Unique Student Opportunities
UAB Nursing allows student several unique opportunities for its students:
- Veterans Administration Initiatives: Students can learn more about the VA Nursing Academic Partnership, VA National Quality Scholars, Veterans CAN! and other veteran-centered initiatives and educational opportunities
- Paul D. Coverdell Peace Corps Fellows: A graduate fellowship program that allows returned Peace Corps volunteers to apply to either the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program as a second-degree student or to the Accelerated Master’s in Nursing Pathway (AMNP) program
- Graduate Nursing Education Primary Care Scholars (GNEPCS): Current nurse practitioner students planning on providing primary care in one of Alabama’s rural-designated counties upon their graduation
The Dean’s Nursing Scholar
High school seniors who are actively considering a career in the nursing field will receive several benefits from The Dean’s Nursing Scholar:
- Visit the School of Nursing and attend special events designed for scholars to learn more about the nursing and BSN program
- Priority admission to the competitive BSN program (scholar must enroll at UAB directly from high school)

The UAB Nursing website offers lots of information about the courses and the many unique opportunities available to the students. However, there wasn’t a career resource page. A career resource page provides helpful information to students who are close to graduating or who have recently graduated and are looking for open positions.

The University of Alabama is an excellent choice for students looking to enter the nursing field. The school has several nationally ranked programs and plenty of nursing specialties to select from.
