The Good

  • No contract for three months
  • Helpful resources
  • Multiple product options

No Contract for Three Months

New England Emergency Response Systems is a local New England company that offers no contracts for their services, after a three-month trial period. This company is also connected with many senior organizations, proving that it is dedicated to helping the senior population in the area.

Helpful Resources

It also has a page dedicated to resources for seniors, including Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island, Senior Services Membership Program, ServiceLink, Seniors Count, and more, which is helpful for those seniors who are looking for more services to help them live an independent life.

Multiple Product Options

Lastly, the company also has five different options for products, including a medication dispenser, lock box, a reminder service, and two types of alert systems, which makes it easy to chose what suits you and your lifestyle.

The Bad

  • No pricing information
  • No policy information

No Pricing Information

Though NEERS seems like a good option, there are a few negative aspects of the company, one of the biggest being they don’t offer pricing information online. Without pricing information, it makes it difficult to determine whether this service is a good deal.

No Policy Information

They also don’t have a lot of information about whether they provide refunds, a 30-day guarantee, or what type of monitoring services they have. Though the company offers a lot of information about the company and the products, some of the most pertinent information is missing.

The Bottom Line

In the end, New England Emergency Response Systems seems like a great option, but we aren’t sure simply because the pricing information isn’t available. NEERS has a lot of connections with great senior organizations and a lot of information about other things to make living at home a lot easier. With the addition of this information, it seems like a company that truly cares about its customers. Be sure to ask about their refunds and monitoring services, read through their contract, and make sure their pricing information is appropriate for their services and equipment.

Package Details

Standard PERS

The standard emergency response system consists of a lightweight, waterproof button that you wear on your wrist or around your neck and a base unit with battery back-up that connects to your phone line. In the event of an emergency a press of the button activates the base unit, which sends a signal to the monitoring center via your phone line.

Cell-based Personal Emergency Response System

The Cell-Based Personal Emergency Response System functions essentially the same as a standard PERS except that no landline is required at the home. It is a totally independent device and does not require an additional cell plan, nor interfere with your existing cell phone service. The system features a waterproof personal help button and the base unit with back-up battery. Status lights on the unit indicate if cell service is available to the system.

Medicine Dispenser

The medicine dispenser is a locking pillbox that can be programmed to dispense medication up to four times per day. At preset times, the medicine dispenser will beep to alert the patient that it is time to take their medication. The patient simply slides open the door to access their medication and silence the alarm. Should the patient fail to take their medication within 30 minutes, a signal will be sent to the monitoring center through the Personal Emergency Response System.

SafeChek

For people who do not require the total security of a personal emergency response system, but would like the reassurance of a daily check-in call we offer SafeChek. No special equipment is required other than your phone! This means total freedom; no wires, no help button and no speaker unit! A friendly operator will call you on a schedule that you determine to remind you of important things to do daily.

  • Medication Reminders
  • Medical Reminders
  • Wellness Calls

SafeChek service is available for only $39 a month.

Lockboxes

With the “Shurlok” lockboxes you can rest easy knowing that your home is secure while emergency personnel have a means to get inside. Lockboxes feature a high quality all metal construction making it the safest, most secure lockbox on the market.

Lockboxes are available for purchase for $49 or for lease at $5 monthly.
