LastPass was founded in 2008 and continues to be a widely used password management tool for both personal and business use. LastPass offers both a free personal package for one user and free trials for its other packages. Users can obtain access to the password management tool by a browser extension and they can access it on their personal devices via a mobile app. LastPass continues to adapt to new technology with its encryption algorithms, multi-factor authentication, and more.

The Good

  • Multiple Package Options
  • Innovative Features

Innovative Features

LastPass has the following innovative features that customers can take advantage of:

  • Form autofill
  • Password vault software
  • Digital wallet software
  • Secure password manager
  • Password generator
  • Username generator
  • Password Authenticator

In addition to the features listed above, LastPass uses a strong level of encryption technology and multi-factor authentication for added user security.

Online Resource Center

LastPass provides customers with a significant amount of online resources. These resources offer information about the company itself, personal security tips and advice, how to use LastPass, and more. The company also offers business-specific resources on its website.

The Bad

  • Limited Customer Support Contact
  • Annual License Purchasing

Limited Customer Support Contact

Although LastPass has a wide range of information that can be found on its website, it does not appear to have a 24/7 live customer support team. Rather, customers are only able to contact the customer service team by filling out a form on the LastPass website. This lack of around-the-clock live customer support may not satisfy customer needs.

Annual License Purchasing

LastPass only allows customers to purchase licenses on an annual basis. Fortunately, the company states on its website that LastPass plans “can be changed or cancelled anytime by simply contacting our Support team. There is no minimum contract, although licenses are purchased on an annual basis. You can also export your passwords if you decide to leave.”

The Bottom Line

LastPass offers quite a bit in comparison to other companies in the password management industry. Users have several plan options to choose from, including a free personal plan. The company also offers free trials without any required credit card information and its plans include multiple innovative features including everything from a form automator to a password generator. LastPass also offers free in-depth online resources for customers to refer to.

However, LastPass does not seem to provide much opportunity for live customer support and forces customers to purchase licenses annually rather than monthly. Potential customers are encouraged to read several LastPass reviews and conduct their own research before purchasing a password management package.

Very easy to use. Convenient for keeping track of so many passwords. Takes the worry out of having to remember everything.

I've used LastPass for a few years now. I would not use the free service as it does not include two-factor authentication. They have the most features for the price. The sad part is they keep going up in price. You can generate passwords, it has a security report showing, to help you improve security, and many other features. I have used a few other solutions, but continue to come back to LastPass.
