Every Medical Guardian medical alert system is identical in that they have a base station, a wearable emergency button, and provide two-way communication. Each system also has a backup battery that has a battery life of at least 24 hours. However, systems like the Mobile Guardian device operate on a cellular network that allows you to take the alert button and miniature base station anywhere.
Systems like the basic Classic Guardian operate on a landline connection and have an alert button that can be worn as a wristband or pendant. When the emergency button is activated, you're immediately put in contact with a representative at Medical Guardian's certified monitoring center. Here's a breakdown of each offered system:
This plan starts at $0.97 per day.
The Classic Guardian is the lowest priced package Medical Guardian offers. The medical alert system is meant to keep you safe in and around your home with a 1,300 range. The system connects to your landline phone and the medical alert device is a wearable waterproof button. The system includes a built-in speaker with two-way communication and power outage protection with a 32-hour backup battery.
This plan starts at $1.12 per day.
The Home Guardian is a wireless medical alert system that does not require a phone landline. The system works with a nationwide cellular network that gives you access to Medical Guardian's 24/7 monitoring center at any time. The system comes with a wearable medical alert button, which has a 600-foot range from the base station.
This plan starts at $2.58 per day.
The Family Guardian is meant to combine medical alert systems with activity monitoring. With three, in-home safety sensors, The Family Guardian keeps track of activity in the home each day. This is great for family members who want to check on their loved ones. The Family Guardian also comes with a mobile app that you can enable to send you instant notifications to your email or smartphone when one of the safety sensors detects a difference in your loved one's routine or when the help button is triggered. The Family Guardian includes a 1,300-foot range from the base station.
This plan starts at $1.61 per day.
The Mobile Guardian is a portable mobile medical alert system that functions on built-in GPS technology. This enables customers to use their medical alert devices outside of their home. The device includes a wearable button that has a 350-foot range from the device. The system has location tracking and two-way communication with an adjustable volume speaker.
This plan starts at $1.28 per day.
The Active Guardian is a portable medical alert system with built-in GPS and Wi-Fi technology. You can use this system at home or on-the-go since it functions on AT&T's cellular network. The system includes a wearable medical alert button, two-way communication, and location tracking with GPS.
This plan starts at $1.45 per day.
The Freedom Guardian is the only package that does not include free equipment. Because it is an advanced smartwatch, the Freedom Guardian requires a one-time equipment fee of $249.95. You can find more information regarding the smartwatch capabilities below under the section "The Freedom Guardian Medical Alert Watch."
In addition to a variety of package offerings, Medical Guardian also has accessories you can add to your plan for a small fee. Prices for each product vary, but here is a list of the offered accessories:
Every Medical Guardian alert system offers fall detection except for the Mobile Guardian system. Fall detection pendants are equipped with a sensor that is triggered any time a fall occurs, which then immediately sends a signal to Medical Guardian's monitoring center informing them of the emergency.
Members may cancel their Medical Guardian services at any point without charge. As opposed to companies such as Life Alert, you won't be locked into any long-term contracts with the expectation of buying out. This allows customers to try out Medical Guardian to see if it is the right medical alert provider for them.
Medical Guardian offers a lifetime warranty on all its products. If for some reason the equipment is damaged or malfunctions, Medical Guardian will replace it free of charge. Having free equipment and a lifetime warranty on all products ensures money for equipment never has to come out of the customer's pocket.
100% of Medical Guardian's central station monitoring center operators are certified and committed to CSAA's five points of excellence. This can provide peace of mind to medical alert owners knowing they can rely on Medical Guardian's services. Medical Guardian is also UL Listed, FM approved, and ESA Security certified.
Service monitoring is 24/7, and Medical Guardian's fall detection can detect a fall without any action from the individual, so you don't need to worry about calling for help, as your device will do so on its own. Every system also offers two-way communication so in the case of an emergency, you can talk directly to Medical Guardian's monitoring center that is available 24/7.
Medical Guardian's home-based medical alert system has a 1,300-foot range. This is a much larger range than most medical alert providers out there who only offer closer to 600–1,000 feet of coverage from the base station. Medical Guardian's long range gives medical alert users more freedom in how far they can travel away from the base station while still having full coverage in case of a fall or another emergency.
