Services

Avvo offers a number of helpful services and features as part of their business model. Not only is their process unique and simple, but they also back up their services with a guarantee. Anyone can pay online and have a phone call with a lawyer to help answer any legal questions. Additionally, all of Avvo's lawyers have a rating of four or more stars, which is based on Avvo client reviews. Other beneficial services include:

Simple, Unique Process

The process of receiving legal services is made easy through Avvo Advisor. All you need to do is go to the website, type in your zip code, select a legal topic, pay online, and a lawyer will call you within minutes.

The Bad

  • Review Platform Limitations
  • Issues With Legal Question Board

Avvo offers many innovative benefits to their services, but they do have a few points of concern. Avvo has created an online question board for people to ask legal questions. This may seem like a great resource, but Avvo is using it as a competition for their attorneys to earn points and improve their overall status with the company. Other limitations include:

Review Platform Limitations

Attorneys are only rated through the Avvo service. That means that Avvo filters all of the review on their own lawyers. Users will not be able to go to another platform to see how a specific lawyer ranks. Instead, they are forced to trust what Avvo has published.

Issues With Legal Questions Board

Avvo allows consumers to post legal questions and attorneys to post responses to those questions. By answering the questions, attorneys earn points which improve their status to become the "Leaderboard" of the contributors. This is concerning as attorneys are answering a question that is from a different state than the one they are certified in and they do not have the knowledge or expertise to know how to really help the person. Some attorneys were even posting fake answers to questions just to boost their contribution level.

The Bottom Line

Avvo is an excellent option for those who may have a few legal questions or concerns, but do not have the means to employ a lawyer full-time. Instead, consumers can receive the advice they need from certified lawyers without having to pay astronomical fees. A person simply states where they are, select the service area in which they have questions, pay, and receive a phone call within minutes. However, Avvo's online question board has some issues. The way Avvo is posting questions is not a good way to receive answers because there have been issues with lawyers answering questions that they were not qualified to answer.

I asked a question online with this company. There response was for me to contact someone in my area because they are not sure what the law are in my area.I was given names of lawyers in my area to contact for more help with my questions. Then they started sending me emails asking me to fill out a survey on the service they provided. Basically I didn’t get any service from them other than finding a lawyer close to me. I could have done that without asking them.

I did a negative review about a lawyer named Latangie W and as the lawyer did not agree with the review, I contacted Avvo saying excuses and Avvo removed my review, but she called her false review page full and all with 5 stars and those they left them !!! So what is the Avvo company doing supporting lawyers to deceive people! removing the bad reviews and leaving the good ones that are false, do not trust in Avvo

The Avvo site is a great platform to discuss simple questions with lawyers, however, I can attest to them removing any negative reviews of lawyers. I gave one lawyer I hired a 2 star, and somehow it was taken down weeks later even though everything was accurate, polite, and more than fair. I only stated the facts, nothing malicious. Sad that Avvo allows them to pay money to boost their scores and ratings, and therefore Avvo's revenue.

Some attorneys are allowed by Avvo to be abusive to their clients. Despite the fact that I asked politely, the attorney who answered my question was extremely rude. She insulted me without responding to my questions. You can also see that many people complained about Avvo's attorneys being rude and racists.

Do not trust AVVO attorney reviews. I have tried several times to write a negative review about an attorney who has many past state bar suspensions and AVVO keeps removing them after they approve them. They also sell their services to attorneys.

Attorney's give the wrong advise and answers. I seriously question if it's real attorneys answering people's questions
