Works with Local Animal Shelters

Petsense works with local animal shelters and rescues to help adoptable cats and dogs find their forever homes. During the spring and fall, Petsense will host a National Adopt-a-thon where shelter and rescue animals are brought in. Additionally, each Petsense store hosts a monthly adoption event that brings awareness to homeless animals and further encourages community involvement. Since 2005, Petsense has helped save over 85,000 animals through its adoption events.

Only Located in 26 States

Petsense was founded in 2005 and first opened in Castle Rock, Colorado. In 2016, Petsense was acquired by Tractor Supply Co. and currently operates in over 175 stores in 26 states.

Petsense currently has locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.

Some states may only have one or two retail locations, so while a Petsense is listed in several states, customers will need to check the website to find out if it is in their area.

Limited Pet Products

While Petsense does offer a variety of dog and cat supplies, the company does not have any other pet products. Many other online pet stores carry supplies for fish, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, horses, and more.

The Bottom Line

Cat and dog owners will probably find just what they need for their pet at Petsense. The company offers a decent selection of food and supplies, at fairly competitive prices. However, pet owners with birds, fish, rabbits, ferrets, etc. will have to shop elsewhere as Petsense does not sell any supplies for more exotic animals.

Inside each store, pet owners will find a grooming salon, dog training area, and a Sav-A-Pet Center. Petsense doesn’t sell cats or dogs, instead, the company works with local animal shelters and rescues to help our furry friends find their forever home.