Medical Guardian's medical alert devices have a 120-hour battery life, which is one of the longest in the industry. Many medical alert companies have medical alert systems that only have 24-hour battery lives and need to be charged every night, which can be a pain if you want to wear the medical alert device while you sleep. Having a longer battery life ensures you have more coverage with less difficutly.
Medical Guardian has customer service representatives waiting to assist you whether you have questions about ordering equipment or if you are experiencing difficulty operating the system. Members have the ability to order online or by calling in, and there is an online support team prepared to answer any questions.

Medical alert services also make sure emergency responders have the necessary information they need to best assist you—information you may be unable to provide in an emergency situation. Medical Guardian’s monitoring center will keep your information on file and give emergency responders the details they need, including your exact location, your preferred hospital, any medications you’re taking, medical conditions you may have, etc.
Also, if it’s a non-emergency situation, Medical Guardian’s monitoring center can contact your listed caregiver to assist you rather than emergency responders.

When I was picking one out, it mostly came down to the price. About seven weeks ago I had to use the device and everything went excellent. I fell out of bed and got hurt so I pushed the button. I was quite a distance from where the machines were but the person that came on was able to hear me and I could hear them without a problem. They sent someone to help me and things were wonderful. When I needed to switch over to a different machine that was easier to use, they swapped things very quickly.
I like the reviews that I saw about them online so I got it. The button is easy to use though I have not had to use it, except maybe to check on it to see if it's working. They always answer any question that I have. The pricing is adequate for seniors, I'm happy with it.
I think I talked with two or three representatives from other companies at the time. I was looking for an inexpensive solution but they were all about the same price, so I ended up going with Medical Guardian. The button is not necessarily comfortable to use, it just hangs around your neck all the time. I'm not really used to it. It's convenient and easy to use though. I was surprised when the battery on the thing went dead. They contacted everyone on my emergency list and let me know I needed to go and charge it. At first I thought that was humorous but then I just realized I had to charge it every night or they would contact the five people on the list every time. That was embarrassing.
I researched and thought they were the best ones for me since it's so accessible and easy to use. When I test it, a voice comes on as soon as I push the button and I can easily communicate with whoever is only the line. The only time I've had to use it was when my sugar rate was extremely low. I was home alone with my granddaughter and had to use Medical Guardian. The EMTs got here right away. The buttons are easy to conceal and everyone thinks it's just a necklace. It's not cumbersome at all. I've been satisfied with it.
They were just the ones I picked for my mother. She has never had to use it but they've been good to us and we haven't had any issues with them.
I went online thinking that I needed to get something that could get me help if I needed it. The person that I talked to was very convincing so, in the end, I went with them. I typically use it when I go to bed at night. One night I was testing the button and got into a bit of a predicament. It didn't help that the person that I talked to wasn't very nice. Other than that, I wish the signal on the thing would reach farther away so I could take it with me to my backyard or out front if I need to.

Catherine, thank you for the review. We will be reaching out to discuss the incident you mentioned here when you reached out on your Home Guardian. We will also discuss some options that may better suit your needs if you need a unit with greater range. We thank you for your input!
My daughter decided to get this for me. On a typical day I put it on when I get up in the morning and wear it all day long. Whether I go out or not, it's with me. I'd like it better if it wasn't quite as big as it is and if I could have a watch or something else. It's quite ugly actually. It makes me feel like my neck is bending over. Besides, if I lean against something the button gets triggered very easily. That has happened a couple of times already. One time it happened while I was putting clothes in the washing machine and it took a good 4 minutes before anybody got back to me on that occasion.

Patricia, thank you for reaching out. We're happy that you keep your unit with you all the time. We may have some other options available that might meet your needs a bit more. We will be reaching out to discuss these additional options with you. Have a great day!
Somebody else decided to get it for me. I used it for a while but I stopped fairly recently. While I had it it gave me a little bit more security when I was out and about.
