Family Link is a parental control app created by Google. The app is available on Android devices running KitKat (4.4) or higher and iOS devices running iOS 9 or higher. Family Link is accessible on Chromebook and web browsers but there are limitations, such as managing app usage and screen-time limits.
The app has you create a Google Account for your child and lets you manage the account as your own. Parental control capabilities through the app include activity viewing, activity reports, app managing, screen time monitoring and limiting, and device locking. Family Link also offers GPS location, but the device has to be turned on, recently active, and connected to the internet.
Family Link does not block potentially harmful content, and Google recommends reviewing the apps on your children’s devices to disable the ones you don’t want them viewing. New app purchases require approval from the parent before downloading.
