However, Chewy does come out on top with its free shipping. Chewy offers free 2-day shipping on orders over $49. Petco also offers free shipping on orders over $49, but several products are excluded — which is extremely frustrating for customers as they’ll have to read the fine print to find out which products don’t apply. Additionally, Petco may charge customers with an additional fee for oversized items.

Because Petco isn’t solely online, the company offers several services that Chewy doesn’t. At most locations, Petco provides grooming services, training classes, doggie daycare, and even veterinary care. Petco even hosts a number of pet adoption events throughout the year. With Petco, pet owners have the convenience of shopping online, but can also take their pet in if they need additional services. 

If you’re buying larger pet products (dog food, cat food, litter, etc.) and want the best deal, we recommend Chewy.