The salesman that I talked to was very upfront. He gave me all the information that I needed and was very helpful, so I signed up and got it for my mom. Thank god we never had to use it, but I have no complaints about them. They're a good company and their product is good quality. Though we had to stop using the service since my mom moved in with me.
I researched on the internet before getting it. The button is compact, I can wear it on my belt and I don't even know that it's there. I wear it every day but I have been lucky in that I have not fallen. I've tested it though and it's very effective. It's a comfort to know that it's there. I've had very little contact with customer support. I had to call them early on to know how the button was doing but that was the only contact I've had with them.
My daughter bought it as a gift for me since she lives in Texas. I do yoga classes every day, go to meetings, and do things like that, so I take the little device with me everywhere I go. I just feel more secure having it with me. If anything happens, I know that I will be protected. I've talked to them a couple of times to test the button and such and it works ok. I'm happy and thankful to have it, it's a wonderful technology that can help a lot of people like me.
Another family member recommended it to me, so I got it. I usually keep it on me all the time. I haven't had to use it yet but it gives me some comfort to know that it's there. Everything seems to work alright and it's not all that expensive. I don't have a problem with it. Anytime I've talked to them they've given me the information that I need.
So far I haven't had to use it, but I've tried it a few times to test it and it has worked fine. I also have no problems getting in touch with them if I need help. It is pretty expensive, but it's comforting to have it with me.
I got it mainly because of the price. I haven't had to use it except for when I test it. So far things have been good, I get good service.
Luckily I haven't had to use it yet, but it seems to be alright.
I received information from two different companies and went online to learn more about them. In the end, Medical Guardian was the one I felt more comfortable with, so I got it. I haven't had to use it, but I wear the necklace thing and carry the voice box with me all the time. It's very comfortable. Now I'm used to taking it with me even when I go down the driveway to get the newspaper. When it's rainy or really cold out, I make sure I take it with me too. That way I ensure I can always get back to my apartment safely. It gives me a great deal of comfort to know that I have it and that I can get help with it. I called them when I misplaced the little booklet that they give you. I asked if they had a manual or something else that would give me more information about the system and within a couple of days, they mailed it out to me. I really appreciated how quickly they responded to that. Now I keep the booklet handy all the time. The button is not obtrusive and when I wear it nobody notices that I have it on. That's very important to me since I don't want people to know I have it on. It's just something that's very private.
It's all really handy. You have the necklace, the bracelet, and the base itself. We haven't had to use it yet but we've tested it all around the house. It works great and we know we have some security in case we need it. They also call us all the time to check in with us. There's really no big commitment with them or tricks to make you stay and the price for the device is fair. It was 4 times cheaper than the others we looked at.
I used another service for about 2 or 3 weeks that was connected to the phone line, but I've liked Medical Guardian better. It is Wi-Fi so it's much easier to move the base around put it somewhere if I need to do that. After getting it I very quickly decided to send the other one back. The button is comfortable. I have not had to use it for emergencies but I trust that they will be responsive. I'm a little bit concerned since it seems to take them longer that I expected to answer the calls. You know, when you're in an emergency situation you start to relax a little the moment someone responds to you, so I'd expect them to be quicker about it. I've also been told that if I'm going to spend a long time visiting family or something I can take the base with me, but I haven't tried that yet. When I call them using the button the reps that respond don't really know the answers to what I would consider to be basic questions about the company. If it's not related to an emergency they don't know the answer and I don't really like that.
My daughter was the one that picked it for me after I fell and laid on the floor for 10 hours. We both thought it was necessary for me to have something I could use in case I needed help. So far I haven't had to use it though.
My husband has severe hearing deficit. If I were to fall while he's in another room, he wouldn't be able to hear me to come and help me. Because of that it's very important for me to have it on. I even wear it when I go to bed. We have not had to use it on purpose, but the cleaning girl pressed the button by accident when she came by. They responded quite quickly and we just told them it was a false alarm. If it had been for real we know they would've answered well.
I don't like that you have to carry the base station with you when you leave the house.

