The Good

  • Matches Lenders with Borrowers
  • Fast Approval
  • Educational Material

Matches Lenders with Borrowers

Personal Cash Advance is not a direct lender for short-term loans, but rather, they connect applicants to third-party loan companies. They advertise loan amounts of $100 to $1,000 (in some instances, up to $1,500) with short repayment terms that are usually from 7 days to 30 days. While no specific information is available from Personal Cash Advance about interest rates or fees, an outside source reported interest rates from 36% to 615%, which is fairly average for payday loan companies.

Fast Approval

Approval is usually received within a few hours and most often, funds are deposited the next day. The online application is free and takes only a few minutes to fill out. The application is filled out in five steps and will ask for, among other things:

  • Basic information: name, address, length of time at that address
  • Personal and contact information: birthdate, email, phone numbers, social security number, driver's license number, citizenship, and military status
  • Employment information: current employment status, employer contact information, monthly income
  • Bank account information

Personal Cash Advance's focus is on the convenience of filling out one application from home without having to visit one or more actual stores to fill out paperwork, the flexibility of having several borrowing options, and the quick turnaround time for being approved and receiving funds.

Educational Material

Personal Cash Advance has several additional education helps for borrowers and potential applicants. Their financial guide includes information about:

  • Budgeting strategies
  • Building an emergency fund
  • Consolidating credit card debt
  • Avoiding identity theft
  • Raising credit scores
  • Using a tax refund wisely

There is also a section of the financial guide with advice and tips specifically for college students. Personal Cash Advance also has an overview of different loan types and each of their advantages and disadvantages, as well as general points to take into consideration before borrowing money.

The Bad

  • Possibly No Longer Operating
  • Personal Information Could Be Shared
  • Security Seal Issues

Possibly No Longer Operating

While the Personal Cash Advance website appears to be functional, all other indications are that this is no longer an operating company:

  • They claim to have 24/7 customer service, but the phone number listed on the website does not work.
  • The phone number on their Facebook page is an automated application service that directs callers to an outside lending company (not Personal Cash Advance).
  • All other phone numbers associated with the company are no longer in service.
  • While there is an email form on their website, messages do not appear to be responded to.
  • The Delaware Division of Revenue does not have a current business license on file for Personal Cash Advance.

Personal Information Could Be Shared

Because the online application can still be filled out, it is likely that applicants' personal information is being recorded and used by third-party companies and even that loans are being distributed through that process. However, if there is a problem, Personal Cash Advance does not offer any help or support whatsoever.

Security Seal Issues

The website for Personal Cash Advance has security seals for both Norton™ and McAfee®; however, once the icons are clicked, both produce messages that report that the website is not protected or certified by either company. Norton also reports a few security alerts for the website as well. Although Personal Cash Advance claims to be a secure site with 128-bit SSL protection, there is no evidence that that is actually the case.

There are several negative reports and complaints of people being contacted by Personal Cash Advance and either asked for a first payment in order to secure a loan or threatened because of an outstanding loan amount that may or may not have actually been received.

While it is unclear whether these fraudulent calls are coming from someone associated with Personal Cash Advance, or whether the company name is being used as part of a separate scam, Personal Cash Advance does not appear to be a secure or trustworthy business.

The Bottom Line

Personal Cash Advance is a short-term loan company that connects borrowers to lenders through a free online application. The application is quick and approval is usually received within a few hours, with funds available the next day. Because Personal Cash Advance is not a direct lender, they provide little specific information about loan amounts, repayment terms, and interest rates, and no information at all about additional fees.

The company does provide information and advice about borrowing money and becoming more financially educated. However, Personal Cash Advance cannot be reached by phone, email, or mail, and does not appear to be an actual company at this time. Their website is functional, so loan applications are most likely still being processed by third-party lenders; however, the apparent security on the website is not actually in place.

Overall, Personal Cash Advance does not seem to be a secure or trustworthy business and potential customers should steer clear of them.

They contacted me on a loan have called several times. Last time spoke with a Mike in the account department and wanted to deposit money into my account, have me go to my bank and then withdraw it and send back to them. When I asked why they could not reverse the transaction they stated this was a way to see if I was trustworthy and repay the loan back to them and would increase by credit score with them. For some reason I think this is scam and don't trust them. The phone number they provided me on paper work they sent me in an email is a wireless phone number from the Albany New York area.

Hello everyone, I have the exact problem with this cash advance loan. They make me pay 3 times with iTunes $700 and still want another $400 for Process. This is scam. Please note, don't do it. A real company will deposit on your account with out your paying.
