While Medical Guardian does offer some of the best equipment and services in the industry, there are still some aspects of their service that require additional attention prior to purchasing.

  • Initial Service Agreement: While there is no contract with Medical Guardian, there is a minimum three-month (90-day) service agreement. Medical Guardian asks that consumers try their service for at least three months before canceling. Consumers may decide they do not want to wait three months to cancel; however, Medical Guardian will keep the 90-day minimum charge and consumers will then receive money back for any remaining portion of the service charges they did not use. This is not ideal for those who want to test Medical Guardian for one month, but cancellation is still possible.
  • No Combo Package: Medical Guardian does not offer a combo package at this time. This means that consumers will not be able to group multiple items together to receive a discounted rate.

How much does Medical Guardian cost?

Medical Guardian has four products that vary in price. Here is a price breakdown of each product:

  • Classic Guardian: $29.95/month
  • Home Guardian: $34.95/month

Is there a contract?

There are no long-term contracts for any of the products. However, part of the customer agreement states that there is a minimum three-month service agreement for each product. The equipment remains the property of Medical Guardian. The monthly charge begins the day the customer receives the device. After the three-month period has expired, the contract will be automatically renewed unless either the customer or the company elects to terminate it. Customers who cancel after the three months are entitled to refund of any unused prepayments, provided the equipment is still in working order. If customers do not return the equipment, they are subject to a charge for it. The benefit of not owning the equipment is being able to have the newest gear available without having to pay a bunch for it.

    Unfortunately, I have Parkinson’s disease. After several falls, my wife and I decided I needed it, and it’s worked just fine so far. If you ask me about the representatives, I would say they were great! They explained everything and were very helpful. They told me how everything works, and explained the key box and how to test it. They’re just very well and very professional. I was very happy with them. I think they’re better than any others that I talked to, and I like the fact that all of their operatives are here in the US, so that was good to hear.

    Speaking to the representatives was great! Everyone was very helpful, and definitely provided us all the information we needed. My mother actually fell this weekend, and the experience was awesome! She pushed the button, and they responded immediately and got emergency services there. I think everything is great! Starting with the initial customer service representatives, when it came to buying it, to the actual shipping of the devices, to the ease of how to set it up and use it.     I’ve only spoken with Medical Guardian once, really, and it was a very positive experience; the person was very patient and caring. I got the device for myself, I’m in my early 80’s and I live alone and I’m always afraid of my fall or somebody even may try break in on me. I have not it had that long, and I have not had to use it yet. Wearing it, my day is absolutely normal. I get up and go over round doing my usual household routine, I go out, go shopping; just a regular normal life.

She’s typically at her apartment and she just started using it. She is just fine using it everyday, putting it on when she wakes up in the morning. She has not used it yet for help.     We got it for someone else because she has fallen in the past. Both of us wear it during the day. We just started it last week and we simply tested it by calling and just telling the person who answered that we were testing it. He was very courteous and answered it right away. When I said that it was a test and he said “Thank you for calling..” and that everything is working fine. We have not had to used it in an emergency but we feel good about having that just in case we should have to call for help.

    We got the system for my husband and because he’s a tentative fall risk. I have to be able to go to work, and there have to be some ways for him to call for help. Typically he wears the button around his neck, and there’s a room where he spends most of his time. He has had to use it twice, and on both occasions, both EMS and Fire Rescue have been sent out to the house. The first time we used the device there was a great deal of confusion on the part of the person answering our call. They made multiple calls, trying to determine if we wanted EMS sent out. We just needed someone to get there to help him! The second time went more smoothly, although I had specified that we only wanted a non-emergency lift assist, yet they sent EMS out anyway. So, I’m not quite certain how efficient the call center actually is.
