GetSafe began as a home security company and has since transitioned to focusing primarily on medical alert systems. For customers who purchased home security services from GetSafe before the company switched its offerings, those contracts are still active but are now managed by Link Interactive. GetSafe is no longer accepting new home security customers and is only offering medical alert system monitoring and equipment.

The Good

  • Low Monthly Monitoring Fee
  • 5-Year Battery Life
  • Voice-Activated Wall Buttons
  • 30-Day Risk-Free Trial
  • Add-On Equipment and Features
  • Fall Detection

Low Monthly Monitoring Fee

GetSafe’s monitoring fee is on the lower end of pricing when compared to other providers. Some medical alert companies charge upwards of $50 per month, depending on the package you choose. However, GetSafe’s monitoring price stays around $25, regardless of the plan you select.

5-Year Battery Life

GetSafe’s medical alert buttons have an average battery life of five years, which is on par with most other medical alert providers. This gives customers the convenience of not having to worry about battery replacement very often. However, GetSafe’s website doesn’t mention if there is a low-battery warning, or if the company will automatically send you a replacement battery when yours is low, so be aware of this when keeping track of your medical alert’s battery life. The company may offer this; it’s just not explicitly noted online.

Voice-Activated Wall Buttons

In addition to regular wall buttons, GetSafe also has voice-activated ones. In the case of an emergency, you can simply say “Call 9-1-1” and it will connect you to a live emergency operator. This is a unique offering, as most medical alert companies don’t have voice-activated medical alert equipment.

30-Day Risk-Free Trial

GetSafe offers a 30-day risk-free trial on its products and services, which is the industry standard. This gives customers a chance to try out GetSafe’s services before fully committing.

Add-On Equipment and Features

Similar to other medical alert companies, GetSafe offers add-on equipment options. These are purchased a la carte and aren’t included in the cost of the medical alert package you choose. Add-on items include a lockbox, smoke detector, fall detection, and extra alert pendants and wall buttons.

Fall Detection

For an extra $10 per month, you can add fall detection to your medical alert plan. This pricing and separate offering are standard across the industry, as fall detection is usually an added expense on top of regular medical alert pendants and equipment.

The Bad

  • Equipment Cost
  • No Mobile Systems
  • Lack of Warranty Information

Equipment Cost

Most medical alert companies offer free equipment, especially if there are only at-home systems available. GetSafe charges an equipment fee regardless of the package you choose, the price increasing depending on how many standard and voice-activated wall buttons you want to purchase.

No Mobile Systems

GetSafe only offers at-home medical alert systems. If you’re a customer only looking for protection at home, this may not be an issue. However, if you’re wanting a medical alert button that works outside of your home, GetSafe is not a good option for you, and you’ll be better off with a provider who offers on-the-go systems.

Lack of Warranty Information

A warranty is available as an add-on when you’re at GetSafe’s checkout page on its website. However, the only information provided is that the warranty is $5 per month. It has a miniature picture of the warranty information, but it won’t let you expand the picture to read the details, so it’s unclear exactly what the warranty details are.

The Bottom Line

GetSafe’s medical alert services are comparable to other top-rated companies in the industry. Where GetSafe excels is with its voice-activated mini console that is a wall button you can use to call 911 if there’s an emergency.

However, GetSafe falls short with its mobile medical alert offerings since its focus is at-home systems. If you’re looking for an on-the-go medical alert system, GetSafe is not a good fit for you.
