The Good

  • Account options
  • Highly-customizable
  • Professional photo-editing
SlickPic is designed for amateur and professional photographers, and was created with the intention of providing a platform for networking with other photographers, gaining an audience of supportive fans and growing business overall. SlickPic offers five account options, ranging from a free plan to the Business plan, which will cost you approximately $299.00 annually. With the exception of the Business plan, which is intended for very high-volume users, the prices fall towards the lower end of all the photo sharing sites we reviewed. Creating a SlickPic account will enable you to have one central place to store photos, have a professional edit photos and create a highly-customized online portfolio to show off your work. SlickPic also has a mobile app so you can upload images directly from your mobile device. SlickPic is ideal for amateur photographers because it offers an easy way to get feedback on photos. Users have the ability to rate photos on a 1-10 star system, as well as leave comments, ask questions or mark a photo as a favorite. The site also features a professional photo-editing service for enhancing recent photos or restoring the quality of older photos. All editing is done by trained professionals using photo editing and enhancement softwares. After an image is edited, you'll be able to review the before and after versions before finalizing it and downloading it to your gallery for sharing. The editing service is not free, however: it will cost 1-39 photo-edit credits depending on what types of editing you request. The credits are available for purchase directly on SlickPic. SlickPic gives you total control of their privacy, so you can choose exactly which photos you'd like to share and how. The options you have to control privacy will increase with the level of account you purchase, so if this is important to you, consider opting for one of the higher-end accounts. The Bonus account will let you control links, album settings and right-clicks. The Pro account will also let you add watermarks.

The Bad

  • Limited uploads at a time
  • Not great for selling
  • Difficult to get customer service representatives
A major downside of SlickPic is the limits it places on group photo uploads. If you're used to uploading a batch of photos all at once, you won't be able to do so on SlickPic unless you pay for one of the higher-level accounts. The free account will only allow you to upload five photos at a time, and the Basic account will only allow you to upload ten. This means you'll spend a lot of extra time uploading if you opt for one of the cheaper plans. Although SlickPic was created with professional photographers in mind, it doesn't offer any features that will enable professionals to sell work. If you're looking to monetize your work as much as possible, you may prefer a site like SmugMug or Zenfolio, both of which offer the ability to order prints and merchandise. While the watermark feature is attractive, you won't be able to take advantage of it unless you sign up for the Pro account. Social media profiles are not linked to SlickPic accounts. You can still share your photos through social media, but you'll have to do so manually. This may create an extra inconvenience if you're planning to share what you have stored on SlickPic through your Facebook or Pinterest account. SlickPic is easy to navigate if you're browsing photos, but it's much less user-friendly if you're seeking support. We had a very hard time finding the answers to our review questions and locating Help Center information. However, SlickPic does offer the ability to email or call customer service - you may have better luck doing this.

The Bottom Line

While SlickPic could offer more features to appeal to professional photographers, it's an excellent forum for amateurs to display work, get feedback and connect with others in the business. The unlimited uploads also make it easy to store a lot of photos without having to shell out a lot of cash. If you're just getting started or you're on a budget, SlickPic is a sensible option.