Jodie, thanks for the review. You have our Mobile Guardian, a 2 piece portable unit for both in the home and on the go. There is a newer product available, the Active Guardian, that may be of interest to you. It is an all-in-one unit with the emergency button and speaker in one unit that you wear around your neck. If you are interested in hearing more about the Active Guardian, reply directly to this message and we will have a member of our Customer Care team reach out and discuss it further with you. Have a great day!
My daughter was the one that got it. I haven't had to use it, but a couple of times they called saying that I had pressed the button or something. They even came down here once. Still, I think it's worth having. It's a really handy thing and it's easy to use.
My wife picked this out for me and I always have it on. They are very efficient and quick. I fell once and it took them 15 minutes to get someone here to pick me up.
I saw it advertised somewhere and since they were one of the best in some lists that I looked at I went with it. I wear it everyday, though the little thing is not as convenient as I would've liked it to be. There's just too many pieces that go together and it's too complex. Whenever I communicate with them I'm impressed though. I feel comfortable knowing that they are there.
I did a little research and I spoke with quite a few companies before calling Medical Guardian. Since I liked what they had to offer I got it for my mother. She has had to use it quite a few times and it has been a real blessing for us. It's an excellent company, I highly recommend it for anyone that lives on their own or even just for elderly people.
My kids got it for me. Whenever I'm around the house I use it but it's no good after 600 feet, to go somewhere with it, but the guy told me you don't need it when you're going somewhere, because you've always got somebody with you. When you're at home alone is when you really need it, so that's the way I use it.

Emmet, you are correct that your Home Guardian will cover you within a 600-foot range and is made for use in and around your home. If you do feel like you need something for outside of the home, please reply directly to this message. We have additional products that offer protection both in the home and on the go that may better suit your needs if that's the case. Have a great week!
My children decided that it was the best option out there, so they got it for us. I take it with me when I go out and hang it on my bed at night. I haven't had to use it but I feel safe with it. They always seem to be genuinely concerned about me. I think that everyone should get one, especially anybody at my age who likes to move around.
My cardiologist recommended it to me, so I got it. I wear it all day, every day. I have not had to use it for an emergency, but it's a real comfort to have it on me. When I test it they're always right there and respond well. I feel comfortable having it as protection. At one point something happened to my wristband and I called them. In two days I received another one to replace it. They're always very courteous and caring in the conversations that I've had with them. I just feel very comfortable with them.
When I go out I take it out of the holder and put it on my pocket. It's nice knowing that I have it if I need it, but it seems to be a little expensive. I have to consistently pay for it rather than straight out buying it and since I've never use it's weird not to get some money back.

We thank you for the feedback Karl. With regards to your pricing, you are paying monthly monitoring fees that ensure a timely response when and if you ever need to push your button. Please don't hesitate to reply directly to this message if you have any other questions or concerns about your service!
I bought it because they were the best rated one for the best price. It's good.
I got connected when I Googled it. I test it every now and then, and it seems to take them a long time to answer. The value is in if you actually had to use it to save your life. I guess it's like an insurance policy. It's great to have it when you need it. I don't consider it a waste of money because you never know when you'll have to use it. There was an issue when they simply billed my checking account the full amount for the year, which was an unexpected thing; a $400 withdrawal from my account... So I had to call them and let them know about that being a problem.
I researched different services and liked this one best, so I got it. One of the reasons I went with them was that it felt more reasonable and affordable than some of the other services. The button is easy to carry around and it works wherever I go. I really haven't had to use it, thank goodness, but I wear it all the time. When I push the button to test it they've been there right away and have been very pleasant too.
My father has one and he suggested I should get one too, so I did. I wear it when I'm alone in my house but I don't really take it with me when I go out in public. That's mostly because I know that someone will be there to help me if I fall. I've never had to use it, but when I tested it, everything was fine. The company itself is fine, they are a little overpriced though...
I had to use it just the other day when I fell. I pushed the button and asked them to call my daughter so she could come over and help me. I get good service from them.
I got it for my mom because she could get the GPS unit and didn't need to have the base station. Besides, the price was about the same with or without it, so that didn't really matter. She hasn't had to use it but she accidentally set it off a few times. Whenever that happens they just get a hold of her and help her reset everything. They're very good help.
