busting.
POS Software from CAKE from Sysco only works on CAKE from Sysco hardware. This software comes with a number of important basic features to ensure quality service. These include the following:
Point of sale systems should provide a number of credit card processing options and CAKE from Sysco certainly does. It accepts payment from Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express credit cards. With integrations from eCard systems, CAKE from Sysco is able to accept and process gift cards as well.
If you are interested in investing in a point of sale system, compare pricing with other service providers. This POS solution has pricing split up into two segments.
Hardware — If you would like to purchase or lease CAKE hardware, you can do so for just $69 per month. This package provides you with one of CAKE from Sysco's POS Terminals, a receipt printer, cash drawer, and an easy-to-use 15" touch screen.
Software — Similar to the pricing for the hardware, you can purchase a software package for $69 per month. If you add additional terminals, there is a $49 fee per month for each one added.
A couple of other key features to help make restaurant management easier are also included with this POS software. They include the following:
A number of these features do require an extra fee on top of the basic pricing package for the hardware and software.
In some POS system reviews for CAKE from Sysco, consumers have mentioned that they have run into complications when attempting to create specially programmed menus or promotions. For example, some customers who attempted to set up recurring discounts such as a happy hour discount, said that it was fairly time-consuming and complicated.
Though reports are available, some customers have found that a number of reports that they would like to have are not available.