I saw it advertised online and decided to investigate it before signing up. I've never had to use it but they answer every time I test the system and everything works fine. I gave them two telephone numbers they should call before contacting the ambulance and they said they'd do that. The necklace part of the device fell apart once and I called to ask for another one. They said that it would cost me so and so to replace that so I just told them I'd cancel and go with someone that wouldn't charge me to replace the equipment. Immediately after I said that they told me they'd send a replacement for free. I mean, I'm old but not stupid and I know they all try to get more money from you with this kind of thing. I know some old people are dumb enough or trusting enough to fall for it, but I'm not. I gave them a little fight and got it for free, so I'm happy with it.
I looked at several different services, read a lot of reviews and, in the end, got Medical Guardian. When I got it I thought I'd wear the wristband, but I don't really like it. It's easier to wear the button around your neck. I used it last Sunday when I got out of bed and just collapsed on the floor. When I pushed the button it did took a long time for the operator to come on the line, but they helped me. It's not the most expensive service out there, but it's not the cheapest either.
There were various reasons that led me to pick them, one of them was their availability in non-urban areas. I have not had to use it yet, but I normally take it with me when we go up to a mountain cabin that's north of where I live. Normally other units don't work there because of the terrain, but this one does.
I was looking online and looking for a medical alert bracelet. They were listed at the top and had very good reviews. Actually, they ended up contacting me first, so I just went along with it. The bracelet is very comfortable to wear, I use it all the time. The support I've gotten whenever I call them about things has been good too. However I have problems with the button and the alarms. They've called me in the middle of the night telling me that the alarm went off when I didn't press it. Once it happened at 12:30 at night. Luckily I answered the phone even though I didn't recognize the phone number on it. If I hadn't done that, they would've called the ambulance. I really don't know how any of the things could've gone off on their own. They haven't been able to explain those to me and because of that I'm not sure about renewing my contract anymore.
I got it simply because I wanted to try it. Customer support called me once and that went ok, though that was the only time I've talked with them. I take it with me in the little case it has whenever I go out shopping or something. It all looks like it works.
The price was just right and it was much easier to use compared to other services. The activation period was very nice. I used the button once when I had a stroke. They came out immediately and helped me right away. They are just marvelous.
I've used it twice and the button is just simple and easy to use. You know when it's working and when it isn't.
The ability to use the service while away from home and the GPS location bit were what convinced me of getting it. The people are very knowledgeable, it just takes a little bit to get through to them. I've had to use it once while I was at home. I needed to go to the emergency room and they sent an ambulance out to pick me up. I've also tested it when I was out and about in the community and they were able to locate exactly where I was. One of my watches has broken before and they sent me a new one to replace it. The thing is that that one broke again when I was out doing physical therapy. My home unit is messed up right now too, I can't really press the button on it anymore.
I've never had to use it thank god, I just have it hanging from my neck in case I need it. Customer service is very attentive.
My daughter picked it for me. I've never had to use it, but I wear it everyday.
I've never had to use it and right now I'm moving somewhere else so I need to ask for a box or something to return it. Still, they were easy to deal with and I was very pleased with it.
I kind of got it by accident. The button is easy to use, though most of the time I have trouble remembering to take the portable thing with me when I go out. Actually on one occasion I didn't realize that it was not charged and they called everyone to try and find me.
I just joined in since I liked the idea of being able to take it with me when I'm away from the house. Since I just got it I haven't tested it, so I'm making arrangements to try it out every month. I want to make sure it's working okay. On a typical day I take the thing with me when I go out but it is hard to remember to do that.
I asked a lot of people for recommendations and Medical Guardian came up, so I got it.Thank goodness I haven't had to use it. The button is heavy and when I try to push it to get in touch with them it's a bit hard to press. However when I lean over and accidentally bump it against something it goes off. I can't figure that out. When I was able to get to them they were very nice and helped me answer a lot of questions I had. It's a rather convenient service.
I just picked them out, there wasn't a particular reason for it. I wear the button every day and it has been good.
